Having to rely on nearby monsters to heal is kinda meh especially when slaying. I have to say that SGS is my specing weapon when slaying except when fighting dragons.

Not true. Jagex massively favors magic, and range has the upper hand too. They obviously hate melee; even this topic's creator agrees. Maybe PVP-wise, but PVE and normal training, melee has the upper hand in terms of cost and xp earned. So I wouldn't say Jagex favors one class over another.

What most of don't seem to realize is that the article scientific scaper wasn't about the most efficient to level WC and fletch through yew or maple... It was about the attitude underlying players who calculate their gameplay. It was about showing what some player do to achieve their goals and how mathematics and science can be used to train faster and more efficiently. Sure the example was skewed and not thorough enough but guess what? It was stated in the article! The point of it was not to show this specific point, but rather was motivates the player and what variables and functions have to be considered in the equation. I have to agree with stormveritas that a lot of people in this community grab the first opportunity to bash on anything anyone say. The times is written to provoke discussions and reactions from the viewers, not to gather criticism of their writing skills. Goinc kinda back on-topic, I have to say I have a coupe spreadsheets in similar fashion to mercifull with skills like fishing and woodcutting. When you reach a certain high level, it's a good thing to know what is faster, more profitable or the best balanced way of training. I used to fish sharks for a long time because it's the more profitable way to fish, once I realised that monkfish were only 10% less money while between nearly 3 times the xp, let me tell you I dropped that harpoon for good and stuck at piscatoris.

Comp and lord, you guys are arguying over definitions. GOP might not be the most efficient way to train RC but it offers a different gameplay and those who like the game will greatly benefit later when using the tabs. In the same way someone who likes stealing creation will benefit later from whatever reward he chooses. I also dread training RC, but everytime I get around to it, I end up doing all my pure ess from slayer training and wanting to do more. It might be faster leveling than slayer...but for overall xp... it sucks big time!

Glad to know you are still lurking around these boards Meta11ica. I seem to remember your name form when I first registered on tip.it's nearly 5 years ago. I also remember Uncut_Angel from these boards who got intense ranged levels under 3 months and everyone was pretty impressed with his progress.

Anyone questionning a succesful corporation has probably no professional experience and obviously no idea how the workplace really works. If they were not working or had the laziness disease, there would be no updates, no Jagex mods participating on the forums, no one reviewing those numerous ban appeal (if you rant on the way they deal with it, with supposedly macro-answers, think how many stupid appeals there must be for them to have to act this way), no one monitoring revenues and expenses and in the end, the place would close down. If you are suggesting that by releasing less updates than they used to, they are working less (or not at all if I read correctly your incendiary title), well then we enter the realm of supposition and your guess is as good as mine.

were do you think you'll be in the next 2-3 year's?

2200 total if no skills are released... 2300 total if at least one skill is released. With at least 14 skill maxed out at 99. All current skills at 75 hopefully (hunter via tears as I hate that skill with a passion), -
You shot yourself in the foot by bringing a conspiracy theory involving financial failure leading to what you consider bad updates... Having an opposite viewpoint with Compfreak will not always result in a flame war, but you need to have your facts straight because you can assume he will and he's not shy of being right...and bragging about it! And following on the comments that the costumer is always right, if you can't satisfy him (or won't depeding on your company's policies), make sure you have your global strategy clear for everyone and follow it. When they decided that battling RWT was going to be their strategy, I was glad. I was sick of fighting for blue dragon spots against bot and gold farmers, sure it was fun putting the drags to mid-hp and letting them finish the job for me and taking about 15 minutes before realizing I was getting all the drops, but it was in no way relaxing and this is why I play this game. I was getting bored with the game because of macros and RWT. Every update that goes into battling this re-inforces my opinion that Jagex have a clear business strategy that they are following and they finally have real leadership at the top. Rest assured that I will probably stop playing this game if bots reappear.

I have to say that I completly agree with this. When faced failure, people like him will resort to flaming and extreme generalization to "win" their arguments.

Skill-wise, Zezima, Lilyuffie, The old Nite, Uloveme, Yogoson, N0valyfe were there for a long time for the last 5 years. Lately, add Getjarrs and Kingduffy to that fame list. Community-wise, I Mahatma I for his vids, Durial for his rampage and lately Zarfot for his guides are up there. Add in 3_Hit_You for his self-proclamation of famous pker (can't judge that really as I never pk'ed much, but the name certainly had a following that can't be denied). Famous RSers on these boards included Empror1 (first 200mil xp FMer if I'm correct), TheHate (has been in the top 50 constantly for the last 5 years), S1acker (one of the first to achieve 85 slayer and posted a bank after one month of abyssal camping when whips were ranging from 10 mil to 50 mil - made quite a commotion).

