  1. One of the most respected 99's to date, congrats!
  2. I have been wanting to complete this goal ever since I started playing this game years ago, on another account. The fun and the variety in this kill kept me going for 5 months straight, and this is where we are today! Owned_4ever2
  3. Very nice and detailed guide, try to shorten it in or people will hestitate before they are going to read it all. There's already some splendid DK guides in the Archive of Wisdom section, so maybe you can have a look at those to see how they their creators managed to put incredibly much information in a relatively short guide compared to yours ;)
  4. The point of junk is, that is doesn't exist. People claim it does, but think about what 'junk' really is and how most junk was obtained, and you will find out it doesn't exist. It does not matter whether you sell your item for max price in the ge or for tripple the price to another player with "junk". The only situation in which that would be beneficial is when you actually BOUGHT that junk on purpose, but that's a major mistake by everyone in the first place, cause it doesn't exist. When you are BUYING junk of someone else, then the junk isn't junk, but you just switched useful monetary money for useless items.
  5. Only good ones inmo are school, phone and damn...
  6. I should've quitted over a year by now, due to the fact this game has really bored me down. However 99 slayer has always been my long term goal so I decided to return to take care of that, so I could quit again with a good feeling. Currently only 700k xp left to 98 so I guess I have about a month (maybe a little less) to enjoy my nice pixels. ^^ Also next year I'm going to university to study Economy & Business which I need all of my time for, so yeah I didn't have much choice but to quit anyway.
  7. I'd never do it, I have a life If I however HAD to do it it would either be cooking to make it fast, but if I'd be locked up in a house for a few years and only had a pc for my entertainment, it would be slayer. Yes it is slow, but gives years of playtime!
  8. Maybe in this hypothetical situation therefore we should refer to attack/strength/defence as one stat, else if someone likes combat he has already 3/5 spots reserved for those 3 skills, with hardly anything left to chose from.
  9. I wouldn't state that it is overrated, it however doesn't really give a good indication of someone's rank. I wonder though if there actually IS any way that would do it. Total xp surely gives a more detailed indication, however I still feel someone with 30m cooking xp has doen less then someone with 10m slayer xp (I'm not against the cooking skill whatsoever, just pointing it out in this comparison). Something like rank shouldn't actually exist, it causes too much controversy without ever getting to a point where it really means anything. What I find most important is that you get as much satisfaction from playing this game as you can, that you do what you feel like and don't feel forced at any given point to do something, that however can only be shown in a personal 'rank', and thus not be compared to others. Just get rid of the ranking system to safe a lot of debate that leads nowhere!
  10. SLAYER (which automatically incorporates hp, so I am still on 1 skill right? ^^), Herblore (to make my own potions for slayer, Magic (makes it a lot easier to move around the map), Summoning (that way I don't need fishing+cooking to make my own food, I assume you don't allow trading with other people) and last but not least runecrafting (I hate it, but I need something to make my own runes for magic right?).
  11. First of all I'd like to point out that merching in general isn't as quick as most people think. I as a solo mercher check prices of specific items on a daily basis. I make sure I keep track of the daily change in value, and in case I miss an update due to my absence I make sure I get the data from someone else. I keep track of all this information in an Excel filesheet, including graphs. Besides that I check the forums every hour that I'm online for items that I expect to be merching in the coming week to check the number of sellers and buyers of this specific items in the last 'x' hours, and the price they are willing trading it for. By doing all this I'm trying to discover a certain pattern in price changes, because usually these patters re occur every once in a while. I've been doing so or a while now and got loads of data that can be very useful, as long as you know how you should approach this data. You should understand however that I don't think for just a minute about an item and then buy it to make some nice money, it takes a lot of time for many people to analyse the situation and then make a decision which item is best to merchant at which times. Therefore I feel, saying merching is 'quick cash' is a term I don't find very relevant in this case, merching is by far not always quick, it takes time and dedication. --- The second thing I would like to point out is that you name merching basically means that you are scamming the system. Scamming has a very negative connotation, and even though I can understand that seeing an item that you've recently bought drop in value can be quite annoying, I don't think merchanting deserves this negative arousal around it. The GE-system was developed by Jagex, it probably took them months of thinking it out, working it out, and then checking it to make sure it worked like they wanted. By implementing trade limits and knowing that thousands of players used merchanting before that to make their money, it would've been absolutely ridiculous of them to think that those merchanters would not move onto something else, what goes around comes around. After months of developing they came up with the GE-system as we know it today. It was a very fierce change for almost any player, but especially for those that made money from merchanting items. Merchanters, like many other type of players, are quite flexible in what they do. Whe got a new totally new system on our plates, so we took a lot of time analyzing the new system to find out if there were ways to make make money out of it, and above all be able to do what we love to do, merchanting. It took some time but by now many know how they can merchant again and ge-merchant guides are growing in numbers, we got a new system, but we've adapted to it. Merchanters are eager for money and will always find ways to get more of it. Off course I agree that merchanting by just trading people directly ingame didn't influence prices as much as they do now with trade limits and the GE watching over our items, but that's a 'error' in Jagex' system, not in merchanter's way of to make money. One more thing I'd like to add to this is why people would have millions of gp in their bank, just sitting there, if they could invest it in something and make a little more gp, while they are doing their daily chores.
