  1. I support, although I think Bard is right.
  2. Admirable stand. But would any amount of training prepare you to fight and win against someone with member capabilities when you have only free ones? Agreed. Any equipment differences? If not, then Bauke is right; however, that doesn't change the fact that a member still has the recharging advantage (which, as I have pointed out, can be critical). My main, actually ^_^ The name is OmniIcyshelf. I'm going to change the title, because it seems as though some are reading only the title and first post without reading the rest.
  3. A splendid, funny editorial, with plenty of positive vibes. I didn't get that from the last two. Thanks for writing this; this is truly a stellar read.
  4. This would be nice if it were 100% possible to tell the difference between goldfarmers/macroers and real skilling players. I just wish people would STOP making skilling accounts when they don't even need them.
  5. YES, THEY PAID. I GET IT. If you get benefits for being or having been a member, I'M OK WITH THAT AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE OVER THE REST OF US IN THE WILDERNESS! I'm fine with you having agility outside of the wild. But in it? JaGeX may as well give you guys the ability to Snare or Entangle. Hell, let's give you guys Ancients: You did the quest, and that was pretty hard, right? You got the levels, did the prerequisites, and trained your magic level, and you paid. Fair, right? Is it really that hard to see the fallacy in "you paid and trained so you earned the right to use it in the free world"? Must I repeat it for the next four posts until you pick it up? To my knowledge, it increases run restore rate. Only one person on this thread mentioned that agility may also decrease run loss rate. Can anyone else confirm this?
  6. Very well, so I was wrong about that. Does that have anything to do with the main premise of the argument? Not really. NEARLY all of my detractors are or have been members. I don't see why you would disagree with my main point, however, considering that other member features are not allowed in free worlds. Let me ask you this: If ONLY former members or visiting members were allowed to use Snare in free worlds, would you think that unfair although they trained to the required magic level and paid, as per your previous point? Or is Agility an exception, despite the fact that both abilities essentially amount to the same thing in the wilderness?
  7. That would fall under Newbie if anything. And in this case, it doesn't fall under Newbie because the question is about opinion. I was kidding X_X
  8. I've already stated my reason several times. IT GIVES MEMBERS AND FORMER MEMBERS AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE IN THE WILDERNESS! Please understand that running allows energy to recharge faster, facilitating member and ex-member escapes and making it virtually impossible to f2pers to escape from those same people without calling up some extra ingenuity. I've also been told that high agility levels lower run drain rate. If that's true, that makes it about twice as bad. When I say my detractors are all p2p, I mean that they either currently are or once were. The point is that they once paid for membership and now resent the people who ask for JaGeX to level the playing field. Thanks for taking the time to read Andrew Gower's opinion on advertising. Like I said, agility pretty much hasn't accounted for much of a difference in my wilderness experience (except when I beat a member/ex-member and they run) because I am very good at escaping, but I know that it CAN and DOES make a big difference in multiple other situations. If that's what you meant by "loosing" because I don't pay for membership, then you're wrong. If you meant I "loose" the argument, then you're also wrong, because clearly the best point you can come up with is that I'm a "whining little Fruitcake [sic]" for pointing out a problem that would disadvantage you if it was solved. Who was calling me a hypocrite and a "whining little fruitcake"...? I wish you had put that first so I'd know to skip your entire post.
  9. One who asks what a noob is.
  10. RuneScape Instant Messenger "Hay you guyz got RIM?" ...Sorry. Anyway, supported.
  11. p00ned : vivi owned you  Stop posting please.
  12. And why is that? May I remind you that you're coming to an f2p world, where all other member skills are null and void (I wonder if there's a REASON for that. Hmm)?
  13. Which basically boils down to - Shut up and get members - We "earned" it because we paid and trained the skill - You don't support the game - The topic author is dumb and should shoot himself - Stop whining - It recharges run faster, not makes you run faster or makes you run for a longer period of time So: - No. - You paid, but you stopped paying: You say you supported, and so do we f2pers. You paid extra, so you get extra? No problem, but that doesn't mean you should get an arm over us, especially if it wasn't even your own money that you paid for membership. JaGeX themselves have said that they don't want people to get ahead just because they have money (of course membership is the big exception, but that should NOT apply when returning to f2p) - See above - Get out of my thread - Stop "whining" if "whining" bothers you so much - Monster camping, run down to zero equals faster recharge, etc. etc. etc. I've read pretty much every counterpoint that's been made here and none of the people who made them are willing to admit that agility lends unfair advantages to those who have it, nor can they come up with anything new to say.
