  1. I agree with TheDay on those, being that Jagex handled the RWT pretty poorly (adding new updates to compensate for flaws - d stones, lumby chest, bh revamping...) and that skill capes add a perverse effect on the game. The thing is though, players were the one asking for a status item showing 99 in a skill. I don't think Jagex is too blame for this, but the average player is. I must also add that I don't really care about skill capes as I own a fire cape which is still better than these.
  2. Isn't PJing way old? I seem to have experienced that a lot a mage bank since RS2 was released... It's not about age or anything, it's about the person in front of the computer. There was more scamming a couple years back and I don't care if it was a 12 years-old, a high school graduate or a lawyer playing on his free time, a scammer is a scammer no matter what. Blaming the younger generation is short-sighted but that doesn't mean that saying teens are more immature than adults wrong... It's plainly obvious that when you compare both population sample, that statement will remain true. Statistical analysis will show that in a population, you'll have dumb people, bright people and "average" people. In the adult one, you'll get the average person to be more mature than the average teen because of life experience and education. This is how life goes, you'll have lots of teens more mature than adults, but you will find more adults to be more mature than teens. Translating this to the game, the people ranting assume that the general population of RS is now younger and therefore less mature. It's an assumption that I don't approove because of lack of proof, but it's a possibility.
  3. Well they are already profitable... The beaver will break even mostly, but it's real use is the wc boost. Magpie only exists to produce gems and rings and you can expect around 8-10k profit per 35 minutes pouch. Fruit bats are the perfect farming producing familiar, generating from 10k to 20k per 45 minutes pouch. I think those are mostly balanced and the only cons are the action-stoping teleports or item producing. If the item gathering would work like granite lobster or ibis when fishing, it would be fixed.

At gargoyles, if you have a SGS for specs, a healing familiar is pretty much overkill and a beast of burden is a good alternative as the drops tend to add up (mith and steel bars). The t-bird for example will give you added space and minimal faster kills, which is much better than a bunyip. Lower levels will probably need the hp regen more than added space though.
  5. agreed, no need to stop doing what you are doing when your familiar produces something. Hopefully something Jagex will look into when (if) they ever plan on upgrading summoning.
  6. It does not increase your chances of getting to spin that rare wheel, but if on that rare wheel, there are crap drops, and it increase your chance of getting a quality drop on that wheel, then by definition it increases your chance for a "rare good" drop. As we don't know the full mechanics, all we do is pure speculation.
  7. black hides, nose peg/slayer helm fury/glory/salve (e) ammy best gloves you have fire cape/skill cape (t)/ god cape defender whip/dds specs ring of your choice inventory : 1 super set fill the rest with monk have a beast of burden filled with monks also There you go, cheap inventory, that's what I always do (2 trips each task, banking the good stuff).
  8. The ring of wealth probably works. If you have one, wear it. If you have a warrior ring or berserker ring, then you have to ask yourself if faster kills and experience will counter-balance the lesser rate of rare drops "in the long run". If you don't have these, then stick with the ring of wealth. It's mostly a matter of choice as I've never seen any in-depth analysis of the ROW, while the warrior ring and berserker ring can be studied pretty easily with a couple hours of training.
  9. Well I can probably make some for you, but you have to realise that with spawn time on a busy world, you can't get more than 80-90 nightshade per hour. Add in the time to break the coconuts, fill the milk into vials and then you can start making the potion. If your plan is to buy 80k weaon poison ++, one supplier is simply not enough. I suggest you stick with the G.E. They are a great money maker fro herblore, you are bound to get some sellers via the G.E. In fact, stick with the G.E., with exams coming soon, I'll probably spend my RS time fishing and studying.
  10. I have no idea how fast they buy, but being one of those procuding them, I can tell you they sell pretty fast. Sold 200 under 3 minutes yesterday. Would have made more, but ran out of alching materials at cave nightshade spawn...
  11. Sure this game has evolved into user-friendly territory and safety-first concept, but it doesn't mean it's all that bad, the home teleport is something I use almost every slayer task to recharge prayer. I agree that common sense should be learned by experience and some features like the wilderness ditch were un-needed as you had warnings before going into the wild prior to it. I still think it's a great game, RWT ruined it and it caused the trade limits. The grand exchange is pretty good for players like me who hate standing in a crowded world spamming "selling whips 1,4mil" repeatedly. Sorry you feel this way about the game, people change, games change, adapt or quit. To me, this game is light-years away from the crappy classic I started playing.
  12. No I don't mind. I like slayer.

