That's what I collected after a few weeks.. But the specials were a bit strange: according to tipit you get 1 "special" every 150 coal: 13051/150=87 specials from coal and 1 special every 50 tuna: 21041/50 = 420 So this should've granted me 507 specials. Yet I only see: 160+86+42+14+135+11+7+15+1+4 = 475 specials: this means 32 specials are "gone"! - Vanished! I think the tuna is about right (well "54 makes the result correct: but I don't think jagex would put that as real number"). So the mistake should be in the coal part? Coal should be 1 special in 240 coal to make the result "correct".

But they're untradable? Still doesn't fix pking for me: I used to pk for MONEY: so I can supply my other fun things like boss hunting at low levels etc...

OK, since everyone says you're the best summoner here :P , another question: does it matter which pouches i buy? Example: gold or crimson pouches? or green? Not really, but some good ones are Geyser and Swamp titans... just do some random guesses, but don't buy pouches that require one gold to make (Rune minotaurs, ect) or are made from gold. Test out some random pouches. Wow and that comes from the person deemed to be best summoner? Really do your calculations correct, there are only a few pouches which are lower than 25 gp/shard. Gold are not 1 of them. Gold pouches should always be high alched (since you get a static amount +15 gp/shard). If you want I'll compile a list of all summons and what you should do with it. Anyways: don't forget that you need a higher summoning lvl than the monster itself to exchange it for shards. Anyway a list of all monsters with the ge price from 2 weeks ago (sorted by gp/shard you would get if you exchange them): [hide]karamthulhu overlord 21.65 swamp titan 22.05714286 pack yak 22.12244898 adamant minotaur 22.13 smoke devil 22.2244898 spirit cobra 22.24691358 iron titan 22.25362319 mithril minotaur 22.26415094 obsidian golem 22.29411765 granite lobster 22.35344828 fruit bat 22.41758242 pyrelord 22.48051948 steel minotaur 22.5 stranger plant 22.60674157 spirit cockatrice 22.67213115 lava titan 22.69281046 hydra 22.73033708 spirit jelly 22.76190476 ibis 22.77631579 vampire bat 22.83928571 Bloated leech 22.86419753 Giant ent 22.90697674 magpie 23.09836066 ravenous locust 23.10909091 bunyip 23.19480519 geyser titan 23.34193548 Honey badger 23.34482759 iron minotaur 23.4137931 macaw 23.42592593 sprit tz-kih 23.77272727 beaver 23.96 unicorn stallion 24.66326531 [/hide] The rest doesn't make any profit..

so... Anyone can think of a solution? I "ranted" about this at the same day skillcapes were introduced already: yet back then I was literary flamed for saying and "destroying" a goal.. "I shouldn't talk because I was so low leveled". Sorry but for me levels have never been a goal. The main reason we're seeing this "big" problem at this moment is that the supplies seem to dty up: the only way to be a healthy economy (in which high level stuff earns more than low level stuff) is if there is an always oversupply of lower leveled stuff.. And the only way to do that is IF there is an always increasing number of new players. The main problem is that in every skill you need at least half the xp after you get the most profitable item! And on top of that: the higher leveled items aren't really that MUCH used. A perfect example is smithing: Let's say you can smith 10 full rune sets/hour, and a typical person only needs like 5 sets in his runescape life: that would mean that for every person 1 new person needs to come after every 1/(2 * (1/30)) (I assume you spent 1/30th of your time smithing - if you're making a balanced character this should be about right) = 15 hours! Not much? - Well those new person also "need" a market when they get high.. Making that the runescape userbase should grow exponentionally: and double every 15 hours! Just to keep a healthy economy where in the end skills are profitable. The only thing that MIGHT make skills profitable again is by doing a few things: First of all skilling should get a danger vs reward again. An easy fix would be for example to make all gathering skills' items spawn around 1.2 times as fast in a PvP world as in a normal world! For the bank skills (skills which require you to spent most time banking/not in the field) it isn't that easy: there the only way to make the skill more profitable is by increasing the uses! - The PvP worlds might "fix" the smithing problem: maybe there it will become that armor is removed from the game as fast as it is added. But this won't fix the biggest problem at all: people skill for the sake of levels! (and the 99 cape). This can be fixed not that difficult: Make a cape that's not too difficult to get, yet it's stats are BETTER than the skillcape in every way. - But this would make the firecape pointless too.

