Jagex preparing for a new quest?
I actually haven't noticed that. Might just be the update to Falador, but I'll have to go check it out.

History's Greatest Hero
There 'are' and there 'were' aren't quite the same thing. Besides, you don't actually need to glass a planet to make it uninhabitable. First of all, there's the nuclear fallout. It travels quite far, and in the kind of doses caused by a few good sized nuclear strikes, it'll be lethal. Second, there's the nuclear winter. Throw enough dust into the atmhosphere, block out the sun and we'll be freezing our rears off while the plantlife dies because they need sunlight for photosynthesis. It goes downhill from there. We're all quite lucky someone with some ounce of intelligence was on duty that time. I know what happens when serious explosions occur; basically a large number of A-bombs equals a series of volcano eruptions. And one thing can be the trigger of many others. But Barihawk, destroying the world is something men can't do, at least not yet. We may be able to wipe out all human life, yes, but if a meteorite the size of the one that destroyed 95% of all life 65million years ago can't seriously scratch the Earth, no man-made bombs can. And this meteorite equals several millions of A-bombs (and yes, H-bombs are about 5 times more powerful...), so I don't believe we're yet able to make the Earth explode, not by far. Ain't it beautiful how ALL off-topic board discussions always go down such uplifting roads?

"Random" tele event
That's pretty weird. Even if it was just a lucky streak... still cool. :)

autoers
What we did in RSC was lead massive "Auto-hunts". What happened was we basically collected a huge parade of people and took them through common autoing sites. That way, with multiple people reporting the same autoers, we knew Jagex would have enough to ban them. In RS2 and better detection, it should be even easier... If Jagex can just track down the main, or ban some IP's, then we might be good...

I'd quote all that I'm going to respond to, but my post would probably be about five pages long. So... First off... Actually, I think we do. You think that morals set forth should be intirely scriptural, as you have stated. I believe that they can be altered by people. On this, I think we are clear. And I accept what you are saying. So, we're good. :) However, there are still a few things I want to say. Insane's quote (since i can't get it to work) Really? So that's why the Israelites were so keen on STAYING IN EGYPT AS SLAVES, eh? I'm sure Moses would agree with you. ; ) And as bearofthunder said; The whole argument Insane was making was based on the fact that Yesterday's Principle's CAN be applied to today's definitions, which is really the cornerstone of this debate. I guess my overarching point of view is that there are some things in the Bible that just CAN'T be applied to today's standards. Let's face it, the world is different than it was around 2000+ years ago. There are things in the Bible I find hard to believe anyone would follow. For example... It sets forth guidlines for slavery. This has been discussed, and is decidely a bad thing. It is also stated that "the slave is the owner's property", and also states that they can indeed be struck. Exodus 22.25 states that you can't extract interest from poor people. Looks like we've got some bankers to stone. One that I have particular issue with... "You shall not revil god(not a problem), or curse a leader of your people (freedom of speech, dude)." Another BIG one... "The firstborn of your sons you shall give to me... seven days it shall remain with its mother; on the eighth day you shall give it to me." There are also several farming regulations, that you don't harvest every seven years. Apply those to today and you might have a problem. I accept that picking and choosing does inteed cause trouble as many have slightly... off sets of morals, but at some point... I have heard arugments, in fact by some in this discussion, that these were set forth for only the Israelites. But that would be picking and choosing, and these are all from the same place as the ten commandments. Although I AM open to new points about these things. This, however, is my current and longstanding set of opinions.

Ok, I spent the whole post explaining WHY I said there are some things to follow and others not to follow. For example, the Bible says that slavery is ok, good even. I disagree with that because I believe it to be morally wrong. If you call that relativist, fine with me. I call it going by my own moral compass, and what I believe many would agree with. Ok... but what does that have to do with the debate? It's still in the bible, and I still disagree with it. As mentioned, I don't really care what you call me. Those lines were in response to the "Who are you to tell me what right and wrong is." My point was that I wasn't telling you anything in that post, so basically I was agreeing with your statement that others can't tell others what to believe. And what the bloody hell does relativism have to do with anything??? I have a set of morals that I apply to life AND to the teachings of the bible. I don't necessarily believe in a completely literal translation of the Bible, which is very simple. As for picking and choosing, I do it based on what I believe to be right. Have you never done ANYTHING on the Sabbath? I could be wrong, but most people have. I don't think that we should still kill the people who do things on it. That type of thing is the only thing I disagree with in the bible. If you disagree with that, fine. But my beliefs have solid grounding in what I see is right. I fail to see how any of that goes against the teachings of Christ.

