  1. Wasn't "The Eyes of Glouphrie" a sequel to Monkey Madness? Obviously, it wasn't "Monkey Madness 2" or anything, but it did continue the storyline. It seemed pretty obvious that the series will continue at some point.
  2. I've been at the yews for a while. There are more people there on the German server than usually on any given English server. There was one chucklehead telling people to speak English. Quite an ambassador.
  3. I took five years of German, so I am excited about the new server. When I went to log in, there were 300 people on the members server. I logged into the Catherby yews, where I was cutting. Of the 300 people , 10 were at the yews, all speaking English. Almost defeats the purpose, but oh well.
  4. I usually enjoy the discussions on Runescape economics, and this thread is no exception. I think that a lot of the previous discussions I've read have missed a very large point. If prices fluxuate on certain items, it's only because their inherent worth has fluxuated. The only people who are really affected are those who assign a personal view of an item's worth after the community's value has changed. And I think a discussion on poverty highlights a major difference between Runescape and real life economies. In real life, poverty is as much a function of class and education as anything else. In Runescape, everyone is on a pretty even playing field. If you're unlucky enough to lose an expensive item, a little work can get it back: train until you can alch yew longs, for example. However, in the real world, if you're in an impoverished state, chances are things are going to stay that way.
  5. I agree with the wheel theory, but I think people may be slightly off. With or without the ring, there is a slot on that first hypothetical roulette wheel, and if you land on that spot, you move to a second wheel of "rare" drops. The Ring of Wealth just makes the rare slot on the first wheel bigger so that you land on it a little more often. At some point I remember reading something from a reliable source that confirms this, but to be honest, I can't attest to the reliability anymore. It's just what I remember reading somewhere.
  6. I'm just wondering what people's opinions are on the least used bank and the least used general store. If you have any ideas, please share them. And if you disagree with an idea, It'd be useful to know what people use the location for. I took a quick look at the surface map only, and here are my nominees: Bank Nardah General Store Bandit Camp (Desert or Wilderness) Gnome Tree Village Lighthouse Nardah Port Khazard Tyras' Camp West Ardougne
  7. A couple of people on prior pages have said things to the effect that Germans are not very good at English. I've had quite a contrary experience. I've travelled to Germany and Austria a couple of times, and I've found that nearly everyone is quite good at speaking English. Whenever I'd try to communicate in German, many people would just respond to me in English because they knew it'd be easier. The only group of people that have trouble with English are the older generations because English wasn't taught in schools back in the day. Also, I spent most of my time in cities, so perhaps the rural population is not as adept at English. But I look forward to honing my German skills on the foreign servers. As of now, I can communicate well enough, but my grammar is atrocious. Deutch ist meine lieblingsprache.
  8. I think this is a neat little calculation. Kudos to the discussion. I'm a 16.3. If you wanted to do something a little more sophisticated, I suggest using a Herfindahl Index. It's a statistic first used in economics to measure industry concentration, but you can use it to measure any kind of dispursion. Here's the calculation in text form, because I don't know how to post math formulae. 1) Take the proportion of all your skills to your skill total (i.e. if you have 15 Slayer and 1500 Skill Total, it'd be 0.01) 2) Square all the proportions. 3) Add up all the squared proportions. 4) You should get a number between 0 and 1. The closer you are to 0 the more even your skills are. The higher the number, the more you've got a varying range of skills. Obviously, this isn't directly comparing total skills to combat level, but it's another statistic you could use to analyze your character. Or you could just really impress your friends.
  9. Looks like a fun-lovin' bunch.
  10. I think the only reason that Temple Trekking isn't mentioned more as worst is because nearly everyone has forgotten it exists.
  11. I've been reading and posting in the various threads on this topic and come to the conclusion that this mini-game seems to be very appealing to a certain group of people and totally worthless to another. I haven't seen a lot of in between, but then again, why would an ambivalent person post. I happen to enjoy this mini-game and plan on using it to train thieving in the future. Maybe not exclusively, but certainly to mix things up and stave off boredom.
  12. How do you get to the mahogany trees off the northeast coast of Mos Le'Harmless? I can get to the pirate island, just not those little islands with the mahogany and teak. They are in the woodcutting guide so I'm assuming it's possible. A thread back in August didn't actually answer the question, though.
  13. I think you're forgetting about the demand side of supply and demand. While the new items don't affect the availability of dragon items, I'm sure a few people will be using their resources towards getting the new items instead. How great a fall in demand will be is up in the air, but I'm sure there will be something.
  14. Voila http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=474890
  15. I doubt that Hunting is even remotely as complicated as Construction, so I don't think that Jagex would've needed as much time to write and test it. I think that the new skill has potential. It could be very good. I suspect they've made it more than just a Slayer for little animals.
  16. So you're saying that you have enough money to get to a level where you can make all that money back? If I take you at your word, there isn't really a choice.
  17. I'm thinking that the next quest released is going to be pretty hard. Two reasons: 1) the last couple have been pretty easy; and 2) I think they're going to make it a challenge for people to keep their quest capes. That's just a gut feeling.
  18. I thoroughly enjoy doing quests. They're by far my favorite part of Runescape. I'm about an hour away from getting to the level required to do my last quest. I actually think my interest in Runescape will diminish now that I'll have to wait every two weeks to have a new quest. I've used Quest Guides in the past, but I won't anymore. I'll squeeze out as much entertainment as I can from the new quests. Oh, I also imagine with the release of the quest capes, there will be plenty of people using the guides exclusively.
  19. I was hoping to have other people run ess for me to train my RC level.
  20. Is there an official world for nature runecrafting?
  21. I think this is the most likely scenario.
  22. Two things about the upcoming Quest Cape that I was thinking about: 1) What will the stat bonuses be? The Behind the Scenes mentioned that the 99 Skill Capes will have bonuses associated with the respective skills, but obviously quests have no particular attributes that would lend themselves to a single item. 2) When Jagex adds new quests, will people lose their Quest Capes until they do the new quests? I highly doubt that would be the case, but it would seem that Quest Capes will get increasingly difficult to obtain, whereas Skill Capes would get slightly easier as updates add new experience building methods.
  23. First of all, check the P2P forum, there are already a couple of guides out there. In terms of items, off the top of my head, you'll need a pickaxe, hammer, the key to the elemental workshop, and at least 8 coal ores. There may be more, but the information is out there so I shouldn't have to think about it.
  24. I got from 55 to 61 for Lunar Diplomacy by smithing gold bars with the Family Crest gauntlets. I got the gold ore by mining in the Between a Rock... mine and shipping the ore to the bank using the enchanted Ring of Charos.
  25. I was under the impression that your time stayed the same and the max points increased. I'm not sure where that impression came from, though. It'd be interesting to get some data to try and regress some sort of formula.