Actually, the way the game engine works now it's not "impossible": the only thing that would be impossible, not impossible it just requires a bit of a programming challenge, is to do (certain) cross-interaction with "ground": fighting is a good example.. But also the ability to rightclick on another human player is an example. Well it's very easily possible to make it working, however it uses another way to either transfer, or calculate user input. (the first method is prone to hacking, the second method requires a bit more serverload).

But you can heal 360hp with those 18 extra sharks. while you constantly hit them they hit you but you have a more constant supply of food while theirs is dwindling down. So you might win because you have more food or you could have 18 more brews. 18 brews is 1224 hp so you would def win that fight if the other person was using shrimps. Which they wont be but you'll still win HA HA, oh dear. Some guy tried pking too :P . Brews are good yes, but if you only have brews for healing you are in much trouble. In the time you heal 15 hp you will have to drink a restore potion too, giving me enough time to lay another 15 on you, causing you to drink the brew and the restore potion again. Unless you have a mayor defence level and armour, you will get whacked hard. I would love to fight you in the pvp worlds, not because of my stats, but because of your tactics :P Ofcourse the storage familairs aren't quite as good in pvp as normally.. However with other summons you can get some quite funny combinations: steel titans really pack some heavy damage.. And what about the ravenous locust? Destroying enemies food seems like pretty awesome! (guaranteed "18" damage), especially in longer fights where you can use more specials summons become handy: so in cases you wield the new divine shield! a bob might be usefull (pray restore).. Btw I can eat a potato + drink 1 brew (and if really neeeded, eat a pineapple) in 1 hit so: (15+24)+(15+24)+(24+prayer).. In 3 hits: that seems quite usefull! - However that would require your bob to fill with 2 brew, 1 sup restores and 12 potatoes (topped with extra stuff like anti, and super str/att). Healing a total of 8*15+12*24=408 hp +88 pray (which stands for another 176 hp if you stretch the fight long enough). This almost doubles the amount of health a normal player wields: so you can get hit twice as much! However as said earlier: there are better uses for summons: titans can pack some heavy damage as well as give some nice boosts. Even kyatts can give a good first strike: and hence giving you a well advantage. (often it is the person who first has to eat looses). And I think a combo like: ravenous locust + divine shield + dds is very usefull as a skiller to keep pkers away.

So you don't like GWD... well if they've just said there's going to be a big update every month then soon there probably will be a big update that you like. They aren't just going to clone and relocate GWD every month you know. Ow, I love the gwd: I spent most of my time here. But I wouldn't be sad if the bwd was removed, nor was I happy that the bwd started! - I fail to see what made it unique above other bosses: I like to do unique things.... And quests are unique (if only for the stories), so that's why I like questing especially lately. (well maybe you could change that "especially" by "only": I only log in nowadays if a new update happens that opens a new quest).

You can't create a black market that effects the prices on the G.E, so no offense to Milton Friedman and Winston Churchill, but they'd be utter noobs at Runescape economics. No it won't. You can still buy or sell as many of them off the record as you want, you just won't be affecting the prices on the G.E I just checked, and was able to buy 11 steel platebodies at once, so either the "10 armor per 4 hours" thing is a load of garbage or it only applies to the higher weapons/armor. So to answer your question: No, they won't find themselves at a loss. Please, wake up and realize that this is only affecting the stuff NOBODY needs to be buying multiples of in a day, let alone 4 hours. Stop throwing yourself in a Captain Hero to save the defenseless Runescapers from a threat that doesn't exist. I am in the USA, and for your information, I'm still an undecided voter Uhm if the pvp worlds are being release I know a few friends will go pvping: WITH barrow armor. Don't tell me that a 2 kills take (on average 50% of the time you fight someone you die) more than an hour? So how are pvpers supposed to "keep up" their armor pile?

