Zonorhc
Sounds iffy. It sounds like they only tried to disarm him once, and not very well at that. With two experienced officers, I fail to see how they couldn't beat the everliving crap out of the kid until he was unconscious and no longer a threat, rather than putting a bullet in him. What firearms do the police use in that area? If the kid was wounded with a 9mm, it's hard to believe that he didn't survive after first aid. If the weapon fired larger rounds, the police should have used any and all methods at their disposal before shooting. runesmithie
Btw, you guys think cops have all their equipment with them? They have a fully loaded squad car with all types of weapons? Too true... cops aren't your classic videogame character with a deadly arsenal shoved in their pants :) And like Lion said, not all police carry tasers, because believe it or not they have budgets like the rest of the world, especially in a smaller town like that. How2PK
So you're defending someone who threatened to kill some kid and had a knife? Uhm why not? Works along the same lines as the N word (undoubtedly censored) for black people. Not a nice thing to say at all. I don't really know what to say, gun/police issues in the UK are kinda rare (with the exception of the Charles de menzezez (sp?) issue) but unfortunetly on the rise especially in London. The policemen losing their jobs sets a dangerous precedent IMHO, if you make it so police lose their jobs for shooting somebody when alternative methods were available you run the risk of police never using firearms when they are the only option -we must remember these are often split second decisions which are different when viewed with hindsight. (apologies if that's disjointed, its late here  )
Achilleus
Why didt they use a taser gun...it will hit them with 95k volts...only for a second shouldnt kill someone like a gun would do?

Not every cop out there carrys a tazer, but regardless these cops made a bad decision and deserve to be fired (assuming it went down as said). ____
Well - they really didn't need a taser anyways. Peper spray should've done the job - so either they missed; are making BS up about using it; or the kid was wearing a full face mask which they failed to mention in the report. unknownmasterofnothing
I think the gun was the only option because most cops don't know martial arts. That would have been the best way to go. Since they can't press start and get a tranquilizer from their inventory.

meb
Tranquilzer darts/stun rounds, for instance. Instead of being dead, he could just wake up in a holding cell an hour later. Those things don't work instantly... If the kid threatened to kill a child, the cops are in their right to shoot him. I don't really believe the parents when they say he wasn't threatening the child any more. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. Biabf
Wow. I'm sorry for the loss. :( However, I see both points. I'm not too sure if the kid asked for it or the officers unjustly killed a kid. I really just don't know what to say.Well - considering the kid hadn't attempted to attack the officers - none of their lives were in immediate damage; shooting as an uncalled for action. Plenty of other options for those situations.Actually if you read the article further it says he was kicking the officers in the face and body. Hmmm.. I think the policers did make a good choice to shoot him but they should have aimed for his arm or leg so he wouldn't have died.
____
Actually if you read the article further it says he was kicking the officers in the face and body. I did - and if you read the link I posted just before - the police essentially put themself in that position; the kid didn't approach them kicking and punching. They essentially increased the danger level by completely screwing up and doing nothing right :uhh: @mEb: Read the link I posted before your post. flipflop121
mentally ill patient pulls a knife on a 6yr old. now think if they shot his arm and he still managed to kill the kid the cops would b up [cabbage] creek wouldnt they. this reminds me of a while back wen a man on an aeroplane said he had a bomb, ran off the plane and got shot in the head by the cops. if they body shot it he can still get the bomb to go off. wat im trying to say is, the guy assulted the kid, pulled a knife on him. a tranq gives u 5 seconds b4 it knocks u out, tazers arnt very accurate in that situation. the mentall ill patient is better out of harms way then potentially killing the kid and others just my opinion Started new account: flipflop v2
