Define think. Can animals think? All animals do is react. You shoot a gun, they run. Perception is a part of thinking, and animals certainly don't plan the day ahead, and commit organized crime. If they get thirsty, they seek water. If they get hungry, they seek food. There is no thought pattern. They are exactly equal to plants in that respect. ~Ian

Just send him a point-blank private message "Are you macroing?" If he doesn't respond to that, I think it's safe to assume he is a macro. But it's better to be sure because some people just don't like to talk. ~Ian

DBP, everything you said is completely logical and I agree with it completely. The only issue I side with the animals on is hunting for sport. That's just mean, unnecessary, and a reckless waste of life. ~Ian

In lower school my grades were very good, then they slumped a bit in middle school, but I started playing Runescape in upper school and they slowly rose now I'm at uni and they're pretty good again. ~Ian

what is the easiest way to getting member?
Iantiger replied to cooledude's topic in General Discussion
I can't remember it very well, but... *on the way home from Karate classes* Dad: Oh by the way, I'll pay for your Runescape membership Me: You know I play that game? Dad: Yeah I researched it I'll sign you up when we get home Me: OMG thanks! And now in the present day, I'm paying for members with my own debit card  ~Ian -
To quote you: True, we can SURVIVE without meat, but we'd be at a terrible disadvantage without it. There are many, many benefits to eating meat; nutrients and vitamins that we just can't gain from being vegetarians. I'm not going to pretend I'm some biologist and list all of these nutrients, but I can tell you that they exist. It follows that if our brain increased in size after becoming omnivorous, it should in theory, eventually decrease in size if we stop eating meat. You give a condition -> Reaction You remove that condition -> Reverse Reaction It's not a set-in-stone fact, but there's a high probability of this occuring. ~Ian

I agree; if I saw my cat being eaten I would probably instictively proceed to murder whoever was eating him - but that's only because we've developed an emotional attachment to domesticated animals. Some people eat duck, other people can't stand the idea. Likewise with horses. If you've developed the attachment, you wont eat it. However I believe eating meat is natural. The point in history when ice-age man decided to start eating meat thus becoming an omnivore rather than a herbivore can also be linked with one of a series of abnormally large evolutionary jumps in the size of the brain and therefore intelligence. Meat eating is partly responsible for where we are today as a species. ~Ian

My friend needed some blurite ore for the Knight's Sword quest, so he called upon me and my clan friends (The Leprechauns lol...we were all done up the same way via the Makeover Mage) and we followed him into the ice caves, then *zoom* we all fanned out around him to protect him. It was a truly awesome sight to behold. I remember getting into the mining guild and every mining level thereafter was like: OMG! My first rune item: rune legs cost me tonnes! Then I went and got poisoned at brimhaven to some natives and died and lost them =( Many, MANY more great memories! ~Ian

Are you a vegetarian? Do you support the idea? Have you ever been a vegetarian? Are you ever likely to become a vegetarian? If not, why not? If yes, why? Do you believe in animal testing? If no, what about for lifesaving drugs and medicines? Do animals have any rights and what are they? Discuss. Personally I value human life over animal life and would test on animals, perphaps even for cosmetics but I'm not sure about this (borderline). I believe the only way we will further our own species is to treat ourselves with superiority to the animals we share the planet with, and not to effectively "babysit" everything else. What do you think? I'm interested in your opinions. ~Ian

I'm not that knowledgable about teams outside of England so I'll list: Top 5 favourite Teams: 1. Luton 2. Rushden + Diamonds 3. Man City (Stuart Pearce you ledge) 4. Reading 5. Liverpool (dam you for beating us 5-3!) Top 5 Best English Teams (in my opinion, at the moment): 1. Chelsea - starting to slip up? 2. Man Utd - on the up, may catch Chelsea 3. Arsenal - hit form lately 4. Liverpool - not playing so good now 5. Spurs - they get the results when it matters Top 5 Best English League Players: 1. Steven Gerrard - Liverpool 2. Frank Lampard - Chelsea 3. Thierry Henry - Arsenal - he's always been amazing though 4. Craig Bellamy - Blackburn - what a great opening goal yesterday! 5. Robbie Keane - Tottenham ~Ian