Races
I think it's a good idea, but I don't think it will happen. Just they way races are set up now, it wouldn't be possible. The game would have to change way too much, and it wouldn't be the same. I think that humans will be the only ones walking freely around Runescape for quite some time. Although I do think that a massive RS3 update (namely giving it competitive graphics and combat system) is going to be made by 2008-2010. If it lasts that long.

Runescape Monopoly
I don't think the game has a market large enough to sell Runescape. WoW might try, but probably not Runescape. Although as soon as Jagex thinks they can make any kind of profit from it at all, they'll probably try.

Lumbridge Jobcentre
I don't know, I'd say the game is already quite easy and open to new players. It's not a bad idea, but if they keep the already there lumbridge guide updated and make him give out good advice on money/training, it should be ok.

Pragmatism is a method of analyzing things. A way of thinking. A way of philosophizing. There is nothing about pragmatism that forces someone to "know" something for sure. It is merely a method of conjuring up speculation. Pragmatism = "A method in philosophy where value is determined by practical results." Justifying "bad things" using pragmatism works. Justifying "bad things" using the Bible doesn't work. Why? Because things like slavery can be justified in the bible (Ephesians 6:5) but not in pragmatism. You give pragmatism too much credit. And you misquote what pragmatism is. Pragmatism isn't a means to find a "value" based on practicality - early pragmatists such as James and Pierce say that pragmatism is a means to find truth based on practicality. This makes truth relative - what one person sees as practical another may not, making truth different for two people. This isn't very pragmatic, making pragmatism unpragmatic, which is a self-refutation. A problem with your pragmatism vs. Bible argument is that you fail to recognize that God may have given us those laws BECAUSE God knows that alcohol clouds our judgment, for example. He probably knows more about the effects alcohol can give you, seeing as, He's God. However, I hope you don't object to ALL practicality applied to the Bible. Because there are SOME things that I see as wrong set forth in the Bible, one of them being slavery. Did G-d want us to have slaves? Who knows. Maybe. Do I think it's morally right? No. So it's really grey area at times, depending on your interpretation of the Bible. That's what this all comes down to, really.

You know, I should probably just let this post die, but let me ask you one question. You say that you believe in the over-arching principles found in all Scriptures...However, how do you which principles are true? Which ones are good? What is the true determinant for good and evil, right and wrong, morality? Who are you to say that one act is wrong and another isn't? Relativism, according to its own definition, cannot stand up to its own teachings. By stating there are no absolutes is to believe in at least one absolute statement...violating its own existence. And to believe what you do is to be a relativist. Let me close with two quotes: ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅIn the world it is called tolerance but in hell it is called despair. The sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, enjoys nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, but remains alive because there is nothing which it would die for.̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

History's Greatest Hero
Wow, cool story. That guy saved a lot of people by keeping a level head. Even if he was wrong... it probably would have been a good thing anyway. I mean, think about it. He responds to a massive nuclear attack, all it does is mean more people die. Not altogether very helpful on a world scale. Then again, such was the madness of the Cold War. :? Ah well. Good to know that in this day and age, people have moved past that stupid, senseless kind of violence. ^(extreme sarcasm)

RuneScape firsts (and other classic moments)
Yea, but I've also been tracking Zezima's progress. I think he knows the competition surging from the rear, and he's been uping his experience. Who knows, for once maybe there'll actually be a tough competition for the #1 spot. :)

Picture of "wave" spell
Wow, those pics officially own the pathetic blobs of colour they called spells we had in RSC. Thanks for the posts.