New Fight Cave? Perhaps a Multiplayer Fight Cave?
langer replied to Dire_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
That would be a pretty good idea and I hope this gets implemented one day, wether it's a follow-up to the fight caves or a mega boss requiring killing lots of lower monsters to attain. -
Every population has its morons, that's simple statistics and if you compare the real-world population to the population of an internet game aimed for, let's say teens (whatever Jagex say about being aimed for young adults and lots of contents aimed at relatively young kids, the majority of people playing it probably haven't graduated from high school), you'll find a majority of players will less life experience and judgement than someone like you Compfreak. The ignorance and self-importance of youth translate into stupid behaviors and half-thought statements. Writing on an internet forums also provides anonymity so looking stupid here is not so bad and won't crush your carreer or reputation at school. I feel alright being in the top 10% percentile QI-wise and accept that less intelligent people will have less intelligent reactions.

People will advise to gather charms through slayer as you are basically training combat, slayer and summoning all in one activity. Therefore maximazing your time in-game focusing on various skills instead of powerleveling one skill after another. Slayer is not the fastest way to level both combat and summoning, but it is the most balanced way (and thus faster way) to achieve 99 in all these skills. See smobo's post for another relatively similar explanation. If your only concern is to raise summoning as fast as possible... don't do slayer and focus on crimson-dropping monsters (waterfiends, rock lobsters, cockroaches... and various slayer related monsters).

Read somewhere that using supercompost will results in 7 in 8 tries to be successful. The suggestion to use my arm's patch for high value herb is a very sound one and it's what I've been doing ever since it was introduced. There's no way to garantee 100% health on herbs besides staying close to the patch and checking it yourself.

3rd March 2009 - Deposit-all feature and more + Patch Notes
langer replied to Singh's topic in General Discussion
It's a matter of point of view mostly. I like the game as it is now and I don't need groundbreaking updates to keep me interested in the game. Any improvement from this point on is a good update in my perspective. What you also have to realise is that you can't get all you want at every update and will most likely don't care for about 20% of all updates. -
3rd March 2009 - Deposit-all feature and more + Patch Notes
langer replied to Singh's topic in General Discussion
Any update that makes the gameplay better is good. The deposit-all will improve our xp rates and more red chins spawn will mean less competition and better hunting rates. I know people have great expectations for any update, but in my opinion, any update that upgrades the way we play is a good update. Great job mysterious old men at Jagex. -
Farming Revolution? Will people actually use allotments now?
langer replied to Rahila's topic in General Discussion
Agreed with all those that say everyone will benefit from this update even those who already are 99 in the skill. I'm also sick of people moaning about changes in the game. The game evolves and unless you have 200 mil xp in a skill, no changes can screw your xp rates. It does not cheapen the skill, it makes it more user-friendly and slightly easier...which is good for everyone. What I see changing is the use of a fruit bat or magpie or even ent during farming tours instead of beasts of burden. Added cash or experience and a better gameplay. -
I'm fairly sure you get experience with emotes because when you do the same emote twice it says: you already received experience for doing that emote... I'll verify this when I do my circus tonight though. Anyway you should get around 6k agility, 12k ranged and 22k magic. If you get less, it's probably because your skills are low (BTW i'm only 68 agility, but max ranged and fairly high mage).
-
don't forget to do your 10 emotes per skill too. What some people told me in regard to the same question I asked is to do every level (from 10 to 99) without doing the same twice even if you miss and doing the 10 emotes will give you maximum exp.

For me it would be the inferno adze. Training firemaking while woodcutting and studying would be pretty sweet as I hate clicking fires. The quest cape would be a close second. As for future items... dragon defender , just imagine that attack boost and added str bonus...

I have to say that I agree with all of this, except I can't proclaim with 100% confidence that a majority of mods have this attitude, hence why I don't support the claim (not saying it's impossible or improbable). At first, I thought you were kinda ranting on the modship process, but I realise that you are mostly ranting on the motivation of getting modship status for the sake of having the status and proving it with a crown. I have to agree that from that point of view, all mods or mods wannabe are reporting for the wrong reasons. This can be applied to real life with politicians - getting into politics for the fame, publicity and big job as chairman when you retire from politics at 50 instead of being a politician for public service. It's really about personality, I have 99 slayer and it's considered one of the 5 most desired cape in-game..I bought it one month after getting 99 slayer and it sleeps in my bank because i'd much rather train combat with fire cape than a show-off cape. I also didn't bother with the ranging cape as it just uses space in my bank. If I were to be a mod, I'm pretty sure I'd be the exception in your point of view of modship. My part in this debate is over, glad this was civilised and well written by the majority of posters.

If you start over, you will have to do 5 tasks in a row to get more points while you only have to continue your streak to keep on gaining more points at every 10 tasks and multiples of 50 gaining you extra points. I'm well on my way to 150th consecultive duradel task, getting me a whole bunch of death runes in the meantime!

Farming Revolution? Will people actually use allotments now?
langer replied to Rahila's topic in General Discussion
most likely works for all fruit trees as well since the lprechaun noted my curry leaves... It will be a great update for all the powerfarmers... Faster allotment farming will make it more used especially for those who have the means to powertrain. I can see the cheap farmers doing tomatoes, cabages and sweetcorn a lot more with this update. Making uncooked sweetcorn more available for payments on the market. There is no cons about this particular update. Very nice work Jagex.
