You know it was/is inevitable? - With the update route runescape chose the last few years 1 iteming and all that kind of things have become more and more a "valid" option: Defensive items hardly bother nowadays, kills generally come from 1-2 lucky hits. Items like ags, (actually all godswords) just made the hit-inflation going out of control.. With RS' current formula there's nothing that can oppose 2 lucky hits of an ags. (and now the new weaponry adds to this as well) Now if that's the best/most effictive way to fight in the long run: people will use it! Even if the old wildy was still around! Now how to fix it? - Well more defensive items WON'T help: they will just be more expensive (thus more risk) , and won't prevent the 1-2 lucky hits. The only thing that actually might improve is the addition of "more effective hp": saradomin brews, higher level limit (hp grows faster than max hit from strength, so that's a very effective approach), or damage reducing armory (but not something that depends on luck to active). As long as we keep getting more powerfull weapons without something to negate this power 1 - iteming will stay unbalanced!

Uhm you could click "quote" on that guide and check how it's made..

Also a similar message pops up if you've done the pre-quest for regicide and turn to f2p (yes I did that quest as my very last thing before getting f2p some time ago)..

What a point of showing off the results to the outside world - anypoll can be hidden in my opinion once all votes are "inside". It's not like you have any direct influence over JAGEX actions anyways! The only ones who need to know the results are the people at jagex' headquarters: and they probably have seen it!

One small question about GWD (Bandos in particular)
pulli23 replied to aceripper's topic in Help and Advice
bandos has very strong range defense, so range is always "weak" vs melee. As opposed to armadyl who has to be ranged. But indeed, if your in a "decent" team with a good tank you won't get hit by the boss at all! (armadyl will hit you a lot).. And I believe all minions are equal strength. So yes bandos is much easier (especially with diamond bolts): however people keep telling you should always range at armadyl cause that's easier. - This is simply not true: however it is true that at bandos range isn't the most efficient way to defeat it. (and at armadyl it is the most efficient way). -
Ranging in PVP using the wilderness ditch

They're weak to the Salve Amulet. Spiritual Warriors aren't. So, pretty good reason to go with the zombies there. As far as attack style, no difference. When he says Spiritual warriors, he's referring to the ones that replace the magic axes in the other realm. Forgot its name. ghostly warriors.. Lol this confused the hell out of me untill I noticed you mean the ghostly warriors >.<. Well zombies are slightly stronger, and CAN be spread more apart.. (they have a larger area) + it's harder too keep them "aggressive". So for pure xp I think ghostly warriors are faster... Zombies on the other hand have the extra from being able to use prayer, so dharoking might be possible(?) (the temple above can help you), and they drop actually good stuff! As for which style: mostly "training monsters" are chosen in such a way that they have neglectable defense (you hit almost no 0's)... The attack style only changes the amount of 0's you hit, but if you hit anyways it won't matter! (apart from using aggressive that improves your max hit by 1)

I did: but that guide describes exactly how they're best fought.. It's basically: melee armor + pray range + do everything so the task is over ASAP (thus cannoning).. Another thing I tried is safespotranging with a crystal bow on long range.. You can reach futher than they can in that case but it's slow + very annoying.. (hard to find safespots..)

Help with Skills training(Range,Mage,Thiev,Slay,Agil,Summon
pulli23 replied to OmidSan's topic in Help and Advice
just use a crossbow with mith bolts (or if you're 55+ slayer broad bolts).. There's no "cheapest" way to acquire items: it will always cost you the same amount. (if you make them yourself you could just as easy sell them instead of using)... -
praying during slayer: not really necessary?
pulli23 replied to nickeley102's topic in Help and Advice
hmm I know about that tactic: it's similar to a cannon.. And I have a similar hatred for such tactics, requires too much micromanagement.. (often after some time the familair will stop attacking the monster since you don't attack it anymore). ow and geyser titans aren't really "in reach for everybody" you know? -
praying during slayer: not really necessary?
pulli23 replied to nickeley102's topic in Help and Advice
I really wonder how you can stand combat familairs? - By the time they finally attack I've finished most monsters already, or (in case I didn't finish them) they're so strong that -at least the karamthulu overlord- doesn't do any real damage! Rather make a bit of extra profits in that time + have fun safe spotting.. I myself also don't use prayer at most tasks: I don't cannon (if I play runescape I want to relax, not click a lot) and I'm always looking for new safespots (and using them).. specters are about the only thing I pray at: simply because their distant attack is longer than any bow can reach! (Yes I WILL fight with a longbow on long range if that extends the range just that littlebit that I can safespot without getting damaged myself). -
My numbers? A rate of 0.250 means you get on average a 0.250 charm a drop: so on average you get 1 charm every 1/0.25 = 4 kills (that's the average drop frequency). And the percentage is "25%". (silly people who thought up working with percentages..). But as I said: I only have 1 task (179) to backup my data about nechryaels, that's nowhere near enough to make a good guess. As for hellhounds: I really wonder why people like them so much: they're "hard" to kill, and their drop "composition" of all type charms is the same as fire giants, but just less drop rate!

Well if money isn't a problem at all: then making the "best" summon is always the "best"... However I don't think that's "best" for you.... I did my calculations for spirit daggs: and at "60 crimsons an hour" the switch point is at 1M an hour (with the current prices: don't forget that granite has dropped too lately). More crimsons (like 120 which is common for bursting/waterfiends), make the switch point at: 2M+ an hour. So I don't think dagannoths are a viable option apart from the very rich people! Btw: the problem with "pack yaks" is that the hides take some TIME to collect (often the time you take to collect stuff yourself is longer than the time to get the money to buy an item at the ge).. Yak hide aren't tradable (or at least not showing up on the ge database).. My calculations are based at an 400yak hides/hour. If you have yak hides at your bank already of course use them! Ow btw: Barker toads are best to high alch -NOT- exchange for shards! Really you get more shards back from high alching + buying new shards than from just exchanging for shards... (you get 7 shards which equals 175 gp, while high alching gives 419 - 239 = 180 gp!). 5 extra gp + some magic experience!

