I feel pretty lame replying after Jettrider because my post will be much shorter and his post reflects a lot of preoccupation to a number of high level slayers. Camping is by all means a matter of choice, you can either train combat through slayer all the way, or camp at several monsters (waterfiends for charms, green dragons for money, armored zombies for xp and abby demons... for balanced training). Of course, filling the upper level of slayer tower makes the slayer angry (fairy rings code ALR seems better IMO...), but everyone has the right to fight what they want. I respect the fact that you are doing what the hell you want, but in my perspective, a camper is a lazy player that just sits his hero in a place and just kills stuff. I met a ton of campers who would stay there for hours (without banking herbs and gems, without getting more potions when they would run out....talk about lack of efficiency). Yeah it is generalizing for all based on a couple cases, but that's how it looks from my perspective. Adding a couple more monsters to the most crowded ones who solve a lot of friction between players though... kalphites and abby demons are the first to come to mind.

With a ranking system and an XP-driven community, spending millions to level skills is not that surprising. The fact that the supplier is getting a nice chunk of profit is also unsurprising ( just look at smithing, the smelters profits while the smithers spend). Like you mentionned; there are ways to profit from herblore, but these are few and not very easy to achieve compared to buying and mixing. Herblore has always been hard to level prior to the G.E., now it's easier but you have to choose between wealth and experience.

slayer rings are very useful, but they cost a lot. Let's say you plan on using 100 rings during your RS "career"... cost of gold bar ~ 200 gp x 100 = 20 000 gp cost of gem = 1 gp x 100 = 100 gp The marginal cost would be 20 100 gp for 800 teleports... so 26 gps per teleport...not so bad eh? Now let's add the opportunity cost of those slayer darts runes you chose to sacrifice for that ability. 300 slayer pts (ability) / 35 slayer pts (runes) = 8,5 stacks of runes 8.5 stacks X 250 = 2125 deaths and 8500 minds value of runes = 637 500 gp for deaths at 300 ea 85 000 gp for minds at 10 ea total cost of 800 teleports = 742 600 gp meaning a cost of 928 gps per teleports Before buying that ability, ask yourself if you plan of using those rings a lot, if these teleports are worth the cost...etc

My second 99 - Farming

good job and nice balanced stats. I'm closing in on all skills 70+, but only because I gave myself a huge kick in the butt to finally start hunter the proper way this week (got most of my lvls from 31 - 65 hunter through tears of guthix). -
yeah the only reason someone should wear initiate is not having the proper quest done.

BoB+stats(131 cmb)(updated bob)

nice mage and abby heads, The rest is pretty average, but I guess you don't like skilling... Camping is a choice though, I see a lot of people dissing camping that will suggest training ranged at aviansies, or combat at armored zombies... -
Last I checked, Proselyte gave a better prayer and defence bonus than initiate which in turn gave a similar prayer bonus but better defence than monks robes... Someone correct me...or praise me. I am pretty sure monk robes have better prayer bonus than initiate (at least the bottoms do). ~Dan I just checked tip.it's prayer guide... monk's and initiate have the same prayer bonus, be it bottom or top. Proselyte has only the top with a better prayer bonus, the "cuisse" or legs has a similar +5 prayer bonus that initiate legs and monks bottom share.

By that logic, ahrim's armour is overrated because zuriel's is better. Or adamant armour is overrated because rune armour has better bonuses. The cost per hour of Zuriel makes it worse than Ahrim for trainning purpose. Rune armour is better than adamant in the long run because the initial investment will be compensated by better combat rates (less need of food, less banking time which meqns more fighting time, which meqns more drops). The same logic can be applied to the Torso. Taking the time to get a torso over the time to gather cash for Bandos or even getting proselyte body will result in the long run as a worse investment. Torso is also only better when fighting low attack monsters. Anything with high attack will result in eating more (cost), guthaning more (cost and loss of whip time), praying (no prayer bonus from the torso...) It's all a matter of calculating the time, costs and the illusive and uncalculable "player preference".

what if it drops skilling items? Being water based, it could drop magical harpoons, nets or lobster caged that enhance the catching rates... I know that slayers kill monster in the hope of getting better gear to kill faster... but this could be a way to interact between skills.

All these updates will make the gamepay smoother. I especially like the leprechaun one as I'm an avid farmer. I'm so sad that this update is not to your liking Me_hates_libs, when was the last time your enjoyed something from RS? Your situation is a pathetic case of a player not wanting to let go and not having the guts to quit properly without trying to get attention in the process. It's been like this for months from you dissing every updates and poisoning these boards.