What's with little kids these days.
I guess I'm a mix of the two extremes. I do my school work and I do go online (since I'm posting on an ONLINE FORUM :P ), but I also spend the rest of my time out with friends, playing football, riding bikes and the lot. I'd like to think that's the ideal, but I could be wrong. But the kids who never do anything active... that's a bad thing. :?

So... please don't try to pretend that all religions are the same, when they are clearly not. I stand by my statement that every religion is exclusive. The Koran states that those who resist Islam should be killed. Where you got your information is beyond me. I don't think Buddhism can really be called a religion because they do not profess a belief in God. But, they do believe that their way is the best way to enlightenment. In that way, they are exclusive, saying their way is the best way. Now, to answer the real point of our arguing, what's wrong with being intolerant? Only the intolerant say others are intolerant. Stop being so intolerant of my so-called intolerant beliefs! I would concede the point of most religions being hypothetically exclusive. According to many holy books, those who don't follow said holy books should be beheaded/stoned/burn in hell (encouraging, eh?) However... It's my personal belief that not EVERYTHING in any given holy book is to be taken completely literally (back from eating and ready to go into detail here : P). For example, I don't personally believe that anyone who isn't Christan is going to be cursed for all time. I believe in more the overarching message of the events and writings, and personally belief in their occurances. However, I don't necessarily believe everything in the book. Because even if it was the word of god, it was man who penned the book. And it was men who wanted their religion to spread and be number one who penned the book. And men who lived in their own time and with their own culture. So although it may state such things, in practice it is hardly exclusive. And that wasn't really against anything you said, it was just more of a rambling by me. I agree with your points about the lines in the book. P.S. As for Buddism... a reference to an almighty being is not a prequisite for being a religion. Plus, their trying to become one with a spiritual power type thingy, which is pretty close.

Well, this debate has certainly gotten more interesting since I posted on it... from a recent scientific theory to whether or not Socrates existed  The debate seems to be about Jesus and his existance... It was my opinion that it was accepted by many scholars that a man named Jesus of Nazarith existed, and that he did indeed preach to people. On this matter, I'll go out across the internet and look for exact proof (because on the Offtopic forums, I know I've got a 3/4 chance of being blasted for any given post :P). The question of whether or not he did miracles is a matter of belief/faith/whatever. I don't really feel like going into my personal beliefs at the moment, as I am hungry and the pub is calling. So while you people debate, just do it with respect for each other. And another thing... whether or not you believe in the accomplishments of Jesus does not change his message. The idea of love for one another, peace, and achievement of happiness is one echoed by many religions and philosophies around the world. In fact, many decent people would probably agree with his ideas. Ok, off to get some food. Chao. (tee hee... chao/chow : P)

your reason for remaining f2p?
1. What made you remain f2p? I"m keeping f2p only until I raise my stats a good bit. That, and I don't really feel like paying money. 2. Have you ever wanted to be member? No, not really. 3. Do you plan to be a member in the future? Eventually maybe, but it won't be for a few years.

Tip.It Times Presents: The Not-So-New God in Town
That is a good point... This could just be solely for entertainment, or the "Great God" could be a man behind a curtain. But still... Tip.it tends to be the first to know about these kind of things. : P

~~Newer Bank Of Runescape~~ **Updated again 05/15/09**
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE... Nice. 8) This is probably the greatest idea to ever be posted on a suggestion forum. Have you posted it around other forums? If not, that would be a good idea. This is really the great kind of idea that a Jmod programmer would think up. To the Tip.it staff; If you have any Jagex connections... : P

Random events: harder for older accounts to get them???
The first month on this character, I went through training tons of stats without a single random event. But now I seem to get some every 15 minutes or so... still no mimes or mazes though. I don't know... I think it's random, but I'm not sure.

Ranged Idea!
I don't know... I personally think it might take away from the feel of RS, as mentioned. Yea, it doesn't have a time frame. But it is, generally speaking, a medieval-fantasy game. Guns and pistols would just change it. I mean, in our world guns obseleted (for the most part) bow and arrows, and a little later swords.

I think this is a great idea. Go mohawk!
