(Tl;dr version at end of post) No method of training is "stupid" in my opinion. Anyway, that wasn't the point I was making. Training stupidly for the sake of fun would be training stupidly, like a stupid person would. You may not be saying it with so many words, but you are implying that someone is stupid. I must say that at least you did make a decent suggestion in the thread I used as an example, but you mocked the OP too. How do you think that comes accross? You're indirectly calling him stupid, and the other "efficiency posters" felt the need to point out how stupid and ignorant he was too. There is a difference between having a high IQ and not being stupid. As for the mining example, that happened before resource dungeons, and the F2p player who asked the question wanted to know F2p methods only. Perhaps I should have elaborated more, but the point was much like the thread I linked to. The "efficiency troll" didn't care what was asked and just pushed through his own tunnel vision idea of how things should be done, regardless of the fact that this person specifically noted he was not interested in paying for the game. Again, the point I was trying to make is that apparently it's about the whole efficiency versus fun thing rather than answer a user's questions. I don't actually recall my specific words, but I usually do suggest more than one method. Please see the above elaboration on that (I obviously neglected to be a little more specific, my bad). That thread is a perfect example of why sometimes I feel "efficiency trolls" should have the quotation marks removed. wut.....? One gave gave honest advice, the OP declined it and gave a reason as to why, which is fine. The original advice giver responded saying he didn't understand the decline, and why, which is fine. And then 2 people jumped on him for being an efficiency troll.... Not once did the advice giver troll, insult, instigate flame, or patronize anyone in the thread. Nice try though. The OP asked a specific question to which there was a specific answer. If he wished to know his options on how to train crafting and magic he would ask that, but since he obviously already had decided he just wanted advice on the act of enchanting. In that thread I only see two helpful replies (my own and the 11th) and one semi-helpful, semi-mocking (the 12th) out of 13 posts. You can say the "efficiency" poster didn't flame, but if you look at it, some of them were indeed disrespectful towards his approach, and I see a Mod trying to put it to a stop before it got out of hand. The second poster seemed rigid in his notion that everything did have to go as efficiently as possible, and was blind to the OP's question. The fact that someone pointed out that not everyone is obsessed by the "efficient use of game time" isn't calling someone a troll, but stating a fact. What makes me sick however, is that such people seem blind to what a person wants to know, and just dismiss them before throwing insults. Your comparison is ridiculous enough for me to comment on it. xD Seriously though, there is a difference between wanting to train magic a slower and "profitable" way, cutting the costs on something he was going to do anyway (making air battlestaves is not a bad method of training crafting) and trying to kill bosses with the weapons of a novice player. Sure, it's a matter of perception, but there is such a thing as respecting the less efficient methods that aren't ridiculous. As for killing the guardian with magic, the adventurer's log suggests L0d1m4 is F2p. Would you happen to be able to provide a link to the log on which you did the quest, if not a screenshot of killing the guardian with magic? That would help loads, thanks. :thumbup:

Forgive me for not reading the entire thread, but I would argue that a person's actions do make a person (or at least to some extent). That said, calling a person's training methods stupid can indeed be considered insulting or rude, and does help create arguments on the whole "efficiency vs fun" issue. For example, I reached 99 mining in free to play by mining and superheating mithril ore and coal in the mining guild - a method which I found satisfying as well as profitable, despite it taking many weeks (or months even) and being "inefficient". On one occasion a F2p user asking for advice on mining with the wish of training smithing and making money, so I suggested this method for him. I then had the pleasure of watching what you call an "efficiency troll" call me an idiot for having trained mining this way, and told the asker to become P2p and powermine granite, because that was "by far the best method in the game" according to him. The problem that I see is not so much the fact that some people prefer efficiency where others (like myself) often prefer slower and possibly "more fun" methods of training, but the fact that apparently answering a question no longer seems about answering what the asker wants to know, but more about trying to "win" with this notion of efficiency versus fun. At times users are rude, arrogant and just obnoxious with their notion of being "right about what is best" where it always will be a matter of opinions. What do I mean you may ask? Threads like this one right here. I dare you just to read the first 10 posts, and hopefully you'll see what I mean.

Indeed, greed is one of the biggest flaws of the average player. It's always good to remember to check any and all links before going places (some have miss-spellings looking like the real thing), and only enter your RuneScape user and password on RuneScape's official site. You don't need to check other sites to see if someone may or may not be legit as you can tell by the green Jagex bar that appears next to the web address. No green bar equals scam.

Sounds like loyalty rate to me :o You get that message anyway once you've been subscribed for a year or more.

You can already succesfully get rid of unfair mutes/bans, if you're determined enough and refuse to take no for an answer. ;) That said, with the points mentioned by others I wouldn't pay more than I already am. With the method I use loyalty rate is €5,30/month, and I'd be willing to let that go up to €6,50. If they charge more than that I''m out.

Erm I think you're mistaking RuneScape for World of Warcraft. xD RuneScape may be the number two, but last time I checked this meant having less than 10% of the market share. Still, I believe Jagex has every intention of keeping RuneScape a java based game, which (from my understanding) makes it hard to keep up with advances and to adapt it so that it's suitable for phones.

For now the only people that can report people without delay are player mods (or at least this was the case when I was one). I agree that it would be useful to ensure other players can too, although there should be a limit for reporting the same user to avoid spam-reporting. As for the clicking option, I'm not too sure what to think to be honest. It would make trading in very crowded areas or getting assists for people in W117 quite hard as there'd be another set of options. It'd be quite easy to miss-click, but adding an option to the in-game chat (like there is "add to friends/ignore" and "kick" in chat options now) to report users would be helpful I suppose.
