  1. Are Slayer rings tradeable? I'm guessing no, as their cost to make would be fairly low after gaining the knowledge. There'd be little incentive spend the time to learn how when you could just buy them cheap. New Slayer helmets would be the same way, I suppose, apart from the black mask cost. (I'm at work and can't access the GEdb to check.)
  2. This was one of the best quest rewards in a long time, in my opinion.
  3. I missed the forums over the weekend, that's for sure. Great job for all the hard work to get something up and running, basically from scratch. And sorry for the mental anguish that this situation probably caused. I'm a little peeved about the whole thing, and I'm just a casual user.
  4. So you can you just do 5 Burthorpe tasks and then jump to any slayer master to start the points? I'm hoping yes. And can you make the slayer helmet with a used mask or does it have to have all 10 charges? I'm guessing no.
  5. I don't have a problem with people voicing their opinions or disagreeing with something that impacts them negatively. That said, I think it's totally unreasonable to be reaching for the pitchforks and torches at this point. First, I think the prices set for the new items are fine. Ever since the GE came out, it seems as though people don't want to accept the fact that exp. has a monetary value. Secondly, for the people who are all bent out of shape about the trade restrictions, don't forget that Summoning was in development since late-2006. They already set (and announced) the release date and only then, after the GE was released, did they say anything about loosening new item restrictions. On a message board we can think of great ideas to improve a game, but it's ridiculous to expect them right away.
  6. Hey there, Johnny Wetblanket. Isn't there a parade for you to rain on somewhere?
  7. As the suggestion is optional, I don't have a problem with the concept. A few adjustments I would make: 1) The number of times you have an encounter before you can switch off shoulder be increased. 2) As a deterrent to the autoers still left, I don't think you should be able to eliminate all randoms. Another option would be to just decrease the randoms' frequency.
  8. That is what they said when they released the Karamja Diary, but then they made one for Varrock. So I'm guessing they'll start making some for popular areas too. I'm guessing they'll go back to lesser used areas. Remember Varrock was a guaranteed content poll, not necessarily Jagex's first choice.
  9. I just hope the original spammer copied and pasted and didn't actually spend the time to type it out.
  10. Indeed. There's almost no chance they would let players make an instantaneous profit off of Miscellania. I think the MTK guide says 65/maple. I personally doubt the trade value would even be that high, as that's just free seeds/eggs/rings. That said, I would surely take advantage if they did it.
  11. I've seen this point raised a number of times in the many threads just like this one. My question: Why would Jagex be biased, and what in the world is meant by "suit their own benefits?" It makes it seem like Jagex has something to gain by market manipulation. Jagex could always manipulate prices if they had wanted. All it would've taken was adjusting alch values. In my opinion, I doubt they would've gone to all of the trouble in creating the GE just to do that. Also my opinion: Prices have changed because the institutions that process the economy have changed. It may be different than World 2 previously, but it is indisputably more efficient, and that is a good thing.
  12. Do we have an idea if they're going to increase the limit with the release of new quests? Or are they going to make a ratio to 30k? I can see the merit in each method, but personally I'd prefer to add to the limit over time.
  13. I just did an eBay search. I only found one account for sale (just keysearched 'runescape'; there might be others). That account was 107 combat level, 1500 total levels with 90 somethings in strength, magic, and fletching. Also, 191 quest points and has a bunch of high level items, etc. The current bid is $100. Obviously that could go up, but here's my point: That doesn't seem terribly worthwhile. Certainly a farmer couldn't make as much money/hour as they could trading like before. Even businesspeople in China won't waste valuable sweatshop manhours. EDIT: I've never searched for accounts before, so there may be a going rate of which I'm not aware.
  14. Finally, somebody thought before posting. He said the "few lines of code" thing way before the quest point change was even considered. I think everyone would agree that would make it more complicated to code.
  15. I think we can take this as a lesson in bad experiment design. Too many factors involved other than p2p/f2p.
  16. It's hard to accurately attribute the drop in numbers to legitimate players leaving or RWTers. Some of that drop is likely a loss of RWTers, how much is up to debate. (Plus, I think they added some worlds, so that would cause some thinning as well.)
  17. This is exactly what the Grand Exchange already does.
  18. I'm trying to think of what features a Player Owned Shop would have. To be honest, I can't think of any that go beyond the Grand Exchange. A few points: - Being a central market, the GE is likely many times easier to use than what might be developed as a POS - Players couldn't set prices outside the GE range, else it opens the door for RWT. - I guess you could put up more items than the 6 allowed in the GE, but that seems a minimal improvement - Player owned shops could also be used to create items (i.e. like an anytime assist system), but this would make creating high level items and gaining experience much too easy Are there other features that could be implemented? I guess having GE access from a POH would be something.
  19. It's called a phone. If you have a credit card, you have a phone. Don't be so dramatic. I doubt many of the people paying for members would be if the only access was through phone or post. I think it was an accurate statement. (also, I think having a credit card is not necessarily a proxy for telephone access, but playing an internet computer game probably is)
  20. I didn't start playing Runescape until what equates to 18th grade, no joke. There's no doubt that playing hurt my grades, but then again I have only myself to blame for playing during classes. If it wasn't Runescape, it would've been something else.
  21. The 5% limit is truncated when it would fall below alch or store buy value. That was explicitly stated when the Grand Exchange was released.
  22. I had considered this, but don't you need get a lot of the points from the museum to get access to the barge? I don't remember, really, but if you do, I kind of doubt that Wolf Whistle would use the digsite stuff. I'm inclined to think that the digsite will be used for Summoning, but maybe a higher level aspect. It should be interesting to find out.
  23. From the very beginning, they've said the low end would be cut off at shop prices/alch value
  24. I've only seen the flowers used defensively to thwart off poachers. It takes a special kind of jerk to use it to disrupt someone who was minding their own business. In my experience, though, chin hunters are frequently that kind of person.
  25. No big surprise, but nothing but regular eggs came up in the GE. Certainly, they could change that after the release, but it would seem to indicate that they won't be tradeable. I guess someone who has one could try and P2P trade it now.
