  1. Just thought of something, could the "big thing" be something non-runescape related? The highly rumoured mechscape possibly?
  2. Well, they did kinda steal the grand exchange from WoW's auction house, and isn't there something in WoW that lets others assist/change your items?
  3. Get used to it, most of the time when you are forced to read in school its difficult to enjoy - when I read it first time (for GCSE as well) it was horribly dull but when I revisited it in my own time it was brilliant (for extra hilarity watch the genuinely awful film version).
  4. Lies, there are no girls on the interwebs On topic - hey congrats, earrings look great on girls provided they aren't Pat Butcher-esque (British people will know what I mean). On men...meh not so much. The things I can't stand are those circle things that actually make a huge hole in your ear .
  5. Summary - people will moan regardless of whatever Jagex try to do. A good, accurate article that I enjoyed skimming, nice work author.
  6. Considering tip.it has covered another 2 games before, and is planning another... 3 soonish, i'd say one more wouldn't be a problem. which games would these be. do tell Same, I knew it used to, but I had no idea there were more on the cards :-s
  7. quick, register Mech.it!! I wonder whether Tip.it would expand itself to include both games...

Thief, you deserve everything you get. Practise your soap holding skills now.
  9. what sort of laws do you suggest?
  10. I see no problem in the OP  On topic - Cool, its little, strange, quirky things like this that remind me of the true strangeness and randomness the human race is capable of. Now is the time to change the saved number of the deceased to your own and text them - messaging from beyond the grave!

Is this your first year studying law? If so cling on to the memories of the fun of criminal law and even constitutional law. Soon they will be wiped away with things like tort. Is it not correct that after a law degree you will join the Bar. Whats this stage of "laywer" that is in your plan? Anyway, i am studying Politics & Philosophy, so i will either rule you or write about you - or neither. Yes its my first year, first term, and I've heard of the terrors of tort from a friend at Cambridge  . The plan isnt really set in stone or anything, being a barrister is the end goal at the moment though but I don't really know. Politics ruling law? Ha, long live the power of judicial review and the convention of separation of powers (bear in mind I'm just starting, so I may be wrong). Have you studied law as well?

@ Assassin, yeah Oxford and Cambridge graduates get poached as soon as possible pretty much. Constitutional Law is pretty complex as well (especially with all the EU directives and other more intricate parts becoming more important). Having a tutor who actually used to write multi-national litigation helps though . I can't speak for commercial law yet as I'm currently studying Constit. and Criminal but Criminal is great fun - this weeks lectures have been all about murder law though, some pretty grim stuff. Thinking about tutors and things I wouldn't be averse to becoming a lecturer/tutor at university - my tutor (Pavlos Eleftheriadis if you want to look him up) seems pretty happy in his job at least.

Tough job nowadays man, any idea where you want to work? The city is hell for law, but some people enjoy it. Well luckily because I'm at Oxford the law firms are practically fighting each other to get us on board as soon as possible - hopefully I'll join one of the inns of court as soon as possible (hopefully the inner temple) and eventually join the Bar and in fact we have a presentation by them pretty soon (despite being in our 4th week of Law  ) As to place, London would be excellent but I'm not sure about the strain - also so far constitutional law (sovereignty, separation of powers, doctrines of law that kind of thing) is probably my favourite topic so I may even end up working in Europe (the ECJ or ECHR possibly). But this is a very early stage  not even a term in yet.

Currently the plan is complete law degree -> become lawyer -> become barrister After barrister, not a clue, judge is always a possibility, and I wouldn't be adverse to becoming a Law Lord one day
  15. Could be an interesting side debate though - why do you think we can do without a government?
  16. And your sources/backup would be where now...? On-topic: I never realised this was so debated - In the UK its been a quiet issue recently aside from the odd flare up with postal strikes and things but its certainly not on the brink of collapsing the country.
  17. Why would a missile defense system make him consider starting a war? The keyword is shield not sword. Missile shield = America protected against Nukes = end of M.A.D. for America = removal of largest obstacle to potential nuclear strikes
  18. Close Close Close Windows has shown itself to not only be able to break when I do nothing but also fix itself with zero input from me.
  19. I don't know what's worse: getting given that as a gift, or the fact that someone bought the Daily Hate Mail on conescutive days to get them. Meh, grandparents, they have a tendency towards racism/thinking technology is evil/crosswords In my defence, they arent related to me by blood \
  20. Not mine, but my stepsister once received from her grandparents a compilation of the free CDs given out by the Daily Mail. That has to hurt.
  21. How can you disagree with the right to appeal :-s Many big BIG cases have had their verdicts reversed (rightfully) due to higher appeal. I'm unsure whether this is your view or not but presumably you've heard it argued to reference it.
  22. Did anyone else catch the news that Mclaren are trying to have some participants of the last race thrown out? Something to do with fuel temperatures I think but it could bump up Hamilton one position and let him win...
  23. In response to your first situation I can shed some light on the UK legal system. Basically in a crime you have to have the actus reus (the physical element) and the mens rea (the mental element). Now in this case the mental element is pretty simple - they both intended to kill so I'll disregard that. In terms of the actus reus under english law the current definition comes from the Appeal Court of the House of Lords and can be simplified as this. The act must either be successful or have been virtually certain to occur or (and this is the applicable part) if, by success of the planned act (the shooting of the gun) a consequent act is virtually certain (injury/death). This final definition was added after Lord Denning (I think) put forward a similar problem - say a bomb maker puts a bomb on a plane full of cargo to claim the insurance - he is a poor bomb maker so it is by no means a virtual certainty it will kill - previously it would have been possible to make a case for manslaughter verdict but under the added part this is no longer the case. Admittedly the actual charge would be one of attempted rather than actual murder (as a murder charge can only occur with death, obviously) but as attempted and actual murder hold the same scope of penalty (as I would expect of most countries) justice is upheld. @ Assassin under UK law people are never punished for bad luck - for someone to be proven blameworthy and therefore guilty a chain of causation must be present and unbroken - if a new and unforeseen act occurs (technically called a novus actus interveniens) this chain is broken and no blame attaches - thus no guilt occurs due to simple bad luck. Its more complicated than this but that's the condensed version.

  25. Last holiday I went on I took a slap in the face from a freshly caught dogfish on the promise a friend would run a lap of the camp-site in next to nothing (why do Bubsa's topics always attracted thong related running!?). I had fun on my holiday What do you do? read? think? sit in a corner?