Am I the only 1 who dislikes their new "update" system? Really: for GWD I couldn't care less (if I want the thrill of beating boss monsters I could just goto the kq).. Or new skills don't matter for me at all (more pointless clicking).. It's actually those "small" updates that keep me playing: quests! - Previously 2 quests a month was perfectly normal (1 quest every other week).. However with this I don't hink quests count as headline update so less time will be put into quests..

Loving the flaming cause Im in differential equations. Took BC calculus 3 years ago and got a 5 on the AP.. lol. By the way I believe it's "math" not " ". way to be on topic, but youve proved you fail at maths. Can you just shut up? - He's almost right! Attack is a bit difficult to translate towards xp/hour - simply because (at least I) don't know how the attack level scales with defense and the chance to hit.. However strength pray is much more easy: if you hit it WILL give 10% hit increase, meaning 10% extra xp. IF YOU HIT. Now let's asume you hit 50% of the time, the xp gain with a 10% strength prayer would then be:0.5*0.1 = 0.05 = 5%. Similar if you hit 100% of the time the xp gain is 10% (and if you don't hit, you of course don't get an xp increase). So it's actually the weaker the monster the better the strength prayer is. However we forgot to include 1 important thing: max hp/hit. Near the end of killing a monster you can't hit your max anymore: so this needs to be taken into it too! I might give some probability analyse about this too: but it's a bit more difficult and from what I see here you simply don't want to understand it. (So I'm not going to waste my time..)

I suppose research is necessary then. And good move to Jagex! We'll be able to raid more food now for clan wars and it will be even closer to what it used to be. : did you read my reply?

Zemouregal and the Staff of Armadly + Mahjaratt Speculation
pulli23 replied to benar's topic in General Discussion
Or some big birthday party from 1 of the mahjaratt? Why does it always have to be this "easy" to what happens: the majharatt aren't really known for their loyality: each have their own agenda they want to fullfill! - It doesn't seem very likely they would summon somebody to lead them! (just like zemouregal doesn't want to work together with lucien..) -
Wow why doing it much more difficult than needed: putting just the trade limit in the Y (depend) and the QP in the X (independ) fields yields a pretty basic curve: seems completely linear. Origin gives also some nice function: [30-9-2008 17:48 "/Graph1" (2454739)] Data: Data1_B Model: user3 Weighting: y No weighting Chi^2/DoF R^2 ---------------------------------------- 999.18413 1 ---------------------------------------- Parameter Value Error ---------------------------------------- P1 211.66603 0.13403 P2 2855.35917 21.39592 ---------------------------------------- And when putting the x error of "1" (I believe they rounded the values in the kdb), and y error of "5" the above curve fits great through all points!

But the most fun to solve (if you don't use a guide that is).. I really like solving puzzles: so mep3 is greatly welcome (as long as it's focus is on puzzles like mep2).

Yeah, don't know what's going on here either - in some way the forums parsed the whole urls wrongly.. trying to update it now! EDIT: fixed Ow and no there are no item rewards for this quest: but isn't questing/watching cutscenes a reward in itself?

