In fact, absolutely nothing with that statement. I wouldn't say it's bad money, I'd say it's not as high as it used to be (when I got 75 slayer, addy boots were 30k, 80 slayer, rune boots were 250k and 85 slayer, whips were 3,4k, talk about prices going down !) and also not as good as some very lucrative methods of combat. And again, I'm very biased towards slayer as it is my way of playing in conjonction with farming tour and clueing in between tasks. I really should get back to the posts where you argue with ydrasomething about the "cost" of slayer xp. Slayer might be the slowest skill the level, but it is probably the only skill that gives lots of experience in other skills. Making the skill worth training IMO. BTW 793K xp away from 99 slayer here. Should get it around christmas or new year.
  2. If you like slayer, train it. If you are only looking for a good monster ton camp to, there are better choices out there.

well I guess i'll post back to clear things up. This is kind of getting fun. I mentionned at least 2 times before that post that I was maxed out. I never said your methods suck, ever... I even summed up your rant to a fellow poster saying you were right in saying slayer is bad combat xp and money. All right, then using a cannon is ok because it's fun, not because this argument is killed like you said in the cannon thread by Robert. If it's two seperate arguments, then your rant on my post in his thread was way out there. Just a want to emphasize on the word easier. I really get headaches when doing hunter with all the camera rotations, I know it's weird but eh that's life. I was really talking from an enjoyment poit of view, which I know is not the main point of your rant. I agree with that, but it's from a money maker point of view, not for someone who wants to raise their skills. By that i mean, having a balanced character and so on. I just can't picture someone maxig out all the skills before coming around to slayer, that's just plain...weird.

Wow, this will be my last post on this thread as you clearly are doing some selective reading. I read your original post, read the last 5 pages, please don't ask me to read all the 20 pages, I have wasted too much time already trying to argue with you. I'm maxed out in melee, why would I want to get more XP? Do you read all the words written or do you have some sort of disability? With this logic, all skills except melee and ranged should not be trained as you COULD be making more cash and xp doind armored zombies or aviansies... Well I guess I'm biased because I'm a high level players and find it easier to level slayer from 97 to 98 than hunter from 62 to 63. This is overstretching it a bit, but as I stated on this thread or another... hunter gives me headaches and that's not what I call playing. Just another question... when do you stop training? Where's the point when you can say : okay I have 100 mil xp HP and 1,5 BIl in GP, now I can waste my time on slayer or some other non profitable skill? Ohhh and when I have 1,5 BIL GP, is it justified to waste it on cannon balls now? Have fun trying to find people to "argue" with you as you are clearly not capable of admitting the rightness of the point of view of other people. I'm gonna go waste my life on my next slayer task whatever invalidity my opinions are.
  5. It doesn't take into account crafting deaths... at 65 RC. You could do fire till 65 then craft death for massive profit.

That's not true, I tested sharks vs monks at 90 fishing. You get 120k gp per hour at sharks and 110k gp per hour at monks... XP-wise ... 12k xp per hour at sharks 32k xp per hour at monks... It's terribly unwise to ever fish sharks IMO though. Lobster are better cash and xp than Tunas/swordies... It's mainly a battle between Lobbies and Monks... I don't have the numbers for 62 fishing... but at 90 fishing Monks give more cash and XP than lobbies. just my 2 bucks
  7. Slayer used to be one of the best way to make a combination of combat XP and money. This isn't the case anymore. There are faster way to gain both on select monsters. Aviansies and armored zombies are amongst those monsters. Some players train combat for other purposes than gainind levels. Hence they ignore slayer in their training and get back to it when they feel they don't need to train combat efficiently anymore or just get bored.
  8. gnome stronhold, they are far apart though... you got besides the south bank, one south east of the agi course and the last of is way to the west of the south bank. If you have the farming level, you can plant one besides the bank.
  9. First a skill cannot be a clique... People acting in the same way, promoting a way of training... now that's a clique. You don't have to train any skill you don't like, but you have to be aware that you are missing out on things. I don't train hunter and I plan on leveling it with tears of guthix even when I'll reach 63 hunter next week because I totally hate the skill and it gives me headaches so I can't train it for more than 30 minutes straight.

you can't prove his rant is wrong. The facts are clear that slayer is not the best way to raise combat and gain GPs. What he can't account for with the facts are opinions and preferences of players such as yourself liking the skill , and he seems to ignore that a lot in his numerous statements such as this one : Yes I can train slayer because I like the skill. No stats or facts can take that into account.
  11. If you plan on reaching high level slayer one day, you should not stop slaying...you will probably regret stoping. If your only goal is to go to GWD and have stats to thrive there... quit slaying because as some other people stated, slayer is not the way to gain the best combat XP and it is not the best money maker using combat. It is profitable, but not the best methods.

