  1. Not sure if anyone has been on RS official forums, but prices are about 600-800/Red Chinchompa nowadays. A few merchants found out about muggi's secret spot, bought up as many as they could find, and then announced the secret spot and a guide on how to use the to get 200K Range XP/hour on RSOF.
  2. Advice is fairly useless. If you read the Game Update description, you pretty much got the info the cat offers.
  3. I rember a guide about that, but it said if you started a quest or something you could get off the island walk a little bit and talk to some one who put your stuff in your invtory to the bank, making it so you didn't have to walk all that way. First, I'd recommend using a Glory Ammy or Ring of Dueling to Bank, and then Lyre back. Second, if you have started but haven't finished Fremennik Trials, there's somebody (the Seer, I think) in Rellekka who will bank everything in your inventory, and all that you're wearing.
  4. I've found that, like with many things in RS, other players mess things up for you. This could be good once it dies down. And Jagex: BAN THE ******* CATS *******!
  5. I find "Autumn" to be next to impossible, while Spring is easy as pie. I can get 10 glasses of "Spring" juice in time it takes me to get 3 "Autumn" juices. At this point, I think I'm just gonna gather the 1,350xp Spring squirk drinks, rather than the 2,350 xp Autumn ones.
  6. Cannonballs give 2XP per hit instead of 4XP per arrow. They do a random 1-30 per hit. I find they do an average of 12 hits/24 XP per cannonball (you do occasionally miss, ergo the average of 12 instead of 15). I do not think/know if your ability to hit with a cannon is affected by your range level. I do not think it is. I think the cannon operates totally independent of your range level. You get the XP very fast, as the cannon shoots far faster than any bow, and the average damage far surpasses a bow. And you get no HP XP. Depending upon the build you're looking for, that is a plus or a minus. 3 million gp would get you a cannon and about 320K Range XP (2-61 Ranged) in about 3-4 hours. I have no idea how long it would take to get that much range XP with a bow and iron arrows the normal way. I'm thinking maybe 30-50 hours. Can you make 2.4 million back with the 25-45 hours you save? I would say yes. Just smelt cannonballs, and you can make 80-100K/hour, so... I would say "heck yes" if you have 3 million at this point to do it with. I wish I had know this sooner.
  7. I updated to Norton Internet Security 2007, and within 3 days had to find a new product. It so severely impacted my ability to surf the web, it rendered my computer fairly useless (and I have a pretty decent system and cable-internet). RS was so laggy with IS2007 that I could not consider going into risky situations with the Firewall enabled. So as a RS player, I would advise strongly against Norton.
  8. As a programmer in the real world, I would be very careful about your introduction into programming. There are two programming models/methodologies out there: procedural and object-oriented. Procedural programming is the way of the past, object-oriented is the way of the present and future. If you learn a procedural language (like Visual Basic) first, it will make the transition to object-oriented programming (C++, Java, Microsoft *.net, etc.) more difficult. I envy that you're just starting out. Go straight for object-oriented programming (OOP) languages and methodologies. As an older person such as myself, the transition to OOP was rather difficult. Procedural is very easy to understand, but it is also fundamentally different way of thinking about programming from OOP. Learning procedural first runs the risk of getting you into bad, outdated habits. With all that said, if an old fart like me can wrap my head around it, no doubt a young person with a sincere interest in programming can do it very easily. It's not as hard as it seems or sounds.
  9. Analysis Complete. Dragon Axe 14.3% better. Thanks for the support and kind words along the way.
  10. I'm not a high level hunter, but south of Ardougne and north of the Fight Arena, there is a church/altar. Just east of that church is rotten with imps. Like 7-9 of 'em wandering around. All those yellow dots outside the church are imps. I know there is a farmer and a leprechaun by the bush, but there are at least 7 imps in that area.
  11. Quite right. And if I'm not mistaken, the head will only fall off when you start on a tree. It will not happen mid-tree. Just like a Treant/Ent will appear when you start on a tree, not while you're in the midst of cutting. If that is the case, then simply take a few extra seconds and make sure, when starting to cut, you don't get a treant or lose and axe-head. Or if you know you're going to AFK a lot, use a Rune Axe for that session.
