  1. Easy there, fella. All those things are pretty standard policies for a company to have. And for good reason. For instance, imagine if all the recently disgruntled players had easy access to Jagex and its employees. I think that's reason enough for the separation.
  2. How in the world could anyone ever prove that?
  3. I think any running could gain no more than 3k per trip, which I'm guessing would put a damper on things. That is, unless an adjustment to balanced trading is made.
  4. This may be a minor point in Qeltar's argument, but this situation does not invoke estoppel. A classic example of estoppel (one I learned the first week of law school, in fact) is where a property owner sees his neighbor building a skyscraper a few feet onto his land. He says nothing. Then when the building is finished, he says, "Aha, that's my building!" The pertinent feature is notice, which in this case, Jagex did not have until reported by other players. I do agree that it's a shame that such drastic measures be taken for a marginal name. But the ol' slippery slope is another law school staple, and the line has to be drawn somewhere. People may have been a little too quick on the trigger to report for our taste, but even I have to admit the name could be taken the wrong way.
  5. Thank you for pointing out the solution. I doubt this will be implemented for Barrows, so sorry to the threadmaker on that one, although as has been stated, there are other options. Whether you take them is up to you. And if selling to general stores was based off the GE, there wouldn't be nearly as much incentive to sell through it. That would throw things out of whack.
  6. Really? You really think they're lying? So, you mean to say that Jagex is not going to make improvements or at least try to make players accept the changes. Really? I understand you're upset about something, but c'mon, be reasonable.
  7. First, there are still plenty of members bots, etc. Secondly, I doubt many people would just start playing this game for $5/month without prior exposure. I know I wouldn't. The game would slowly die out.
  8. One of the reasons for the drastic RWT changes was the amount of resources spent on the problem. I don't see this decreasing the manpower devoted to this and not other projects.
  9. Actually, I'm pretty sure this is the very thing that everybody is talking about.
  10. I get your point. But to be fair, you're presupposing that each of those categories' opinions are not legitimate. In many cases, they very well may be, however they differ from yours. Which category was that?
  11. Man, I remember the good old days when everyone complained about autoers. Wait for it...!
  12. Some of Qeltar's recent posts I haven't been too keen on, but this one I'm fully behind. To add my own thoughts, the changes have generally eliminated two things: 1) a fun diversion; and/or 2) ways to gain items/money. I'm pretty sure those things are in still abundant supply in other forms. Any player who is not willing to adapt should maybe step back and consider all the alternatives available to them. There have been some creative solutions proposed to re-introduce legitimate activities back into the game. If we're constructive and persistent, hopefully we can have these changes implemented.
  13. Not sure which of so many threads I should add this to, but this one's as good as any: I think Jagex's big mistake was making all these changes so soon after GE. I understand the Machiavellian thinking here, getting it all out of the way at once, but I think there'd be less resistance if people had more confidence in the GE.
  14. I like this idea. I would suggest that it be limited to less than once per 15 minutes. Weighing the frequency that people actually make gifts against the legimitate restriction of RWTers, I personally think that'd be reasonable.
  15. I don't think you mean communism. I think you're trying to argue that that Jagex is making RuneScape socialist. It's an important difference, although either way, it's incorrect. Ironically, having Jagex sell gp would make the game more socialist, although even then the real world cost would likely be set by demand, which is a capitalist feature.
  16. If Jagex could reliably ban bots, I don't think we'd be going through all these changes. I think the risk of auto-leveling is at least present, even if it isn't a huge worry. I'd rather not have randoms myself, but I'd certainly welcome more substantial rewards. I think that's reasonable, all things considered.
  17. If they made the rule effective for all current "friends," I doubt any RWTers would be prepared for that. It's a good idea, but it doesn't really stop multiple-account trading.
  18. I don't think this is interesting because we will learn something about the release. I just think it's interesting the way I find puzzles and mysteries interesting.
  19. Thoroughly impressed with the person who found that. Sharp eye.
  20. Ummm, I guess I'll just take your word that they were actually bots. From your description, any of those "bots" is indistinguishable from my character. Not saying you're definitely wrong. You certainly haven't convinced me, though.
  21. That's certainly a literal take on something I didn't see in the Knowledge Base. What I did read was that market price was based on supply and demand. No buyers, no demand. With the tuna example, it would plausibly be explained that the unsuccessful seller was just at the end of a long queue where buyers were paying above the minimum. In that scenario, the price remains stable, while that seller remains unhappy.
  22. I don't know if the cause of the 1 gp bump was natural or intentional, but I would make one suggestion: If you are selling on the low end of the scale, and the price readjusts to take you off the range, shouldn't you just sell at the new low-end price? I can't think of a reason why someone would be upset for selling something at a higher price than they listed. I see some value in shaking off stale offers, but part of the GE's value is that you can forget about the items until they sell. I don't think this is what happened here. My theory would be that, since we're now a week after the update, the market value protocol can take a full running average to set item price.
  23. Here's a great actual headstone from Tombstone, Arizona, ironically enough: Certainly not applicable to Runescape, but knowing Jagex, the ones they do give us will likely have a sense of humor.
  24. I agree. Somebody wandering by would have notice that a pile is about to drop. Also, perhaps the recently deceased will only have to grab the gravestone to get all their stuff back, rather than scramble for every single item. That seems less likely, though.
  25. I could do without those two pillars. That'd clear up a lot of space. Then again, what would hold up the top menu?
