  1. Northeast corner of Ardougne is third teleportation to rune essence.
  2. Rethink your book purchase. Zamorak's +8 to all attack is huge. Huge, I tell you. I had the Sara book first, and regret not having gone for Zammy. When you go Barrowing, or playing PC, you'll wish you had your Zammy book. Blue dragons really are a good thing to kill, and most Blue Dragon areas have range/mage safe spots. And if you're gonna mage/range something from a safespot, that's even MORE of an argument for a Zammy book. Why get 4/4 att/def if you're in a safe spot? +8 Attack!
  3. I bought one of the guides, and it was pretty much only good for people (1) brand new to RS and (2) who have not discovered tip.it. Not worth it.
  4. Cave Slimes drop 1-9 Swamp Tar. As far as I know, there are no General Stores that sell swamp tar (Razmire sells swamp paste). Either kill Cave slimes, or wander about one of Runescape's swamps.
  5. You should read the thread a little more closely. I don't want a dragon chain, I just want rewards that make the hour required for the 500 point gamble worth it. How many trips to the Kalphite Queen can you make in the hour it would take you to get 500 BA points in one skill to do the gamble? Plus, you know doing the Kalphite Queen that you'll get acceptable rewards in the 20-40 trips you'll have to wait before you do getting a Dragon Chain.
  6. As evidenced by some of the gracious replies on this thread (by those who do not appear to have heard the phrase "if you having nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all"), you're not not going to miss much here on Runescape. The number of anti-social miscreants, be they scammers or angry, pointless repliers, make the game hard for most decent folk to stomach for too long. Good luck in your other pursuits.
  7. I would be a total BA addict if they took this simple step. I'd rather they took away the chance at a D-Chain and other uber-rares, and did what you recommended. If I can get a Zammy Page on a level 1 Treasure Trail, there's no reason for a 500-point gamble to give me such crappy rewards. If it took as long as a game of Pest Control, well, then maybe. But it takes a frickin' hour or so to get 500 points.
  8. I totally read that as "features" the first time I saw it. Made me laugh when I read it correctly. In Jagex's defense, I don't think they ever intend for the new features to be failures. However, when they release a new feature that proves to be a failure, and then fail to take the simple steps required to make the feature a success, that's when they fail us, their customers.
  9. I know Jagex makes little tweaks and whatnot per user suggestions, but do they ever significantly change the game based on what players think? I've only been playing for about a year, so I don't quite know Jagex's history when it comes to releasing a new feature, seeing how the community reacts, and then modifying the game based on all the feedback they get. The most recent example is Barbarian Assault: a cool mini-game that, because of several severe shortcomings, is quickly becoming the new Burthorpe Games Room (ironically enough, they're on the same piece of Jewelry). Now Jagex has quite a few mini-games, only half of which are played by anybody. I'd have to think that when the Blast Furnace, Games Room, Trouble Brewing, Fishing Trawler, Gnome Ball, etc., came out, folks who liked the game had some constructive feedback to make the mini-games more enjoyable and popular. But here we are, however many months/years later, and these minigames still suck. And there's no reason why I wouldn't play gnomeball, or use the blast furnace, or the fishing trawler, if they weren't the way they are now. What possesses Jagex to come up with these mini-games, invest time and money in them, and just abandon them, rather than listen to user feedback and tweak them to make people want to play them? You can make the blast furnace more enjoyable simply by putting a bank closer to it. Smithing is the biggest pain in the rear to train, and a bank on the east side of the river, anywhere on the east side of the river, would make that game a smashing success. But Jagex won't do it because... why? Gnomeball could be a really fun way to train agility. If there were any signficant agility rewards. But there aren't. It's a way to get, like, your first 10 agility levels and then it's useless. And now Barbarian Assault. All Jagex has to do is tweak the gambling rewards a little bit to make them not suck so often, and Barbarian Assault would suddenly become insanely popular. Make it similar to Treasure Trails which require far less time and effort to complete, and the Barbarian outpost will be overflowing with happy 'scapers! But they're not going to do it. Just as they do not appear to have ever listened to player feedback on the other potentially fun mini-games, to go that extra step to make the games enjoyable, Jagex will be content to let Barbarian Assault die. It's very strange to me.
  10. I really don't understand what you're saying here at all. How have PC and Barrows ruined anyone? I agree that Barbarian Assault is fun (as I mentioned), but anytime I'm playing RS, I have to think "Is this time I'm spending actually getting me anywhere in-game?" Given the huge time investment BA requires, this is an even more important question now. As a level 124 this may not be a concern for you, but for most others who play the game, it most certainly is. After you've gotten the 2-4 worthwhile BA rewards, why would anyone play?