  12. You can still report. It saves the last 60 seconds of dialogue from the time of the report.
  13. This is the only surefire, guaranteed way to make money crafting. Just make sure you do the "Hand in the Sand" Quest for free sand, and gather your own seaweed/soda ash from charter crewmembers. That way, you can get molten glass cheap, and not have to pay 1K each. Then you're guaranteed a good 1K profit on a 9.3K Battlestaff. The problem is, it can be rather slow going. Especially collecting the battlestaves.
  14. Yes, as was just mentioned, explore the wilderness with nothing on, and no items in your inventory. That way, when you get PKed (and you will, even if you're carrying nothing of value), you lose nothing. You can find out your own comabt level by clicking on the "Crossed Swords" in your control panel, where you select different attack styles.
  15. And how much time do u get? Another hour? Compared to using an msb and bronze arrows, a cbow+pots is a truckload of cash more, and the time saved is not worth the money spent. I say go with bronze or iron arrows With all due respect, if one's ultimate goal is 99 range, using better equipment makes a huge difference. It may not seem like it when your levels are 30-40K XP apart, but wait until you have 250K XP till you next level. You'll do anything to speed that up. Mith is about 10-25% better than Iron, and addy even better. If you can speed up your range training by 15-20%, you have time to do other money-making things like runecraft or Barrows or what have you. Of course, using Red Chinchompas is the best way to train range, but that's a completely different story ;)
  16. Based on the data I accumulated, cutting 1K Yews with a Dragon Axe would have saved me 40:15.0 I would estimate that, were I to cut yews from here on out to 99, I would save anywhere from 20-30 hours using a Dragon Axe. That's pretty significant. (The current time difference is 2.4 seconds/yew. I estimated in the long run a difference of 1.2 over all the cutting I'd do on the way to 99. 63K x 1.2 seconds = 21 hours)
  17. Saying that "rune is almost as good as dragon" is one way of looking at the data. Another person can also look and say "wow, dragon is signficantly better than rune". When you look at the long term impact of an 8-13% improvement, I think you'll get a different impression. Also, added 4 more loads of each into the analysis...
  18. Worlds, 2, 6, 9 and 12 (and sometimes 100) tend to be the best worlds.
  19. If you can hack it, I recommend completing Monkey Madness and getting a Dragon Scimitar. It's faster than the long, and basically the same stats. In the long term, it's the best strength training weapon for your level. I also think its' a good idea to bring a Dragon Dagger (p++) to K-O (with it's Special Attack) whatever you're fighting. Fighter Torso from Barbarian assault boosts Strength, as do Rune Boots or Climbing Boots (require a couple of quests to get, methinks). There's also the good aul Amulet of Glory for Attack Bonuses. Unless you can afford a fury. Better yet, though it requires completion of Haunted Mine and then Tarn's Lair minigame, the Salve Amulet (e) gives a 20% boost to Attack and Strength when fighting undead (Skeletons and Zombies). Then, training on Skellies and Zombies gets even easier.
  20. Behind the Seers bank, to the Northwest, you'll find, like, 4 Willows.
  21. Super Set, 2-3 Prayer Pots(4), and at least sharks. I used Tuna Potatoes, 16, and had to eat 'em all. The most important thing is the one-click tele, which you have. They can hit close to 20, so be very careful. I saw lots of 90+ players getting taken to task.
  22. Making cannonballs with 35 smithing is pretty good dough, and you can AFK a lot and read the forums here at tip.it. Some folks make millions on construction with creative uses of their gilded altars. 63 Hunting gets you Red Chinchompas, which are going for 400 each now. Catching 300-400/hour is possible. Mining either Iron or Pure Ess is good money, as you can get 110 each, and can usually get 800-1,000 per hour in Yanille.
  23. No, in that case, the other guy is in the wrong. Anyone can ignore you for any reason. If you come to my world and start cannoning the monster I was training on, and I was to stay and be forced to train on another moster (or have to run around trying to find one your cannon isn't hitting at that moment), do you really expect me to make small talk with you? If you're going to cannon somewhere, in the way you do it, expect to get cold shoulders and not make any friends.
  24. Red Chinchompas in Pest Control. Got me from 64 to 83 Range fairly quickly when using them on really crowded portals. Plus it's fun and not at all boring. The only bad part is the price of the little buggers are going higher and higher as people realize how insanely fast and fun they are to train range with.
  25. I had to tele out three times. They're not a very nice bunch of trolls, no they're not. Lots of level 90s and up were getting owned when I was there as well. But there's probably a way to cannon 'em outside the cave...
