  1. Hey guys, Today I achieved my target of 107 combat which brings me one level closer to what I consider the 'big' 110, when you truly become a renowned and respected player. Anyway, I haven't found anything to train on recently, and I'm desperately hoping you folks can send some suggestions my way. I've tried Pest Control, and that's good in small periods, but it's unreliable and can take a long time to find a decent world. I have bones to peaches, so that would solve all my food issues if you suggest a monster which drops normal bones. I also don't care about item drops, in fact it would help if I trained on a monster which didn't drop so many things, so that I don't have to keep banking. I just need fast exp. I used to train on bandits and dagganoths. Are they still the best things to train on? ~Ian
  2. I look forward with great anticipation to the future article reviewing the economy and the impacts of construction, and the one looking at farming would seem to be promising too! At last, something to get my teeth stuck into... happy Birthday TI Times and roll on future installments! ~Ian
  3. Sharing items is perfectly fine, it just may have looked a little suspicous to Jagex when items worth several million are traded away for free to somebody else. Another situation might be that you and your boyfriend live closeby and your IP addresses are identical perhaps, which means Jagex thinks you are logged onto two accounts at once and trading between them (which IS illegal). Anyway it's good to know you have resolved this. ~Ian
  4. A couple of days ago someone called H3ll Br4ker or something like that was holding a huge party. He must have given away several hundred million during the party. He was asking Runescape trivia or trading valuable things for random items like bronze mace, malted barley, etc. I was fast at the trivia and ended up with 3 whips, full dharoks, 10k deaths and 2.5 mil! Not a bad day's work when I only logged on to craft some natures and accidently stumbled upon the best party I've ever been to! ~Ian
  5. I'd been really lucky to attend a high levelled player's party. I ended up going home that day 13/14 mil better off, which finally meant I had enough for full infinity! So I was asking around everywhere, and I made a thread on the official forums. I got a reply and this person said to meet at edge which was convenient because I was already there. I hopped to his world and he said I should hurry because he had to go soon. He said he was by the bridge just north of Edge bank, and I didn't think anything of it because I know that bridge isn't in the wildy. As I approached him he ran off a bit more East into the forest between Edge and Varrock and started chopping a tree, I thought it was lag. This guy was level 50 or so anyway so there was no danger. I went to trade with him, and didn't realise that he was standing in the very edge of the wilderness, which meant I moved into it too. Almost immediately I was ice barraged, and only then did I notice his high level friend a little further north ice barraging me repeatedly. He got me down to 26HP before I stopped panicking and managed to do a Lumbridge Teleport with the runes I had on me. I was lucky to survive. Had I died I would have lost full dharoks, and the 11.5 Mil I had on me for the trade. It would have probably made me quit. I reported the noob that lured me, but didn't get the name of the level 104-106 player. I hope he is banned. ~Ian
  6. In terms of sheer value, the nicest thing I've ever done was to give my friend 4 easter eggs as a sort of 'thankyou' for all the great things he's done for me in RS. The only other thing that springs to mind is when Omegawrayth dressed up as santa claus and went around Runescape spreading the love! You can read about this Here. ~Ian
  7. I usually just don't voice my opinion if there are people harassing a newb - after all the newb will more than likely move on in a short while, and I might be training with these other people for the rest of the day so I'd rather not get on the wrong side of them. I admit, it was so long ago that I was a newb myself, I can't even remember if anyone ever called me a newb, or a looter, etc. ~Ian
  8. 40 Def pure at 17 combat - do a search for the Omegawrayth journals on the forums right here to read the couple of stories/journals I created. 85 Mining - huge achievement, was over the moon. 70 Smithing - obviously not as big, but still it was great to see my all time most admired skill in the seventies. 100 Combat - made me realise just how far I've come in the 4 years or so of scaping it took. ~Ian
  9. This has to be one of the best guides I have ever come across. You've clearly put a lot of work into this and it helps me to no-end when I'm hunting down the slayer assignments. ~Ian
  10. This belongs in the media forum I believe. ~Ian
  11. Runescape's not going anywhere, anytime soon. Just take a look at the World Selection page next time you go to login, and try to count up the players. Runescape's still one of the most popular MMORPGs around, and there are no signs of decline in interest. I remember a few weeks ago a friend of mine referenced me to an article that included Runescape's monthly turnover from membership fees. It was in the millions region. A company making that much money isn't going to blindly run away from their game, they're going to put everything they have into keeping this level of success, and maybe even increasing it. I think Runescape has at least another 5 years shelf-life GUARANTEED. After that however, it's somewhat unpredictable. ~Ian
  12. Oh teh noes George! This belongs in the... Help and advice board! ~Ian
  13. Usually a great name can be made from just sticking two words together which sound good together. For instance, my XBL gamertag is 'Sunsurge' and I also have a Runescape pure account of the same name. Other examples are: Chromezombie Lightstreamer Sleekspinner Ultrahippo All winners! ~Ian