Well, like I said previously, at the moment, i'm maxed out melee and have enough money to buy some 99s (I have 115 mil cash and a bank worth around 300 mil). So camping some monster to gather more cash than I need is pointless in my case. If you read a couple post back what I wrote, you will wee that I summarized for another poster your rant on slayer and said it was legitimate. I didn't miss your point, just wondering why you rant on people getting their slayer level higher than 55 while you have 83 and camp at spirit mage... get back to zombies, you're not efficient at the moment  Well then it's just a matter of opinions... you either want to raise your overall levels or you just want combat levels and lots of GPs. If you're stating that overall skills total is not important for you and thus should be ignored, you're generalising on your personnal experience and not accounting for the fact a great deal of players want to raise their overall levels.

They are the best herb/herb seed dropper in the game. And by the way, I don't fight outside of slayer anymore. It doesn't provide any fun and that's mainly why I play this game for: fun. Yeah, slayer must suck a whole bunch eh? At some point, even the fastest skill will take hours to level at high levels, so low level slayer is faster to level than 98-99 cooking.
  14. seeeing as your ultimate goal is not slayer-related... just stop it. You might come back to it later, but leveling slayer is not an obligation. You might regret it, but you can never know. Anyway, slaying at higher combat levels is more fun.

Hence why people suggest training combat through slayer. It's a 2 birds one stone kind of deal. I kind of get what's the crux of your rant and also why you are passionate about it. If a player asks you advice for training combat and, bear with me on this one, the majority of players in RS want to get their skills leveled (assumption here), would you suggest to train combat (meaning melee, ranging, magic, prayer and summoning maxing out) in the most efficient way possible then leveling slayer? Or going the most logical but innefficient way combat-wise and suggest to just slay and gain combat through slayer?
  16. bandos chest, tassets and defender. my set-up anyway.
  17. let's say greaters were a nightmare for me before summoning, when i hit 127 combat, no more annoying wild dogs. I'm just saying greaters might not be the best choice, but I agree they are nice for gold charms.
  18. Greaters are either in the wild, either caged or surrounded by wild dogs... correct me if i'm wrong.
  19. bushes : 4 berries - 5 if timer clicks when you are harvesting fruit tree : 6 fruits - 7 if timer clicks when you are harvesting calquat : same as fruit tree cactus : 3 - 4 if timer clicks... you get the idea good luck trying to find someone wasting time testing hops...
  20. Any body armor with respectable defence... also super sets are cheap nowadays and greatly increase your training speed... use them.
  21. better gloves would be useful, I wouldn't suggest torso, but if you're into high hits and lots of food-eating have fun! Dark beasts are indeed good for blues, but slower to kill. And since I always do 2 trips for them, I tend to underestimate their drop rate.
  22. I would like to point out that gargoyles and kalphites drop blue more often than other monsters... Since he can't kill gargoyles, that's pointless for him though. On topic, for your summon lvl... fire giants and bloodvelds are good for charms.
  23. quote] Still, Be aware that he might have gotten lucky. ;) But, if they do sell. I would do it. :P Nah I have sold over 1500 torstol at the price they are at the moment, Last week-end I sold my last 200 under 24 hours. I got lucky 6 months ago when seed were at that price, but torstol herb could sell slowly at min for 4k... talk about xp AND profit!
  24. ok I just checked the price so that I don't look like a fool. You get 7 herb per seed on average... Torstol seeds are easily buyable at min for 7,5k Torstol clean herbs are easily but slowly selling at mid for 1,65k. Meaning I sold my last 200 under 24 hours but not instantly. Add the cost of super compost to the equation and you make around 3k per seed. A little more than what I posted earlier. But a lot less than when I started farming them... I used to make like 20k per seed 6 months ago. Have fun farming!