  11. BA's failure is quite simple: You get no XP; You get no GP; It requires a HUUUGE time investment; Your success is dependent upon others; and The rewards are terrible. Considering that it takes a good hour to get enough points for the 500 point gamble, the rewards are utterly pathetic. I'm better off doing Slayer or Barrows for that hour. In that time I'll get a clue scroll or two, or get a nice Barrows drop, to make that hour worthwhile. With BA? I'll get 22 teaks for the effort (like I couldn't have cut 600 -1000 teaks in that hour). The game itself is fun. The rewards are utterly useless. As such, in the Runescapian universe, where ones efforts should generally get you some XP or GP after extensive effort, BA is pointless.
  12. I would modify that plan in one way: Do "Throne of Miscellania" and "Royal Trouble", and get your workers to gather you some Maple logs for 40 gp each. When you can fletch maple longs (55), do that. The "Charter Crewmembers" in Catherby will buy unstrung Maple Longs at 44 gp (and that is the overstocked/lowest price they buy at). So you get XP faster, and actually make a few gee-pees along the way.
  13. Flatpacking Oak furniture on your workbench, or building and rebuilding oak larders in your kitchen.
  14. I forgot to add: wear your ring of wealth. You get a lot more Tarromin back. You don't make money. It pays for itself by giving you all the ingredients: logs for ashes, tarromins, and water-filled vials.
  15. Get a whip and head to Pest Control with Afflication or Heart Unit. Putting all your points towards Attack or Defense, and using your whip with XP going to Attack or Defense, you can probably get 99 Attack or Defense in fairly short order. It won't cost you a dime, and you'll actually make a couple of gps along the way.
  16. [quote name="Home > Manual > RuneScape Mini Games > Barbarian Assault ]As you play through Barbarian Assault' date=' defeating wave after wave of persistent creatures, you will notice that you gain honour points, [i']but no experience points of any kind[/i]. Of course, it's possible there may have been a glitch early on, but... And Barrows degrades. Makes getting the Granite Plate after your win all the more of a good idea.
  17. If you've completed Shades of Morton, you can some tarromin to make Serum 207 pots (50 xp each, ~260K pots for 99 Herblore), and use them on the Afflicted. For curing the Afflicted, you will be rewarded with logs, tarromin, water-filled vials, etc. It is largely a self-sustaining operation. So, techically, you could get 99 herblore without losing a dime. It just takes forever. This, combined with herb farming, second gathering, and getting herbs from Miscellania, would get you there eventually.
  18. The good folks at Tip.it have some recommendations
  19. Very, very slow rate of fire on the crossbow. The advantage of the crossbow are the enchanted bolts and their crazy specials. But given how slow they fire, and that the specials only go off randomly, it really doesn't seem like a practical option.
  20. Actually, I have 70 Defence. Sorry my bad. I seen you had 65 strengh and tought it was defence. Since you have 70 defence forget about granite and jump to barrows armor. You can buy a nice torag pl8 for a resonable price and it's alot better. About the repair of barrows armor, belive me when i say it is worthed. Keeping in mind, by "reasaonable" he means 900K. Vs. 95K.
  21. While the brothers may not have high defense on their own, their armors, at least the four melee brothers, totally own range. It would take about 7 hits, on average, to take down a Barrows brother. Do you think you can hit 1-4 times against the best range armor out there?
  22. Rune Plate + 0 + 0 + 0 - 30 - 10 ... + 82 + 80 + 72 - 6 + 80 Granite Body + 0 + 0 + 0 - 22 - 05 ... + 87 + 84 + 79 - 6 + 97 Dragon Chain + 0 + 0 + 0 - 15 + 00 ... + 81 + 93 + 98 - 3 + 82 Granite owns Dragon Chain against Stab and Range. Gets owned vs. Crush and Slash. Both more-or-less bite vs Mage. Barrows excluded, Granite is Runescape's best for going up against Ranging and Stabbing foes, and second only to Dragon Chain for Crush and Slash. If you don't think that worth 95K...
  23. It took me 1,500 from none to rune. It took me 600 tokens (1 hour) to go from black to mith, and then 50 to get addy. It's quite fickle... Got rune on, literally, my last 10 tokens.
  24. The speed of fishing Swords and Tuna (as well as XP) balances out to be the same as Lobsters. However, you can sell 2 raw Lobs for 500, or 1 raw Sword and 1 raw Tuna for 400. Fish and cooking XP are the same, but you make more money with the Lobbies.
