  1. The Edgeville druids are closer to the bank than the Taverly Chaos druids are to fally. The druids are very, very weak, so if you three item it (Ring of Wealth, good weapon, best d'hide body), you're at really no major risk. Plus, it's level 2 wildy, very close to the exit. Risk is quite slight. Wear green dragonhide chaps and vambs, a leather coif, your best d'hide body, an elementals shield, ring of wealth, and your best slashing weapon. Or you can even range. If you can get your herblore up to 25, you can make even more by identifying Rannar weeds and selling those, and then selling unids above Rannar for 1.5-2K each. It's definitely worth the initial investment.
  2. The Trolls in the Fremennik Isles have awesome drops. I think you can cost-justify a cannon there based on the drops you'll get.
  3. Having played the game a while, it takes me about 30 mintues, to get 10 glasses of autumn, which I can redeem for 23,500 thieving XP. The last time I was there, there was another fella who had really gotten it down, and was going faster than I was.
  4. Do you have a second floor? And if so, is there are a room above the combat room?
  5. If you give the new minigame "Sorceress's Garden" a while to get a hang of it, you can get really fast XP there. I've never tried Pyramid Plunder, however. EDIT: One of the things I like about the new minigame is that, as long as you're careful and patient (and there's no one else playing), you can pretty much control whether your fail or not. What I cannot tolerate about Thieving and Agility training is the random failing. For some reason that just annoys me to no end, and I could not train it. The "Sorceress's Garden" has made Thieving trainable for me.
  6. Aye. Marble burners give you more XP than lower-level burners, although I don't think anyone has taken the time to document the XP differences*. Figure probably 10-20% difference per level of burner (i.e., A Gilded Altar with two Mahogany burners lit might only get you 325-340 Prayer XP per bone used, rather than 350 if using Marble burners). *If someone has, my apologies. I just tested this myself a couple of days ago. Mahogany burners with gilded altar give exactly the same experience per bone as marble burners with gilded altar - 252 experience per dragon bone. I was disappointed because I spent the considerable amount more on marble burners thinking they would make a difference in the amount of experience, but it is not the case :( But it is good news for those who want to save some money, lol. I'm not going to dispute your findings, as I haven't done the same thing, but I will point to:
  7. The "A sq'irk a day" minigame will get you there in just a few hours. EDIT: The game is called "Sorceress's Garden" ( http://kbase.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/ ... le_id=2941 )
  8. Just as a note: other than the time it takes and the added Hitpoints XP, getting up to like 80 Range and 80 Mage with this setup wouldn't effect your combat level at all.
  9. I've never tried, but I don't know why it wouldn't. If you're a range pure, consider picking up a crossbow and some bolts for that Slayer task. You can wield a crossbow and equip a mirror shield at the same time.
  10. I would actually just keep you cash as GP, since with the price of most things falling, you're essentially increasing your buying power by holding onto your GPs. Rares and most exotic weapon and armor prices keep on dropping so there's no way to say for sure which investment might turn around and when it might turn around. With raw materials prices so high, it's hard to say that they won't have dropped by the time you get back mid-summer. You could buy a rare, and prices may rebound starting tomorrow, and you could make a fortune. Or they could continue dropping and when you get back to the game, your 12 million might only be worth 10-11 million. What's more, who knows what updates Runescape will come out with in the coming months, completely altering the "economy" hereabouts. I say, keep it in cash. Not very exciting, but since you're letting your membership lapse and can't keep up your Miscellanian kingdom, there's no other option without a certain amount of risk.

  12. this is the best way, but pots can be expensive That's why there is an altar upstairs. If you're going upstairs to pray every time your Prayer runs out, it almost defeats the purpose of leaving Pest Control and going to Ape Atoll. You only get the 200K XP/Hour if you stand there and keep attacking, potting yourself back up whenever you get low. If you're only going to be getting 100K XP/Hour, or less, by running to the temple to pray, I would say just stay at Pest Control in World 78. No actual danger and nothing to risk for pretty much the same XP/Hour (to say nothing of the XP bonus after 100 points).
  13. While "Saruman" and "Saradomin" are close, I really think that's a bit of stretch. There are a few common letters, but...