  12. I tried it, but even when I turn macro's on it gives an error when I want to select things in the vial section. I'm not pro with excel so I can't help you out how to solve it, also the message I get is in Dutch so putting that one here doesn't really help.
  13. You've got a point there, I realized when I had already uploaded the video so I couldn't change it anymore. I hope however it doesn't cause too much confusion, it's obvious you can't make 6300 nats an hour under 91 rc imo. Thanks for the comments so far guys, looking at the views my vid got it's getting used more than ever :P
  14. Does a certain thread exist on TIF that allows players to request a guide on a certain topic? I can imagine people want to know some detailed information about a certain RS related subject but fail to find an appropiate guide. Simultaneously a request thread would be great for those who like to make guides. It can be hard these days to find a topic that you like but hasn't been covered yet, or at least not well enough. It's hard sometimes to think of a useful topic in the first place, and most time in case you got one it already has tons of guides written on it. I'm just wondering if such a thread exists, and in case it doesn't, if you think we should have one. Thanks in advance, Owned_4ever2
  15. Yeah, hiding tabs is a great method to keep your post organised, and it allows you to easily add new information without disrupting the organization of the post either. In order to use hiding tabs you should use the following code: [.hide=] text (and/or images) text (and/or images) text (and/or images) text (and/or images) [./hide] (Remove the dots in the code) For example [hide=Introduction] I. The requirements You can enter the Runecrafting Guild through this portal: Which is located in the Wizard's Tower in Draynor, second floor. To enter this portal, you'll need to be level 50 in runecrafting. To play the game, you must have your hat-space free and your weapon-space free. You can take pets in the minigame. You can also take runes and money, almost everything into the game. [/hide] [hide=How to start] II. How to start. To get a small tutorial, talk to one of the wizards who isn't wearing a blue hat. To join a the green team talk to Acantha: To join the yellow team talk to Vief: To join a random team talk to a wizard: [/hide] [hide=The game]III. The game Once both of the teams got 2 players or more, it'll take about 20 seconds until the game starts. Prepare yourself and go stand next to this portal: You'll be send to the air altar. There you need to wait until the orbs come. After you're done a portal will appear and you'll get pure ess, which you can craft runes with. You'll go to the next altar if you go into the portal. The portals you'll go to are: Air Mind Water Earth Fire Body Chaos (Members Only) Nature (Members Only) The point of the game: You've received an attractor, repeller and a barrier generator of your team's color. The point is to get the most orbs of your team's color to the altar. The screen: You'll see how many orbs your team and the opponent team has scored in the red box. The time is shown in the yellow box. In the black box you'll see who won the last altars. The attractor: With the attractor you cand attract the orbs of you color towards you. If the time isn't almost up, then you can also attract the other color's orbs, but don't get them the altar, because you'll lose points. If you attract an orb, it'll come straight towards you and will remain 1 space away. You can get your orbs to the altar with this or get your opponent's orbs away from the altar. The repeller: With the repeller you repel the orbs away from you. This is helpful to score, more about how to score with the repeller I'll tell in the strategies part. You'll repel your orbs in a straight line. You can also repel your opponent's orbs to get them far away from the altar, this is pretty helpful, because sometimes they can't get their orbs back. The barrier generator: With the barrier generator you'll make barriers. If you place a barrier your team can't put another barrier, or the first one will disappear. After some time you can put another barrier without the first one disappearing. Your and your opponent's orbs can't pass the barrier. The higher your rc level, the harder it is for the opponent to remove it because, you can remove it by right clicking it. The higher your rc level, the easier you'll remove their barriers. You can also pass a barrier by clicking on it. [/hide] [hide=Strategies of the game] IV. Strategies of the game Here you see how to get the orbs to the altar by repelling: Here you see how to get the orbs to the altar by attracting: Repelling: If a orb of the opponent's team is on a place from which you can directly get it to the altar, try to repel it into a direction from which you can't get it directly to the altar Barrier repelling If you repel an orb into a place from which you can get it out from only one side, try to put a barrier on that side. 50-50 and 3-3-1-1 50-50 is a way to get each game tokens, first they yellow team wins 4 times, then the green team 4 times. 3-3-1-1 is basicly the same, but yellow wins 3 times then green wins 3 times, then yellow wins 1 time and green wins 1 time.[/ [/hide] [hide=The rewards] V. 16. 