  14. I understand where Bubsa's coming from on this one. This TipIt Times is probably the most bloggish-style one so far, and bloggish editions can be quite a nice change from time to time, but I do feel they should not be produced week in, week out as is happening now. It's all well and good to read about what other people think, or what parts of the game other people are having difficulty with, but it doesn't really relate to anyone other than the author. I myself would say MEII is probably the hardest quest in the game - that's probably the only part of the article where I can relate to what The Editor is saying, and understand where he's coming from. I don't think F2P need any more quests - Security Stronghold was a huge update and should keep the F2P bandwagon rolling for a good year at least. After all, it's only a demo. As has been said, Bubsa is a long-time member of this community, not afraid to say what he thinks, and has contributed many valuable discussions and posts over the years so if anyone's obliged to speak up, it's him - and I believe he has some valid points. ~Ian
  15. It depends which group of friends I'm with. At home, where I was born, my friends around there don't talk about it - to them it was a stupid game everyone tried when they were 13, and nobody plays anymore. At university however, living in a computer-science oriented house, I've got a bit of a war going on with my housemates who think that Diablo II is better than Runescape, and although I play both, I'd much rather play Runescape any day. Only one of my other housemates plays Runescape, but she's a newb so I help her out in the game and give her free stuff. ~Ian
  16. I used to only trust real life friends, but I have one truly great friend who I would trust my life with, even though we met over Runescape and live on opposite sides of the world. Nowadays I wouldn't even trust my real life friends as much as I trust him. We were in a low level clan together as newbies. I never really spoke to him any more than any of my other friends though. Then I created my own clan about a year later after our old clan had split up, and I asked him if he wanted to join and he said he would, and he co-founded this new clan. It lasted for a couple of years, it wasn't very big, and it was a lot of hard work but he was always willing to help with the clan, and even started up a clan shop which sold ores, bars, fish, runes, armour at ridiculously low prices to our own members. Sometimes I'd talk to him about what my goals were. Like "Have you seen the new dragon scimitar? I'm saving up for one now. I'm 10k away!". And he'd just offer me 10k there and then. Sometimes, I'd help him out in the same way. I remember this one time I was saving up for full infinity and he just offered me 2.5 mil to help towards it, which was like all the money he had in the world at that time. I refused, but knowing him, he probably gave the money to another of his good friends. Once I quit, and I thought it would be for good so I gave everything I had away to him. That included my full dragon (no chain though), and abby whip, when they were worth about 8 mil each. Then later on I returned to the game, and the first thing he said is "Do you want your stuff back?" and he gave everything back just like that. Shortly after the easter just gone, I really felt so much in his debt after all the stuff he'd done for me, I invested everything I had in 4 easter eggs and gave them to him. Now they're worth about 50 mil in total, but I think he gave 2 of them away to his friends, and 1 of them back to me when construction was released so I could fund my new house. There's no greater friend in all of Runescape, ~Ian
  17. I have to agree with most people on this thread - I can't see a crash anytime soon. Like you said, the Runescape economy is totally different from the real world economy because some items in the Runescape ecomony aren't affected by inflation - in fact the majority of items aren't. Yet you're making predictions about the Runescape economy based on the real world economy when we've already seen that the two are totally different - it just doesn't work that way. ~Ian
  18. Wow, I'm highly impressed. You should have made a little claymation with them. I especially like the KBD's lair - all it needs is a couple of noobs XD ~Ian
  19. There used to be a thread about this many years ago (ok so it was about 2 years ago, but 'many' sounds cooler). Basically if you divided your skill total by your combat you'd get a number. I think people decided that if the number was around 10-12 you had a good ratio of skills to combat, but this wouldn't be the same today, because more skills have been released since this calculation was made such as farming and construction, so people these days have higher skill total in general. ~Ian
  20. All questions to the help and advice board  ~Ian
  21. 'Noob' is so overused it really 'grinds my gears' (to quote Peter Griffin). I avoid it at all costs, it's become such an ordinary thing to say it's pretty much accepted in day to day conversation. For the love of god, can't these people think of something more original if they want to trade insults?! ~Ian
  22. YES! School's are back, that means a definite reduction in the number of annoying abyss pkers, which means I can get more nats crafted. Being a student, I've got the whole of september off, in fact term doesn't start till October 8th 8-) ~Ian
  23. To be honest, if I wasn't wasting my life on Runescape, I'd be wasting my life on some other game! Cursed technological age! *shakes fist* If you replace "What if Runescape never came along" with "What if computers never came along", I would probably never have let my grades slip up a little bit at school and as a result I might (that's a big might) be a straight A student, at Cambridge, with heaps of confidence, driving a porsche! *shakes fist* ~Ian
  24. Questions = Help And Advice board if you could keep that in mind for the future  ~Ian
