The irony... "well" instead of "good," my friend. I spose this is the case if you trade in pvp rewards. This is a valid arguement. However, if he bought the whip and fury, this would even out. And furthermore, if the person who died bought his stuff back, that's LESS money. Inflation has more to blame for money created from nowhere. Not really: to know why we have to look why inflation happens: it actually means that there is "more money versus items" - so "money is getting less scarce".. Now the only way inflation/deflation won't happen is if the same amount of money in total has left the game (from every player) as "value" in items has entered the game.. (Notice that when the value of items increases the value created by items also grows faster, so if the money entering the economy and the value by items entering the economy are both constant the inflation should cancel itself out someday). However a pker brings in money: even if he buys for that money a new item it doesn't cancel out inflation: it only cancels out inflation if earning the money takes the same time as earning his armour.

Has Jagex announced plans to rebalance melee?
pulli23 replied to NotoriousPSC's topic in General Discussion
But an update like that would be almost as big as the update from rsc to rs2. (Also basic weaponry has to be updated, with that also the monsters, and maybe some skills to incoorporate these weaponry better). I don't think it will anymore sound more like the "we learned from rs2 on how to make a game better so we do it now good in mechscape" stuff. -
Wait for a second: you can't just say that the average is the middle between your maximum and minimum loads, first of all isn't it an equal distribution (it isn't a guass distribution, but rather a binominal distribution, which means the chance for "real high" numbers is bigger than the chance for "real small" numbers). Secondly -more importantly- it's fundamentally wrong to do this: since the yield/herb type is influenced by each other.. Meaning you can only draw conclusions when looking from the whole thing (and then look back saying: a herb from MTK has a x% chance to be tarromin, y% to be harrarlander etc). But on the other hand this looks very, very interesting: I made myself some extensive tests about the chances for specials etc, and only the chances when farming herblore I still miss (ow and also the data on farming). - What is your sample size?

Removal of new high level potions in PvP
pulli23 replied to The Observer's topic in General Discussion
Can we save the "You're stupid for not getting 99 herblore" and "You're a loser not to be able to buy a GS" etc for the RSOF? It wasn't aimed at you lol (at the one above you). It was just to show the flawed logic: why should high level weaponry be more "compulsory" than high level skills when combatting? - isn't runescape based around skills? BTW I updated my post with a suggestion about how I think it would be fair.. -
Removal of new high level potions in PvP
pulli23 replied to The Observer's topic in General Discussion
yet I can't call you stupid for not getting 96 herblore? - I find it stupid only a very, very small part of the whole game helps with combat actually.. We're 1 "character" and that whole character should help in a fight. Now it's arguable that these potions were just too strong (and it was an "everything or nothing" case), but I'm all for getting more skills involved with combat! Something which might've helped is by making these potions work like a "proportion": the potions would be tradable, but untill you've got the required level it only works for a proportion.. Looking at them a formula like this would be nice: "proportion = 2* level / required_level - 1" (with 0 <= proportion <= 1). So they start working from half the level needed to make, and then rise in strength untill they hit their max at the required lvl. Such a formula would still give herblore an untradable advantage, yet won't cause the "all or nothing" problem it has now! -
sorry to say: but I found the articles quite boring, and unusefull. - is there really happening so little in runescape that the articles are about those generic subjects? All that social stuff I think is way over exaggerated in reality (An huge proportion from our tax goes to people who just try to draw conclusion about societies.), so please don't take it to runescape too :(. The first article I found a bit like an unshamefull advertisement to spread lies. I would like to see some more in-depth articles about runescape & (even better) jagex: what do the new updates have of possible influence, what's jagex' opinion. - What new ground-breaking game experience isn't truly discovered. - How did jagex completely miss the point (or hit the nail on it's head)? - THese articles could apply to any mmorpg - they aren't really about runescape!
-
as said before you should see the quests in perspective: when legends came out (back in rsc I believe) we didn't even have "barrows", or anything like that -so it was one of the most difficult quests!
-
Actually, if you don't care at all about firemaking, and have no plans to train it I doubt you can consider it "free".. The money training fm is about the same as buying a d-axe (and you can't get it back).. ANd on top of that there's quite some time involved into training firemaking.

