  1. I'll be honest - when I saw the poll I laughed. I pretty much knew that the vast majority of RS players (and, I believe, people in general) use the XP. I was right. :P XP ftw \
  2. That sounds like a great idea. I used to think of the idea a lot myself, but everyone who seemed interesting in starting one gave up later. You see to actually have the dedication to really make this happen, so if you need any help or writers I'm a pm away. It could have a variety of sections - general Runescapian news, economic reports, editorials (different from the Tip.it Times, of course). I can't wait to see it. :D
  3. I'll be honest... for a split second after I finished the article I was incredibly excited about the updates. Then I remembered the date. Very nice article nonetheless. Got me...
  4. Fighting boots all the way. Those colourful ones look awful in my opinion, but clearly some people like them. Anything with metal [bleep]es on it I'll take. \
  5. GF lurers. 8-) I'm glad to see Jagex make a GOOD rule change now. Lurers are a pain in the rear and really are no different from those already considered scammers. I wholeheartedly agree with Andrew's post. And now those bloody no honour clans will have to find better uses for their time...
  6. Good job making the thread. It seems like whatever political discussion is going on, it all traces back to religion somehow. We might as well have a separate thread for it. I myself am agnostic. I don't think there is a god, but I'm open to the idea that there's SOME kind of undiscovered power out there we haven't found yet. And I'd have to agree with the point that religion tends to cause most of our problems today. The religions themselves don't preach horrible things (although I do think some of it is idiotic), but followers of religions have a tendency to get... overzealous. Maybe humanity would just find something else to fight about; who knows. I still think we'd be better off without it.
  7. There was that one a long time ago - icant remember what its called but the guy is on bowling for columbine (i dont mean school shootings btw) I'm guessing you're talking about the Columbine High School Massacre... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbine_High_School_massacre But let's not forget the other famous terrorist attack on U.S. soil. In 1995, as some of you may or may not remember depending on your age, there was the Oklahoma City Bombings. At first, everyone suspected radical Islamic terrorist groups. Later though it became clear that it was an act of domestic terrorism... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing
  8. Alright, but my point remains the same. Your argument, and feel free to correct me, is that homosexuality is wrong because it doesn't "work" biologically. Like I said, to me, that isn't "wrong".
  9. And this makes it "morally wrong" to be homosexual? I always defined morally wrong as doing something that negatively affected someone... I don't see how being gay or lesbian fits that category. The only real argument I've seen, if you can call it that, is that the bible says so. But hey, I'm an agnostic, so I don't really think that works. And yes, 4737_Carlin, you may now tell me that I'm going to hell. I'm more than willing to have that debate, but preferably not on this thread.
  10. The Democrats have obvious motivation for pursuing this... politics as usual, sadly. However, that doesn't mean they don't have a point. The emails that have been found make it look like they WERE politically motivated. Most of them had gotten excellent job reviews, and there was seemingly no reason for them to be fired. I wasn't aware that Congress even needed the president's permission to interview people under oath. I was under the impression that Congress had the power to conduct this sort of thing by themselves. Silly me... I thought we still had checks and balances. :wall:
  11. 3 here 8-) I only got points on the combat level, playing time and parties. Sledding ftw.
  12. And where did that get us? No where you don't hear a thing about Bin laden anymore.. Its like he doesn't exsist anymore.. He's prob hangin at the Bush ranch in Texas.... We only went into Iraq to finish what Bush sr couldn't.. I personally dislike our Government.. Yes i am American and if i had the chance i'd headbutt our "great" president.. You don't hear anyhting about Bin laden or Afghanistan because for the most part it was a war that most of the americans agreed with, however iraq was not, so the liberal media only shows the negative things going on in Iraq so people can dislike bush more... To drgnslyer_15; I'm assuming you're adding on to my post and not disagreeing with it, since you took the words right out of my mouth. =D> To dangeresque; Actually, we hear quite a lot about Afghanistan because the Taliban have been stepping up their resistance over the past few months. We hear about Iraq much more because several thousand more people have and still are dying there than in Afghanistan. And the media will follow the most active place - that being Iraq.