XP-wise no-lifing it, slayer takes longer. If you had personnal taste into the mix, I'd say that for me, RC is definitely harder as it is repetitive, without challenge or changes (unlike monster drops).

You don't lose wealth by going through the DIY way... You just gain less than other methods. Also this is a guide to herblore, to train the skill. I suggest you make a guide about getting cheap potions through money making if you want your point of view seen by the masses.

Let's say I'm playing in Amsterdam, can i discuss the use of drugs as I can smoke iweed in legality here? Can I get a ban or mute because my country has different laws than the majority? Would i get a ban for saying : let's all get on a plane to Amsterdam and smoke weed there! Nothing illegal in getting on a plane and nothing illegal in smoking weed in Amsterdam... Though I have a feeling I would get a mute and a lot of reports if I were to write that in a crowded place. Good job Ren on the chart btw.

The thing with a harder location comparison is that you can't predict the area the tree will appear like a star would (i.e. wilderness). Clan chat evading could be a good thing, but it means hopping a whole lot while managing several CCs.... not an easy task. trying to hunt during low hours is actually a very good idea...if you can log during those hours (some kids can't do that).
-
If you could hold onto your reward until you get 100% like star hunting would be a pretty good solution, with stoping xp once you get 100% reward. To be honest, I'm amazed at the number of people swarming these trees considering you can only interact with a maximum of 2 trees per day. The 30 minutes banking magic is pretty awesome also, I can understand why wcers would want to make full use of this feature.

I think he's referring to combat. But your right, alching is the main use and why they are bought\sold so much more often. Well he asked about their uses, why do they exists, and he said they were useless. It's pretty clear the guy only sees the combat side of the argument but his rant should have been more detailed.

longbows.... better alch value. There you have it. case closed.

10 Grueling Months...

took me 5 years to get to 85 mining... grats and keep on trucking! -
Like cookie said, keep you blues for later and once you reach 52, make t-bird wit gold, 56 ibis with green. Slayer is not the fastest way to gather charms, but it sure is a very balanced way to raise combat, summoning, total levels and get a decent amount of money while doing so. I would suggest training it for your objective.

Has anyone ever made a comparison between dark bow and mage short with the same ammo? Just wanna get xp per hour comparison. A good test basis I would like to see is the comparison with mith ammos Dark bow Rune cross bow mage short mith knives Add in the cost of lost ammos and we would get a good comparison. This would only relates to ranged training and in no way could be used for pking purpose though.

I posted that on Sentry_Wolf's herblore guide. If anyone is interested, this is pretty good money while alching or fletching arrows, bolts and darts. Weapon poison ++ requires the following: Coconut milk (use a coconut with a hammer, then a vial with the open coconut) cave nightshade (acquired through farming - maximum of 2 per day or through picking the skavid spawn in a cave near the ogre enclave - will explain the best way to gather these later on) poison berry (bush farming or buy these) Weapon poison ++ sells for around 5k these days and the buyable ingredients can be obtained for roughly 1,3k-1,5k making the cave nightshade an intrinsic value of around 3,5k per spawn. Gathering cave nightshade : 1- log into a crowded world (1500+) 2- start at castle wars with a ring of dueling equiped 3- inventory ---> light source (seer's headband works) skavid map obtain in the watchtower quest , if lost, ask a lvl 83 ogre guard inside the ogre city, you may have to use a death rune on him. Also carry stacking training items (alchs, ammo fletching...) 4- beast of burden can't carry nightshade, have a foraging familiar to boost your profit (fruit bat, magpie...) 5- running from CW to ogre city, enter the first cave you see. If there is someone already there, respectfully hop to another crowded world. If not, pick the spawn and alch of fletch while waiting for the next one (30 seconds spawn on a crowded world... around one minute on a normal sub 1000 world) 6- when full, tele to CW, deposit BoB and nightshades and repeat You can get around 90 nightshades per hour that way which is around 300k profit per hour. Always check the G.E. for prices before doing this activity to judge if it's worth your time. Weapon poison ++ will sell in less than an hour these days. Ohhh one last thing, questers will sometimes appear (they always wear the antifire shield), be courteous and let them get one spawn.
-
I didn't notice they had gone up by that much... but I usually turn them into weapon poison ++ for major profit. If you have the herblore level to make them, make sure you take the time to gather nightshade from ogre city skavid cave.
-
Yeah, definitely give it a shot, only you can judge if it's worth it or not. Just be prepared to be faced with a trade limit and the the new pvp (wilderness removal and introduction of pvp world). The Grand Exchange can either be a time saver or a pain in the neck, depending on how you view it. Leveling a new character straight into members is really a very good idea. Have fun!