hmm thanks for the replies, just another question: what's the layout of the menagery? (1 door, 2 doors -and if 2 doors, is it 2 doors on the opposite end or 2 doors around a corner-, 3 doors or 4 doors?)
-
So you can't use the ancient/lunar teleports..? :(
-
Well I want to create a 100% top functionality house: so that means, 2 studies, and as many portal rooms as needed for all spells I can possibly cast.. Now I often see that people only add 3 portal rooms, why is this - can you only use normal teleports or something at portals? - what is the actual number of teleport-portals that can be build?
-
=D> (I clapped for you, happy now?) - The defense/armour doesn't have the slightest influence over the maximum or "average" hit if your still hit- other than spectral/divine shields nothing reduces the damage done. However I doubt you hit "most of the time"
-
I range the mutated, amazing xp (Hardly ever hit 0).. And there are lots of safe-spots in that room.. Sadly about a month ago their charm rate was redone (instead of crimsons it became gold the majority of the time).
-
None of the quests were really "hard".. One could say Mep2 wasn't easy without a guide: it involved a lot of "going around" through the temple just to discover where that lightbeam would go.. Ow and those handholds, those things (needed to pass them 6 times :( ).. Also gathering the materials requires some attention (but by then you could've opened the shortcut from the elven area/UP). Other than that, WGS might be difficult for the unprepared, low level fighter.. (Nearly got myself killed in that first fight with the balance elemental).. But most quests I did over 3 years ago, and I honestly can't remember them anymore, they're all easy!

Correction: you can not connect to another unless you know their IP-adress. (Unless they set their connection up using specific protocols to communicate around the Internet Protocol, ie hamachi/VPN - but even then it's far from "easily"). - Sorry but I will keep correcting you untill you stop spreading mis-information about this. ANY connection that is made NEEDS to know the IP - heck even LAN connections NEED to know the IP of the router. (You connect with the router, NOT with the PC directly, the router often behaves like a hardware firewall, and blocks data tranfer FROM the router, to your PC - However DDOSing happens outside the router, you pc doesn't need to recieve any data for a ddos attack to work). That you need to have an IP before you can establish a connection should be pretty much common knowlenge (and even common sense). - Your IP adress is like your Postal Adress: if you sent a letter(data) to someone you need to know their postal (IP) adress. If you didn't know it how would anyone know where to send the data to? - How would your internet explorer get the data from the webserver if they didn't know your addres (so they knew where to sent to?).. - How would you connect to someone's lan if you didn't know where he is "located"? What would you say, how do you DEFINE a person? - For these you all need to knkow their IP.. And saying 'well but if you could connect you would just see their ip'. - When talking about hacking etc there is no such thing as "see": it's "in the memory", and you manually describe what should be showed - however with these things there isn't a standard anymore! Anyways, back on topic, it still startles me how anyone would be capable of creating a bot-network for a ddos, yet wastes this network on a simple RUNESCAPE account. (You can get mega money selling a bot-network to certain companies)..
-
Actually once you leave the wilderness you're unblocked..
-
Please, for the love of god, SHUT UP NO VIRUS SOFTWARE/FIREWALL SOFTWARE CAN HIDE YOU IP. Your public (WAN) IP is one of the most vital organs of your internet: the server that has to send you data back has to know the location to sent to, so it has to know your IP. So if you ever went hiding your IP you wouldn't be able to retrieve any data from the internet. Similarly, connecting to any server (webservers even) makes your ip clear to someone. - There's theoritically nothing that can be done to prevent ddos attacks. Even blocking the offensive IP's at your firewall won't do any good: they'll not get on your network (so the lan works), but they still are capable of blocking all internet traffic. (All data still goes to your router, where it's blocked). - At least, if they used an UDP attack (TCP/IP attacks wait for a confirmation reply/till timeout, where UDP just sends data as fast as possible). Also notice the difference between a ddos and a dos: a distributed denial of service attack uses a lot of infected pcs to send data towards the victim: making the power much larger, and making it next to impossible to detect.. (The ones who actually do something are "victims" themselves too: they are infected by some virus, and their upload will be used for the attack). dossing - on the other hand happens from 1 single connection (and is trackable).. The only thing that can be done is using triggers at your ISP level: if lots of similar packages come from a lot of hosts in a very fast rate (at the same time) your ISP should maybe block them.... I know large parties (companies, goverment etc) often do such things.. However it's a long time since I heard of ddos-ing users. There's a lot of trouble involved in building a bot-network: most modern virus-scanners/firewalls easily see if your are infected with a bot that goes ddos-ing someone. - Also under XP (and up) a lot of unsafe connections are closed by default, so the bots have to use specific ports.. That said: users won't be able to catch your IP from IRC (it's actually designed to cloack your IP - so other users can only catch the ISP part). - Yet IRCOPs can of course get your IP (since they are the owners of the IRC-servers).