Well one of the old story lines was opened once again: Varrock is under extreme danger: danger not seen since the 4th age! requirements: Items needed: [*:39fuomb7]armour/food to survive many (and kill 6) lv 85 zombies [*:39fuomb7]Pickaxe, [*:39fuomb7]coordinate clue stuff (watch, sextant, chart, spade) [*:39fuomb7]lightsource [hide=reward][/hide] Small recommendation Read http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarticle.ws?guid=legend_of_arrav_1 to understand what's going on here! guide To start of speak to Captain Rovin in the north west tower (3rd floor) of the varrock palace! He will tell you about a disturbing report from one of his scouts: zombies seem to be organized! - You're send out for a little field trip and discovering who leads them! First head of to the graveyard of shadows, there the first mission is to follow the trail the zombies left behind! The trail basically works like with hunter: you investigate bushes/stones/trees to see next parts of the trail. The big difference is that this trail doesn't really goes straight: it splits up a lot, walks in circles and has some dead ends: Below I made pictures about all important investigate points (as well as a rough sketch of the "real" path) - : Between the 2nd and 4th point I missed a few points: after that every point is in it :P. [hide=tracking] First (note it's the southern path) 2nd, after the first times the path splits 3rd, red lines are the real path (others are from dead ends/wrong paths) 5th, FIND A KEY! (You'll find a key here and that means you're on the right track) [/hide] After that just behind the altar you'll notice a new cave, enter this: [hide=stronghold]-First head to the south, there you'll be able to watch over a small railing. ****CUTSCENE**** Now that you know how the security system works grab 3 bottles and kill 3 skelletons, use a bottle on the mist to capture it. After capturing enter the door ****CUTSCENE**** You're bottles have damped out: kill 3 more zombies and collect the mist and enter the next door. Follow the path till a point where you can watch another cutscene. ****CUTSCENE****[/hide] Now head back to varrock and inform the captian. You'll have to visit your old friend numorf the dwarf again. Before going I recommend you to get a pickaxe with you. numorf tells you that he doesn't know anything about it: but you should ask the holy furnace. And numorf gives you a coordinate clue (and hints that you need blurite: get it :P). TREASURE TRAIL TIME! [hide=digtrail][/hide] Use your pickaxe on the hole and enter it ****CUTSCENE**** Now talk to the dwarf there: Ask him if you can use the furnace, and he tells you need a good reason (luckily saving a city from a majharrat is a good cause for him). Use the blurite ore on the furnace and talk to the dwarf again ****CUTSCENE**** (Wow this remembers me about Frodo looking into the water mirror at galadriel in LotR) Time to find the descendants! Report back to the captian (in varrock awaits you a not-too-pleasant surprise too). Make your way to the library and talk to redo: he'll tell you that a list is somewhere on the ground. Grab the list and look who's the descendant from all people mentioned. [hide=descendants]damar leptoc = draul leptoc (lord), juliet leptoc marv halen = haig halen (curator) laris = romeo gontamue (minor noble) khom = enhtor prysin (knight) dathero raispher = aeonisig raispher (advisor) ramone ravits = horvik ravits (apprentice blacksmith) tarrlo remanis = roald remanis (king)[/hide] Now that you have a select few people left test everyone. Most (all in fact) won't feel any difference when wielding the shield. However 1 person (which seems to be randomly) will tell you about that he's adopted, however the last 1 in the line was a woman who married a certain fitzharmon. Back to the library: [hide=final]dimitheis fitzharmon (former noble)[/hide] It's your old friend from the family crest! Now that you finally have the correct name head towards him (he lives the "fence" south east part of varrock). And ask him if he could help you.. ****AMAZING CUTSCENE**** (I want that powers too) And that ends the current quest. Varrock is safe for another age! (or at least, safe apart from the random adventurer rampaging and killing all guards). A small hint: you can head also to the 1st floor from the museum where you can update the story again, and get another 5 kudos giving you a grand total of 163 possible kudos! (and an extra 1k xp lamp). Hope anyone else has some fun with this quest: I like it! (Lot's of cutscenes/storys in it). EDIT: greasemonkey script was acting up again, seems to be fixed now!

Haven't gotten around to "unlocking" barbarian skills yet :P

My current block list is only terrorbirds: I really hate them, even with all those guides I can't effectively kill them AND make profit.. I'm thinking about the other monsters, but not sure what to block (notice I don't care about xp at all: only profits and charms): goraks: seem to me as the least profitable task - but never ever got those (yet). Suqahs: well these are actually really nice to kill, but the task is always sooo small (duradell seems to give me tasks like kill 20-50 of them) and if you're on normal magic (high alchemy) it takes really long to get there. On top of that they're dreadfully boring to fight. Kalphites: I don't cannon them (want to make profit all the time), and the guardians -while profitable and good ranged xp- make the task too long and boring. Haven't gotten a scarabite task yet though.. Also I'm wondering: I personally care especially about making profit (well making enough profit to fund training summoning with the charms I get from slayer), would opening up the mithril dragon/waterfiend place be a "clever"?