  14. It can be VERY dangerous for someone of my occupation to leave private chat on.
  15. Alright, I can respect former members having benefits for having paid, but really, can you say it is fair for those benefits to be advantages in competitive situations? Agility is perfectly fine for skills and related things, but in combat you have to admit that this simply doesn't work. I think many of you get the impression that I'm scared of PKers while mining rune. The picture is simply meant to be funny and depict the occasional hassles of runite mining. I really don't mind PKers so much now: They have turned out to be a great source of profit and amusement for me. Yes, I'll run if I'm outmatched or outnumbered: I'm not dumb, and I'm sure you'd do the same. Agility has rarely ever been the reason a member has been able to catch me. The complaint arises when they try to get away or if f2p clans are facing off against p2p clans.
  16. Yeah, give us the capes with a special trim to show that the skill was trained in f2p >:D Skillcapes aren't necessary for f2p. They are extras. That said, I think it would be nice for f2p to have them.
  17. Generally lightning spells are considered to be of the air-type.
  18. Thank you for your valuable comma-spliced opinion. The next I want to make sure that I'm not an ignorant idiot with no life, I'll get online, go to a RuneScape forum, and flame anonymous posters of valid opinions that I already thought were worthless to begin with by throwing such scathing insults as "whiner" or "moron" at them. It's kind of discouraging when this kind of infantile insult-volleying constitutes eighty-five percent of my thread. Please, make a valid point with some maturity or don't post at all. You'll only embarrass yourself. Andrew Gower, Gamasutra Interview - May 3, 2007
  19. My main, omniicyshelf, is a rune miner. I'm also a very good escape artist: I don't need agility to escape my foes, and it usually doesn't matter if my foes have agility. The situation in my signature has happened many times. Generally I'm being pursued by a fairly large number of people. It's great fun to get away from them XD Yes, you get a "small" bonus, but it's still stomping on the rest of us and you can't deny that. It is, in JaGeX's words, an "unfair advantage." Most (actually, all) of the people who don't support my case are members and they don't want their benefits taken away that they expect even though they're no longer paying- Damn the free players, am I right? My point is precisely that it recharges faster. Someone who camps on aggressive monsters is able to restore run energy while evading attack. When this is combined with agility, it easily allows said person to run farther than and easily outdistance an f2p attacker. The reverse proves true for f2p runners.
  20. I am proud to raise my pickaxe.
  21. You want benefits for having paid? Fine, but don't make them gross advantages over free players in interactive situations. This is one such, and I find it hard to believe that most of you don't see it that way. Well maybe Jagex or Andrew feel that atleast ex-members sould have a reward for giving money for runescapes further development, etc. Which advertising obviously DOESN'T contribute to  That's beside the point: This is an unfair advantage over free players. Is that so hard to see? JaGeX doesn't allow ex-members to use their weapons, armor, spells, etc. in f2p. I think they should go a step further here. Find other ways to reward ex-members that doesn't screw us over once in a while.
  22. I think the ditch was a fine update (especially since it prevents people from being pked on the way to monks from edgeville and from being pked at the black knights ledge), but it needs to be improved graphically. Yes, people can be dumb, but if someone is lured for their first time with a pantload of money on them it will indeed be a hard lesson to swallow. Let's keep them from having to learn that lesson in the first place. What do y'all think?
  23. You want benefits for having paid? Fine, but don't make them gross advantages over free players in interactive situations. This is one such, and I find it hard to believe that most of you don't see it that way.
  24. Support, huh? Reporting offenses doesn't count as support? Slaying goldfarmers isn't helpful either? Advertising revenue counts for nothing? Don't tell us f2pers we don't support the game. If JaGeX asks me to help them, I will. I am no leech.
  25. Well excuse me, but I am QUITE bored attempting to train level 78 range in f2p. I am QUITE frustrated and annoyed with members stomping all over me because they paid and I didn't. Yet, am I a member? No. Do I want to be a member anytime soon? No, I don't.
