  1. Level: Unknown, probably around 20 Date: Early 2002 Amount: 20k+ How: Mining iron ores for a friend for 10gp each - was a lot in those days! ~Ian
  2. I've been playing for 4 and a half years and until a few days ago my total cash stood at 170k, with not very many valuable items to add to the value of my bank, certainly I would have had a bank of no more value than a million. I think that speaks for itself that I value skills more than making money. But skills can't buy the full infinity which I so desperately want right now - so I'm putting all my efforts into some nat crafting for the time being so I can earn a bit of the green stuff and get me something decent to wear! ~Ian
  3. I started playing around January 2002, but the first update I can actually remember happening was when the Report Abuse Button was added to the bottom of the playing window. I also remember the numerous fatigue updates as Jagex attempted to stop macros. ~Ian
  4. Try using a different browser, try rebooting your machine. This should be in Tech And Computers. The Help and Advice board is really for Runescape related issues, not technical problems. ~Ian
  5. Hmmm I think it would be a suicidal move for Jagex to just scrap Runescape. It's a hugely successful game, and they would have to do extremely well to make another game that evens comes close to the success of Runescape. I can't see them taking a gamble and ditching Runescape just to try and recreate another success. It's not good business-sense. ~Ian
  6. Welcome back. Don't do any more bad stuff! :) ~Ian
  7. Ah a weather system - what a great idea. It could be dependent on the weather in the real world. For example, if you log onto a London server, the weather on that server is identical to the weather in London at that precise moment. If there's a lot of fog in the real world, then the visibility of people playing on those servers is greatly reduced - imagine pking in the fog! ~Ian
  8. Predicting how and when Runescape is going to end is extremely difficult because there's nothing which even remotely resembles Runescape, that we can look back on and learn from. The end could have come when RS2 was released, but Jagex had created another success and the game Runescape continued forward. If RS2 had instead been a flop, that would surely have spelled the end. Personally I think that the only way Runescape will eventually come to an end, is when the game goes through another huge 3D update, and it fails to be any good. As the years go on, Runescape will need to go through several more major updates to keep up with its modern day competitor games. If Runescape Classic was still in use today, and RS2 had never been made, I'm sure it would be either dead or close to it, as many people would have gone to play better games. If RS2 doesn't become RS3 in the next 5-10 years, the same thing will happen, the graphics will become dated, the game tiresome and people will move on. And eventually, when either Jagex don't recognise the need to upgrade the game, OR one of these major game upgrades doesn't work out, ultimately the game will fail... But until then let's just keep playing, having fun, and praying that RS3, RS4, RS5, and as many versions of the game that we live through are all successes. ~Ian
  9. I lead a strange life. Some days when I'm most addicted to Runescape, I can happily play from dawn to dusk (around 12 hours, not including breaks for food and drink and toilet-stops). Typically this 'hardcore' playing streak can last anything from a week to a few months. Then I bore of the game, and I might log on for a total of 2 hours per MONTH! Then a few months on and I think about playing Runescape some more and before you know it, I'm back up to my huge daily scaping routine. It's a crazy world. Despite that, I genuinely believe that I am not addicted to the game. Take today for example. Right now I'm staying in a student house with 3 of my mates from university. The house is always quiet because during the day we're all either out at work, or usually spend most of the day in our bedrooms gaming or watching TV or just sleeping - it's a student thing or so I'm told... I'm also in one of my 'hardcore' periods of Runescaping, yet earlier today my friend decided to do a BBQ tonight, so I logged off Runescape straight away, went and helped out, then we sat down and ate and watched the Reading Music Festival on TV, then we watched a film, and now I'm about to go to bed. So you see, I think the fact that I can drop Runescape at any time and go and entertain a social life is proof that I'm not addicted. Almost every night we are all in the sitting room together eating dinner together and watching TV or something. Then occasionally we go out clubbing, down the pub, whatever it's not a problem, it's just one helluva sweet chilled-out life to live! ~Ian
  10. Not a bad article, although I do feel the issue of scamming has been 'done to death', so to speak. ~Ian