Easy enough to program, but handy nonetheless. Sounds like a good idea IMO ~Ian

Strange as it may seem, I completely understand where you're coming from here. Being a Computer Science Student, I've already dabbled my toes in the Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence pools - and I have been lectured by one of the very best experts in modern day AI: Professor Kevin Warwick (world's first official cyborg - or so he claims). But I'm straying off the point, he says exactly the same as you do - Intelligence is an illusion. We know what we know, because we have the ability to learn. At the end of the day, we are no more intelligent than a machine or an animal, we have just learnt that bit more. We learn from others, and from our environment, but true intelligence does not exist. P.S. Sorry for restarting such an old topic, I just find it fascinating. ~Ian

What would happen if everyone cancelled their membership?
Iantiger replied to Chaos_Reborn's topic in General Discussion
Um Runescape would close down after a few weeks? What else do you think would happen? o_O ~Ian -
o.O conspiracy theory! It's certainly possible... I mean they must receive thousands of abuse reports each day... perhaps even tens of thousands, if their system was at least part-automated, and say they had a line in their code whereby: "If over the space of 1 minute, a player is reported by 10 different people for the same crime, he is automatically banned" It's certainly not an impossible theory. Got me worried now  ~Ian

Hehe, it sort of is, with Falador being similar to an old fashioned fort or castle, and the White Knights Castle inside is similar to what would be called a Keep. Then you've got all the shops inside the castle walls too :) ~Ian

Many a time we have all seen the posts on here: "I was hacked". 99% of these hackings were the fault of the player for downloading some third party program, or clicking an untrusted link, thus installing a keylogger or trojan on their computer. However once in a while, a person may be dead-set on denying that they did either of these things, claiming the hacking was done by "brute force", or in other words, there is nothing they could have done to prevent the hack. However, surely if brute force exists, Zezima, and other such highly recognised players would be the main target, and thus you would think Zezima would have been hacked countless times. What are your opinions/thoughts? ~Ian

Awesome story. I think anyone on Tip It would lend you a whip - you're like one of the modern day legends on these forums. Welcome to my sig pl0x. ~Ian

Another legend leaving?! You were *this* close to earning a place in my sig :( If you're mind is set on leaving, I wish you the best of luck for the future. ~Ian

Ever played ROSE online? I really like the shop idea in that game. Players can set up a store that takes up a 1x1 square on the games tiled map. They can give their store a "slogan" or "title" which might be a short description of what they're selling. Then any player that wishes to do so can intitiate a trade at the store just like they would with an NPC shop. The seller presets his prices for items, so there is no interaction required between the players required. In ROSE online you can go afk while your store is open, so tonnes of people leave theirs running overnight then come back in the morning to find they've sold all or most of their stuff. A good idea, but the servers would definitely get more crowded if you could afk your store in RS. ~Ian

I agree, they turned them from good into... a big pile of steaming poo. Sack the man who designed the new buckets! Btw, I love your sig blipo ~Ian

Post your "rare" Characters (*update pics on pg3 )
Iantiger replied to Krazyck's topic in General Discussion
Lol until you've gone through the grueling process of killing 3,000 chickens when you can only hit a max hit of 1 (with 1 str) and even then you don't hit 1's frequently (with 1 att)... then you are not in a position to say how "hard" it is or isn't. Besides, even nowadays, I'm turning the heads of some level 100+ people. That just goes to show how rare this type of character is. ~Ian -

Here's the latest pic of Omegawrayth + stats, taken earlier today. Currently I'm working for 65 woodcut then I'm off to yews to earn a few million to buy dragon chain. I calculated I need close to 20,000 chickens to get from 40 to 60 defence, which will take about 200 hours... but the feathers I gain in the process will sell for an extra million which is all good :) ~Ian