134 Combat + 96 slayer and I still have to get: Dragon Legs Dragon Skirt Dragon Chain Dragon 2h Half Shield Dragonic visage --- I've killed over 5k steels and 3k irons and still am left with no dragon drops whatsoever, same story after 2518 KQ's. I have HOWEVER been in a situation that I'm quite sure of NONE of you has been in ^^. On the day the mithril dragons were released I decided to go there right when I logged on, just to see what those awesome high lvl monsters would look like. I took a basic magic outfit (priest robes, no kdding), a inventory of sharks and prayer potions, a magic potion and enough runes for 200 slayer dart spells, just in case I would decide to try to kill one once I had seen them. I entered the cave and was immediately astonished by their reflective cyan appearence, and the idea that these monsters could drop the long awaited dragon full helm gave me thrills. It was quit busy in the cavern and after waiting for 10 minutes I finally managed to get a hit on my first ever mithril dragon. As I was trying to figure out which prayer to use I was getting hit tremendously by this beautiful dragon I was shooting my powerful spells at. As the health bar of the mithril dragon was getting smaller, so was my inventory. Shark after shark dissappeared from my inventory, never before did I solo a monster so powerful, halfway there I wasn't sure if I could kill this dragon before I would be forced to teleport. Then finally I ran out of food but luckily simultaneously the dragon fell over, after a intense 2minute fight. Then the drop appeared and I saw a red coloured item beneath the pile of dragon bones. I was pretty excited and thought: "wowa cool they drop dragon medium helmets too, and I got it on my first mithril dragon ever, and only hours after they were released. Then I right clicked the pile and it said 'Take dragon full helm' I rubbed in my eyes to make sure I wasn't sleeping or anything, but I wasn't. Excited as I was I picked it up ASAP and without sharing my excitement with other dragon slayers in the caves I teleported out, before a new dragon would appear and probably kill me. I know this sounds impossible to believe me (especially cause I didn't even take a picture to proof it, as excited as I was) but I really got a dragon full helm, on my first ever mithril dragon kill, only a few hours after they were released. I heard that someone else had already gotten one as well and managed to sell it for 3 green party hats. Me being incredibly unlucky with any money-making method I tried thought my RS carreer was finally about to change. I raced to world 2 and made several posts on RSOF and other forums, telling my story and trying to sell my dfh for a nice bid as well. For 3 hours of intensively trying to get rid of my precious, clicking through hundreds of trade screens and forum posts, I surprising got no higher then 15,9M pure hard cash, which was much different then the 3 green party hats that were mentioned before. Then finally someone offered me 25,5M. Still an amount that was much smaller then I had hoped for, I sold it anyways cause I was afraid I had to sell it in the end for under 10M!. Then apparently my bad luck kicked back in, 30 minutes later Jagex announced to have removed the magic safe spots at the mithril dragons. People expected a massive decrease in the dragon full helm supply and suddenly were willing to pay much more for the new headdress. Still recounting my newly acquired wealth I saw prices for the dfh suddenly skyrocket, up to as much as 100mill. At the end of the day the price settled at around 82million gp. I felt 25.5m richer that day, but at the same time felt I had lost over 50mill on the very same day... --- Back on topic :D I don't think the dragon items give you as much as a thrill as they used to do in the old days, but still I wouldn't mind getting a chain, full helm, claws or lumps at all
  17. Can´t wait to find out about the AD awards ^^
  18. Probably about 5000 in my case but I'd rather not see it lol. Played for 5 years now on 3 different accounts, out of the 5000 hours I spent roughly 2000-3000 on my current account, which I have by now for about 2,5 years :)
  19. Very nice read, I however also believe merchanters played a major role in the price fluctuations of last week and not just the people who really just wanted 1 dragon platebody.
  20. It should be around time I guess, but I'd rather see existing skills being updated first
  21. Assuming I'm still 49 quests away from 270QP I've never been able to enjoy the marvelous drop rates at the Tormented Demon, so luckily I don't feel any direct effects from this update. I expect this will make the prices of the platebody/claw related items either way go back up or at least stabilize, making it still worth killing when I complete the quest in about, 2 years? (a)
  22. Please think again, in order to be able to wear the quest cape before the new master quest you also already needed the same requirements. It's only 1 more quest added but the requirements haven't changed much other than the fact you need 1 more quest and defeat the monster in the chaos tunnels.
  23. I may be greedy but I'd keep it in both situations. Finding something way over the $100 value is different, if I find someone's car keys and succeed in finding the car it works on too I'm definitely not going to take it off course, same story if I'd find $1000 on the floor in a spot where it's easy to find the respectful owner, in case this is a lot harder (in a football stadium) I'd probably keep it, but with double feeling. In RS I'm very greedy tbh as ingame luck (that's luck from killing NPC's for example) has never sided with me, when DK'ing or GWD'ing before the update I even hoped that at some point one or more of my team members died so I could loot their corpses to find a nice g spear, fury and probably ranger set/berserker ring (only with total strangers! I would not do it with any of my friends, even though in an ethical way that should make a difference). I know many arguments can easily be made to say the way I think is very unright, such as knowing how painful it is to be unlucky, why would I make someone feel the same "pain" by keeping their items if they lost it rather then returning it. But still this is the way I think and even though at some points I feel like returning something, I'm quiet sure that if anything of this would happen I'd keep it anyways.