  13. My political opinions line up pretty much exactly opposite of yours. But considering past debates I've seen you in, that doesn't surprise me. I can agree with you about Hillary though. :P I like Obama, but I think he lacks the experience to get the nomination. In the end I think it'll be McCain and Hillary, although I hear Romney is doing better in the polls.
  14. I'm no fan of Bush, and I'm no fan of the Iraq war. But... 1. We attacked Afghanistan because it was harboring Osama bin Laden. You know, the man who planned and orchestrated the 9/11 attacks killing 3000 innocent Americans? We were going after the leader of a dangerous terrorist organization who had attacked us. Also, "cause 9/11"? Our policies in the Middle East weren't flawless, and I'll agree that we have a history of not doing things the right way there. But I'd say that Osama bin Laden goes more under the category of "homicidal nutcase" than someone who was at all caused or justified. 2. Nuclear deterrents. As mentioned, we're not getting rid of ours until everyone else does. This will probably never happen until a new technology obsoletes them, so don't hold your breath. As for using nukes in the Korean War... General MacArthur got overzealous and wanted to nuke mainland China. However, Truman fired him precisely for this reason. Because the more stable American government would never allow something like that to happen unless absolutely necessary.
  15. Excellent article. I think that most people wonder if they're addicted or obsessed with Runescape at some point. I know I do - heck, you can't play the game for 6 years on and off without wondering if you're addicted. But this made me realize that just because I play often and have friends in Runescape doesn't make me addicted. I have free time and I use a good bit of it to play Runescape. But I'll log out in a second when a friends calls and wants to hang out. This article wisely says that it's not the hours you play - it's what you give up to play.
  16. If Jagex really wants to compete in the MMORPG business (which is still expanding rapidly), they'll have to come out with a game completely different from RS2. In my opinion they'll need far better graphics to survive as the years go by. Personally, I hope they make an RS3 and I hope that the Runescape series lives for a long time. But like people have said, Jagex seems to want to branch out.
  17. Many people seem to find Runescape very addicting. As with everything online, balance is the key. I only play it when I have free time. And it's winter in Massachusetts, so everything is frozen solid. Except for the occaisonal hockey game I can't play a whole lot of sports right now. :XD: If people find it's cutting into their social lives, they should try to not play so much. And if they find that they can't handle balance, they should probably quit altogether. So no, I wouldn't call the game "too addicting". There are addicts to pretty much everything - but most people who play can do so without becoming RS zombies.
  18. And you just hit the nail on the head when it comes to why this forum isn't exactly taking off. @Author: If you're out to try to solve the clan world's many issues, I don't think this is the place to do it...
  19. Yea, when I First saw the prices that's what I assumed. But then I saw a few people shouting, "Selling full rune w/o kite 155k!!!" I'm not sure how permanent this drop is, but there seems to be at least a temporary dip in rune prices.
  20. I'm glad your sure, but that doesn't change the fact that there are about 7 people selling rune in Varrock, and not one of them is over 180k. I've been there for a week and it's been relatively consistent. But I am new to the economy, so I'm not sure if this kind of thing is usual or not. EDIT:And if it is unusual, feel free to tell me and I'll buy a few rune sets now while they're low. :XD:
  21. Normally I'd agree that usually stable items like armour will go up with inflation. But over the past few weeks the price of full rune has been falling dramatically. A few months ago it was 200-210k, but now the average price seems to be 170-180k. I've seen far more people selling full rune in Varrock than buying it. For whatever reason it seems the supply is now much, much higher than the demand. Anyone know why the price of full rune has been dropping?
  22. I can really agree with this. A telling fact about Runescape and its level system: The XP needed for level 80 is 19.5 times the XP needed for level 50. The XP needed for level 99 is 6.5 times the XP needed for level 80. So really, at level 50 - you're about 1/128 of the way there. :?
  23. Same question here. I'd ask the same thing, but then I'd be repetitive. Oh well, too late...
  24. I use low detail because it runs much faster than high detail on my computer. I honestly don't care if I see more detail in the game - I just care about being able to play without getting logged off.
  25. I think after wandering around Lumbridge for a bit I went out and killed a goblin. And then I wandered further, was confused at how the RS pking system worked and got killed on the way to Varrock. : P I started in Feb. 2001 - no Tutorial Island and PKing everywhere. It was a hard life out there for a noob. :)