  14. Except that we're comparing prices today to prices in October, when Skill Capes were released. Not one year ago. While it may be convenient for your theory of "there's nothing to see here", creating a strawman argument to knock down is intellectually lazy. Let's get a little perspective on the authority with which you're making your claims. I read on another thread recently that "Duke_Freedom" was banned some time ago, and you haven't been playing much/at all since then. Please clarify for us how long it's been since you've actually played Runescape, have gone looking for resources, etc. You're arrogantly dismissing everyone's claims as if your perspective is the be-all, end-all of Runescapian economics. But that statement I've highlighted above would actually indicate that you haven't been playing much at all. Autoers are everywhere, they've moved into P2P killing dragons for bones and hides, mining pure essence, etc. There are more of them, and they're getting more and more sophisticated. So despite the increase of autoers, and the corresponding increase in supply of resources, the prices are going up. Why? Why has demand gone up so dramatically since October, in the face of this increased supply? Duke Freedom: Oh no reason. Just a natural fluctation of the market. I know, because I used to play the game a while back and I know everything, and always will. If you were offering a competing theory, or had some other explanation than a pompous and lazy "poop happens", you'd have a bit more credibility. There are likely many factors behind the rise and then decline of rares, and and fall and rise of the price of resources. I don't claim to know each and every variable in the movement of prices, but something is driving these changes. If you don't want to get into the nitty gritty, fine. But don't come here and try poo-poo valid theories with false statements.
  15. Treznor (Varrock Castle Gardner) - Trent Reznor was/is the frontman of Nine Inch Nails. King Roald (King of Misthalin) - Roald Dahl was a British writer of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (amongst other things).
  16. There is a bridge over the River Lum. Ergo, Lumbridge... Lum the Mad was a character in the Dungeons and Dragons' Greyhawk campaign created by Gary Gygax several decades ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lum_the_Mad_%28Greyhawk%29 I think there has to be a tie-in there.
  17. I kinda like burning up the Ice Trolls in the (EDIT) Jaitzo Mining cave. Sometimes it's hard getting to the safespot after you engage them (you get hit every now and again), but if you bring about 10-15 lobbies, you can stay down there about an hour. I've done it twice, the first time I got a granite shield and about 60K in drops (alched 30K worth of stuff and got 40 raw sharks). Second time I got 3 rune kites, 25K in alchable stuff and 25 raw sharks. It can get dicey, but you're soooo close to a bank, it's very easy to go back up and restock. Good for ranging and maging.
  18. http://hiscore-web.runescape.com/lang/e ... ws?table=1 In the "Search By Rank" box, enter "1000000". Click the "Search" button right below where you entered "1000000". Do this regularly, as it is an ever-increasing number.
  19. Compared to back in October when skill capes were released, you're quite wrong. Smithing (1) Iron used to be easy to get at 90 some months ago. Now I offer 110 and often don't get takers. (2) Gold ore was not 500 gp 5 months ago. (3) I used to trade ores and 60 gp for steel bars (70 for my good producers), when 50 was the highest offer below mine. Now, 90-100 gp is the fee, and steel bar prices are much, much harder to find below 600. The increasing popularity of Miscellania has kept coal prices in check. Cooking Raw lobbies could have been found for 200. 250 is now the bottom for raws. Crafting The birth of the green dragon autoers helped keep hide prices in check, so crafting (and prayer for that matter) can't be evaluated, really. Runecrafting Pure Essence is now 110, used to be able to find easily for under 100. Conversely, with so many people Runecrafting for 99, runes are cheaper to get these days. Construction Peaked soon after it's release, then ebbed. The number of plank buyers, and the price they're paying, however, are rising again lately, it looks like. I haven't been as watchful of things like herb and seed prices, so I don't know if there has been any similair changes. But it's hard to imagine that herblore and farming would be immune to these same trends. So I'm not sure what game you're playing, but all the resource consuming skills have gotten far pricier, albeit gradually, in the 5 months since the release of skill capes.

  21. At that particular point in time I was watching rares quite a bit, trying to figure out trends, and gain some insight into the unchallengable conventional wisdom that "rares always go up". And I could swear I recall seeing the upper range at Zybez.net hit 1 Billion for a week or so. And if I was off by 20 million on a billion gp, what exactly is your point? Ignore the whole post but chime in with some trivia? Nice value-add.
  22. Is that even a word?? :-k In the UK it means like a shouting argument, I think.
  23. Some people don't like some updates, other people don't like others. And if an update comes out that some people dont like, and if there's a forum, someone is going to post about it, and oftentimes on these boards offer constructive criticism. What's wrong with that? Why is criticism such a problem? I have to think that other MMORPGs are not immune from this phenomenon either. That's rather an ignorant statement. A lot of folks have hundreds, if not thousands, of hours invested in the creation of their character. They want Runescape to succeed, and they want updates that will entertain them. Once you start playing a little longer, and get to the point where you have to go weeks and/or months in between levels in your skills, you'll have a different perspective, and see why higher-level folks look forward to updates so much. I'm not even there yet, but I feel their pain. The 80s are slow and expensive. I can't even imagine the 90s. At your level you have different concerns than a level 115. I'm actually surprised that Jagex has so little for high-level players to do. The ones who have been the most dedicated, have been playing the longest, and who have the longest time in between levels. You'd think Jagex doesn't want them around anymore.
  24. Capital City? The Welsh meets the Simpsons! :o