Pyrefiends can "easily" be safe spotted.. (if you know the moving pattern): you can shoot over the rocks at the east (the middle part). As for meleeing: well this depends on your pray level: you could also go in and protect melee a lot of monsters!

Don't have the waterfiend cave unlocked (+ I wonder if somebody of his lvl summoning will be efficient there).. Scarabs I (strangely) haven't been appointed yet. Nechs, might be "good": but from the data I recieved from a friend they aren't too good: rate: 0.123 Wyverns are a bit too hard to kill for golds either (killed well over 200), though their crimson drop rate is amazing: rate: 0.153 rate (crimson): 1.222 (yeah that's on average more than 1 crimson/kill) Also missed the mutated bloodveld, they have a nice rate (0.5) but I wouldn't go there anyways. (after 300 kills I haven't gotten a single blue charm and the green/crimson rate is around 0.07) Also, as a general advice: I strongly urge you to wield a ring of wealth. I personally tested it and it DOES increase your charm-drop-rate quite a bit: around 10% increase in charms I get from tasks with this nice ring! @necro I also did a few moss-giant tasks: they're actually pretty good, my rate is at: 0.328 And they're cannonable at the pirate's grove island (or whatever that island is called on the way to lunar isle). Might indeed be a very good option! Didn't test it out personally though, but since they have almost double the drop rate as daggs a kill "can" take twice as long: meaning you'll have less "piles" to worry about. - Since that's the biggest problem with lighthouse daggs: if I go cannoning them I never manage to get all charms, simply because there are too many bone-piles to look at. Also that post is nowhere near "complete" (or even at some point you can call it "usefull"). It's mostly low level monsters..

Uhm it calculates the summon xp, and goes for maximizing it: this isn't one of your "inputs": it's one of the "outputs"..
-
Uhm how would anyone know? And besides: I think most people have an attitude towards such a thing like "who cares".
-
I think you may need to re-read the thread or learn more about Summoning. Well what do you want? Defeat the purpose of summoning at helping you training? - If you want to summon a monster but don't want it to fight you could resort to clicking the "call" button continuasly.. Besides: I rc a lot too (very close to 89 rc atm). And my terrorbird/graahk hasn't yield me more than 10k xp yet! Mostly it starts approaching the enemy, but by the time it get's near it it teleports again to me..
-
this, This or this Might be your "answer".. Just use a familair that DOESN'T train the melee stats..
-
Safespotting is the key: I'm wondering myself often why I ever wasted the time to train defense since I "safe spot" 75% of the tasks nowadays... (otherwise I'll probably be praying). Only a few will become extremely hard to do. (not sure which, I can't think of a monster which can't be safespotted).

While slaying from lv 50 till my lv (78/79 can't remember) I wrote down all charms I gained from every task.. I can say that from slaying most monsters drop many gold charms.. My personal favourites: -Fire giants at wilderness (ok call me crazy but I love fighting them there: they're very close to each other). rate: 0.496 (that means about 1 charm every other kill) -Dagannoths (at light house), not the best charm droppers but because of the speed/cannonability it still very, very fast gold charms. Rate: 0.294 -Brine rats: easy, lots of other goodies rate: 0.252 -Dust devils, not particularly good, but many other (crimson) too.. Also they're very easy to fight with a slayer helmet. rate: 0.127 -Infernal mages, ok I didn't get that task myself, and my data on these is very, very limited but the drop rate is "amazing": rate: 0.390 Well those are generally "the best": though others might be good too.. Slayer yields me on average most greens, followed by golds btw!

Sigh at people always believing only the ones who are 99 in something... Well I do have a great sheet about summoning: which calculates exactly what's best for you considering a few things, prices of the items, money you can make if you're "money making", money you gain/loose while collecting charms, and finally the average speed you get the charms.. For golds it's 90% of the time barker toads: arctic bears are only a viable option if you make a lot more than 1M an hour. (or if collecting charms is very slow).. Greens: Unicorns are best: below that level it's a trade off between fruit bats/hydra's. This depends a lot on the speed you get greens/money you collect an hour - at 60 greens/hour the "switch" is at 350K/hour: fruit bats are worse than hydra's if you make MORE than 350k an hour. If you collect greens more slowly the "switch point" is going to lower. (though not by much). Crimsons: This again depends on your general profit: but at 400k/hour and 60 crimsons/hour it's: iron titans>wolpertinger>swamp titan>granite lobster. Though if you're getting charms a lot faster, or make less money an hour you shouldn't make iron titans (and if you make even less than 100k/hour you should stick to granite lobster completely!). Yaks are never a good options actually! Blues: again a small tradeoff: though this time geyser titans are clearly "best" (unless you make less than 250k/hour), below that stick to moss titans, rune minos are just too expensive (switch spot = 30charms&5m/hour).. If you want I'll give you a personal advice (just give me the money you generally make an hour while "trying to earn money", and the money you gain/lose while "slaying" and (if possible) a rough guess about how many of each charm you collect on an hourly basis).. Or I could upload the sheet (though it won't come with a tutorial: I once posted it and nobody cared to look for it/only comments I got was that it was too hard).