11th June 2009 - Macro-detection systems update
pulli23 replied to Mil's topic in General Discussion
JaGEx has already stated that they won't be banning people using mousekeys, what makes you so certain that they will? Because it DID happen in the past, even after 11 june.. So what makes you so certain they will not? - They have proven more than once to be incapable of keeping their word.. -

Now since no one can ever be sure (halting problem is unsolvable for both the human as well as computers) if another person is using a bot, banning is completely wrong - explain to me, why should someone be banned if they are innocent.. OW AND STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW JAGEX CAN REMOVE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION LIKE THEY WANT: they can't, it's completely ilegal to do unless given a refund or a proof in advance. (meaning, you shouldn't have to ask for proof).. - Problem is, going to court is more expensive these days than a year's subscription, and jagex knows that, so they know they can just ban anyone cause nobody would ever go to the court for this. Jagex own our accounts, we're paying to rent them in a way. They can do WHATEVER they want with them and we can't complain. We agreed in the terms and conditions. People should chill out over this. If one or two people get caught and they're innocent it doesn't matter too much tbh. Not to you at least (unless it IS you). Jagex aren't lying either... Jagex doesn't own it indeed: but even if they do, that doesn't matter: I paid for the usage of the account: and if jagex thinks I'm not doing the things I should be doing with it it's in their full right indeed to take the account back. - HOWEVER it is in my right as customer to get my money back for receiving a bad service - what I do doesn't matter at all (as long as it's not illegal to LAW).. Similar to those house/car/book-rent organizations: they can't just take the rented thing back, even if you doesn't follow their specific rules. They can "initiate a take-back process", however this ALWAYS includes giving back the extra money. -

Anybody believing their claim is more foolish than I imagined.. Similar to the inability of virus scanners to detect all virusses it is impossible to detect all macroers.. Such a system would solve the halting problem, something which is proven in 1936 to be unsolvable already! quote from Now since no one can ever be sure (halting problem is unsolvable for both the human as well as computers) if another person is using a bot, banning is completely wrong - explain to me, why should someone be banned if they are innocent.. In december last year I was banned twice in a row (without even a day inbetween), for macroing, no reason ever given to me - And appealing was completely fruitless ("we can't give you more information" was the message). - Point is, I always pay a year in advance, so I don't want to risk my money on a faulty system which I have no control over anymore at all! Well maybe 10 take another subscription the second I leave: but you know, numbers of subscriptions don't say everything. If Jagex gets known for having poor consumer support (by outsiders) I can tell you very, very many subscriptions are being cancelled. - That's why I said it would be a good case for a consumer organization. (Sadly there aren't really well known ones here that review internet based companies). -
I own the set already lol, not planning to sell it just now..

No chance to appeal? Sigh, I quit for sure now once my subscription is over.. Really appealing isn't a service or anything: IT'S A NECESSARY FEATURE TO PREVENT AND REDUCE THE MISTAKES! Really, without any chance to combat a decision by jagex HOW DO WE KNOW FOR SURE JAGEX MAKES A CORRECT DECISION? - This is outrageous, and completely against the spirit of being an open company - Actually if this is set through it's something consumer organizations should adress! -
Of course I have 68 summoning (and only 250 more crimsons to collect before I can boost it to 79) Other stats are all in the high-80's..