  11. I wonder how many more times I will have to tell this story! When Lionhead Studios released Black And White a few years ago, I bought a copy of their game and joined the bwgame discussion forum, but couldn't for the life of me think of a decent name because it was the first real internet community I'd ever joined. My creature in B&W was a tiger and my name was Ian (and still is, I hope), so I stupidly fused the two together, and here I am today. I wish I could change it, I've tried other aliases but everyone knows me by Iantiger so I guess I'm cursed! ~Ian
  12. Actually, there are two places in the world where a compass will in fact point to "Perfect North" instead of "Magnetic North". One of these places is the Bermuda triangle, I'm not sure where the other is, but I imagine it's the place on the exact opposite side of the world from the Bermuda Triangle. But other than that you are correct. I remember getting the Runescape map aligned North used to be very easy, then they altered it in an attempt to impeded macroing players who's programs used the mini map to navigate to the bank and back when mining coal for example. By putting the mini map slightly off centre every time you log in, it completely messed up the programs coding and they had to be remade or something. Interesting story behind it anyway. I think I got the map aligned once, but the compass is easy peasy :) ~Ian
  13. Not bad, I especially liked the fight scene where the girl ate, but then when the boy did his special, and she never stood a chance! ~Ian
  14. Chopping 10,000 magic logs? 1 month of your life Fletching 10,000 magic bows? 2 months of your life Alcing 10,000 magic bows? 1 month of your life Realising you've contracted arthritis after all that clicking and will have the use of only one hand for the rest of your life? PRICELESS ~Ian
  15. I think that article is quite harsh on Jagex. Construction is hardly an old update - and surely it's still entertaining the majority of us, desperately dreaming of one day having one of those demonic throne thingies! Also just a minor quibble with this section of the article: "However, you've probably been paying for the game for at least a couple of years, so Jagex has gotten a couple hundred of your hard-earned dollars. Why carry on playing?" A couple is precisely equivalent to '2'. The games costs $5 a month or $60 a year. Playing for 2 (a couple of) years would therefore cost $120 which is NOT the same as a $200 (a couple of hundred) dollars. Call me pedantic :P Can we please have another Duke Freedom article? Nobody writes them better IMO. ~Ian
  16. Welcome to the boards! Read the rules, don't abuse them and you'll get along fine here :D Re: st_alphonso0: 'chicken feather' is your rank, which is dependant on the number of posts you have. As you pass different landmarks in your post count, you will acquire new titles to reflect this. Chicken feather is the lowest rank when a user has only made a handful of posts on Tip It. ~Ian
  17. You can attack one guard/man/anything, and his friends will just stand there and allow you to kill him. ~Ian
  18. You'll come back.... THEY ALWAYS DO  It's always sad to see an old(ish) player leave the game, but it's good you're not going for good. Chucking your account away would be a very bad idea - I know many people who regret doing that. ~Ian
  19. I think I remember you; your name rings a bell. You weren't the grapefruit guy were you? Oh god. ~Ian
  20. I use newb on occasion, but never noob because it's become a derogatory term, even though true 'noobs' do exist, it's used waaay too much these days - so much so that I try to avoid the word at all costs. ~Ian
  21. When I owned full infinity robes complete with master wand, they looked totally awesome. Yes I had a lot of people saying I looked like a mexican, but it was totally awesome. The robes are so bright everyone was rushing and following me or just saying "nice infinity". Why did I sell them?! :( ~Ian
  22. Well personally I've learnt the lesson that time spent on multiple accounts is time wasted, but if you're persistent about creating a new account, I think you should make a pure. After all, your main is more than likely an 'all-rounder' anyway. And if you go for the pure, try not to make a typical cookie-cutter pure, try something new, or at least uncommon. ~Ian
  23. It's a tie between: Getting P2P for the very first time Completing the legend's quest Getting 85 mining and mining my first rune ore ~Ian
  24. Hah, I can't believe there are some people out there still trying to pull this scam off. It's as old as P2P itself! Oddly enough, nobody's ever tried it on me yet - but it's always funny to read about such scammers getting reported - and then how fast they log off after the word "reported" is said to them :) ~Ian
  25. Welcome! Don't forget to reading the Tip It Forum rules and enjoy your stay! ~Ian