AFK-ability should not be an issue here... It's in the same category of "possibility" of rare drops from high level slayer monsters (player preferences ). I think this thread has shown that slayer is not the most efficient way to train combat. But it comes pretty close enough that a player who wants to get his overall skills up should train slayer. Of course the percentage of player that will hit 2376 total levels is pretty low, but there is a lot of people that will aim for it without ever reaching it. Those will want to raise their slayer level and it is pretty faster to train combat via slayer than maxing combat and doing slayer once you're 138.

Ahhh my bad, I get it. I have to admit it's kinda playing with the variables... but I'll concede it!

49K per hour with melee? Seriously? I thought armored zombie were 100K xp and 170K profit? That would put melee ahead of mage and in comparison to ranged, you would have to value money vs xp.
  16. sorry mate, but that was pretty funny
  17. Having to rely on nearby monsters to heal is kinda meh especially when slaying. I have to say that SGS is my specing weapon when slaying except when fighting dragons.
  18. langer replied to howbadisbad's topic in Rants
Not true. Jagex massively favors magic, and range has the upper hand too. They obviously hate melee; even this topic's creator agrees. Maybe PVP-wise, but PVE and normal training, melee has the upper hand in terms of cost and xp earned. So I wouldn't say Jagex favors one class over another.
  19. What most of don't seem to realize is that the article scientific scaper wasn't about the most efficient to level WC and fletch through yew or maple... It was about the attitude underlying players who calculate their gameplay. It was about showing what some player do to achieve their goals and how mathematics and science can be used to train faster and more efficiently. Sure the example was skewed and not thorough enough but guess what? It was stated in the article! The point of it was not to show this specific point, but rather was motivates the player and what variables and functions have to be considered in the equation. I have to agree with stormveritas that a lot of people in this community grab the first opportunity to bash on anything anyone say. The times is written to provoke discussions and reactions from the viewers, not to gather criticism of their writing skills. Goinc kinda back on-topic, I have to say I have a coupe spreadsheets in similar fashion to mercifull with skills like fishing and woodcutting. When you reach a certain high level, it's a good thing to know what is faster, more profitable or the best balanced way of training. I used to fish sharks for a long time because it's the more profitable way to fish, once I realised that monkfish were only 10% less money while between nearly 3 times the xp, let me tell you I dropped that harpoon for good and stuck at piscatoris.
  20. Comp and lord, you guys are arguying over definitions. GOP might not be the most efficient way to train RC but it offers a different gameplay and those who like the game will greatly benefit later when using the tabs. In the same way someone who likes stealing creation will benefit later from whatever reward he chooses. I also dread training RC, but everytime I get around to it, I end up doing all my pure ess from slayer training and wanting to do more. It might be faster leveling than slayer...but for overall xp... it sucks big time!
  21. Glad to know you are still lurking around these boards Meta11ica. I seem to remember your name form when I first registered on tip.it's nearly 5 years ago. I also remember Uncut_Angel from these boards who got intense ranged levels under 3 months and everyone was pretty impressed with his progress.
  22. Anyone questionning a succesful corporation has probably no professional experience and obviously no idea how the workplace really works. If they were not working or had the laziness disease, there would be no updates, no Jagex mods participating on the forums, no one reviewing those numerous ban appeal (if you rant on the way they deal with it, with supposedly macro-answers, think how many stupid appeals there must be for them to have to act this way), no one monitoring revenues and expenses and in the end, the place would close down. If you are suggesting that by releasing less updates than they used to, they are working less (or not at all if I read correctly your incendiary title), well then we enter the realm of supposition and your guess is as good as mine.
  23. 2200 total if no skills are released... 2300 total if at least one skill is released. With at least 14 skill maxed out at 99. All current skills at 75 hopefully (hunter via tears as I hate that skill with a passion),
  24. You shot yourself in the foot by bringing a conspiracy theory involving financial failure leading to what you consider bad updates... Having an opposite viewpoint with Compfreak will not always result in a flame war, but you need to have your facts straight because you can assume he will and he's not shy of being right...and bragging about it! And following on the comments that the costumer is always right, if you can't satisfy him (or won't depeding on your company's policies), make sure you have your global strategy clear for everyone and follow it. When they decided that battling RWT was going to be their strategy, I was glad. I was sick of fighting for blue dragon spots against bot and gold farmers, sure it was fun putting the drags to mid-hp and letting them finish the job for me and taking about 15 minutes before realizing I was getting all the drops, but it was in no way relaxing and this is why I play this game. I was getting bored with the game because of macros and RWT. Every update that goes into battling this re-inforces my opinion that Jagex have a clear business strategy that they are following and they finally have real leadership at the top. Rest assured that I will probably stop playing this game if bots reappear.
  25. I have to say that I completly agree with this. When faced failure, people like him will resort to flaming and extreme generalization to "win" their arguments.