You went from a comparision of regen brace and combat brace to regen brace and barrows gloves... Just thought I'd point that out before theres any confusion. :P This is definately becoming highly bought soon. These gloves are the best for any pure 1-36 defence (36 defense is the lowest you can get rune gloves). And trust me, there are thousands of pures that have the money for the bracelet. Not only that, but as someone mentioned, they are the best buyable gloves now. More people that have not done/completed RFD will buy these gloves. And not to mention, with the small HP restore boost, these could be very popular. However, I wish they had increased the HP rate to be an equivalent of a void spinner. That would have made it a very oftenly used item in things like God Wars and Dagannoth Kings, because using that combined with a bunyip/unicorn would make it very hard to beat, probably eliminating needs for guthans at DK's. But I guess it wasn't necessary. The bracelets will definitely be used a lot in normal training by thousands of people, from pures to mains that haven't done RFD. I don't see them as a good replacement for barrows gloves, though, so they aren't the best, but they're good enough to make a pretty big difference. But I must say: GF to whoever used the bracelets as junk :P Really how many people don't have rfd nowadays? - It's really easy to get it, requires a month 2 hours a day (around 50-60 hours) if you have the stats for all quests already to do all quests! So I'm wondering how they compare to barrow gloves: they might be better occasionally than barrow gloves. (at points where bunyips just don't heal enough, yet you still want to camp). However I still think 1M (the price they have now) is too high, barrow gloves being 100k - and combat bracelets being only 30k. A price like 500k would be the max really!

Defender Of Varrock - 29th September 2008
pulli23 replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
Don't think he'll play a role in that quest though: the last sentence of the quest was something like: "It will be a long, long time till they have an army and we hear about them again!" -
Defender Of Varrock - 29th September 2008
pulli23 replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
Seems like a fun quest, though the requirements are a bit disappointing.. (lv 85 enemies?) -
much "expensive" junk material: pouches used to be decent, when buying natures at 250 gp ea, these are the "values": for the top 10 pouches to be alched for least loss. (buying the pouches at ge price, ge price is around 1 week old - counted all pouches).
-
Well what would you think of a global mod who's soo schizofrene he needs to have 5 different off/online things? As for the topic: 55 slayer isn't that "easy": it would take around a month I guess at your level. However it's well worth the time!

What next for G.E? Prevent manipulation?
pulli23 replied to upthebanner's topic in General Discussion
Tell me: why is this bad? Don't say "because the innocent user gets screwed": this is simply untrue: any user should READ before they play a game: know what you're doing and don't just start diong stuff without any good research! And anyone who knows what's going on can use it for their benefits! (just an easy note: the "realistic" price -the price you would have without manipulation/speculation- is around the average price for such items. Manipulators don't affect the market in long term, so the price WILL come down someday. And since runescape is complete tertiaire/quartaire economy, nobody actually NEEDS to get something to survive/get a good living, there is no point in getting something very soon: you could just wait till the price starts dropping below it's average price again! So there it's said: now what's the problem with manipulators? -
Yes: but the tb only only lasts for 30 seconds.. Well they're just a joke: be prepared en engage them within melee range: if you're that close they won't use their ranged attack.. (well they use a different 1: a ranged attack that only freezes but doesn't hit). Their magic attack hardly ever hits through black dragonhide, and they don't use their melee attack very often... I personally always do my slayer tasks in wilderness: without any food and just relying on guthans I can survive greater demon/firegiant tasks very easily there.. If a revenant shows up I quickly look if it's an orc or lower if it is I'll heal myself on the current demon and engage the revenant.. If it's a knight or dragon I just hop worlds...
