SirHartlar
Wilcher, what is wrong with you? Is your friend list simply a place to store names of those who sell you items, or do you actually have friends? Being a good player (in my opinion) has NOTHING to do with your stats. To be honest, I really couldn't care less if my best RS mate couldn't take on another person in the wilderness. I care so much more that I know I can go KQing with him carrying the knowledge that if I die, he will pick up my stuff. Sure, kill the Kalphite Queen by yourself is more of an achievement and more profitable, but just knowing the fact there is someone on the other end of an internet connection you can trust is heart warming. MMORPG - Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playeing Game (I think. :P) I am not using this as a personal attack on you, I am just stating my point loud and clear. Japlin Chev
I think what makes a good player is being able to make friends and enjoy yourself but also knowing that there is life outside RuneScape. Here is the quote: screw manners, honor, trust, this isnt the real world and their are no judges, courts, or jails to hold me in. i follow the rules of runescape, and i live in the part of runescape where all rules are forgotten and i can rule by simply killing you. Ok you made a good point there about not using friends as a safety rope, I guess I misinterpeted what you were saying earlier. Independence is a good thing, but I think friends are what makes RuneScape such a popular game. I was just sharing my opinion on what makes a good player, obviously different people value different qualities as 'better'. I shouldn't have been so quick to criticise your views, I apologise. Gugge
In your eyes, how would you see somebody as a good player? I was wondering, because there is a 'who is the best tip.iter' thread, and everyone has similar views (roughly) on that post. So to you, what makes a good player? Is it combat levels? Skill total? popularity? rares? quest points? Nothing of what you listed in my opinion. To me a good player is - someone with good knowledge about the game. This may mean high skills and/or high quest points and/or high combat level, but doesnt have to. It may as well be someone who spend a lot of time on forums, or helping to update fan sites, or helping other players may it be friends or strangers. To me, good knowledge about the game is the most important to be considered a good player. - someone who play the way they enjoy it. To me a good player do things the most enjoyable way (enjoyable in their own personal opinion), while they DO know the most efficient way to level that skill. To me the most efficient players are not necessarily the same players as the good players, the good players may be way down the hiscore lists..... and as menitoned above, playing by the rules of course. - and last but not least: someone who is there for their friends when they need them. Please think before you ask a question. If you ask the right question, its much more likely you get the answer you are looking for :)
Tsar
A good player in my eyes is someone who, generally speaking:... >> Is self-efficient to a certain extent (up to a maximum of 99 in all stats ofcourse, but the medium starts at lets say 50-60), also has advanced knowledge of the game, not having to ask directions every 10 seconds or so. >> Socializes well with players and can leave a positive image of themself whereever they go, but doesn't add another person to their friendlist as easily as the new players do, for a full list usually means zero privacy and can be very tiresome having to reply to every one of the 200 friends. >> Doesnt climb into verbal fights, when it isn't directly interfering with their own life; if a good friend is involved in that fight, doesn't overreact while trying to defend their buddy. >> Helps when he/she feels like its directly necessary, otherwise leaves a bit of advice. No point being a saint when everyone else around you are devils. >> Doesn't whine and cry continuously about how something went wrong, aka 'I got killed today, boohoo' but feels it is just a part of the game and moves on, trying to learn from the mistakes done. spikerkid
Who ever doesn't scam is a good player in my opinion. If someone died with all there stuff and you gave it back I could consider you a good player. Doesn't matter about levels or how rich you are. If your willing to be nice and know this is only a game than your better than good. Quit RuneScape :)
One Too Far
In your eyes, how would you see somebody as a good player? I was wondering, because there is a 'who is the best tip.iter' thread, and everyone has similar views (roughly) on that post. So to you, what makes a good player? Is it combat levels? Skill total? popularity? rares? quest points? none of those, that is to see how deticated you are or how many people you get to like you for different reasons. A good player is a player that helps others when they need it and just in total is not a jerk, this can be very many people, though to my disapointment in runescape its not very many people. the only place i think this does not go, is in the wildernis. No rules baby just kil everything wich bothers you there, the presure valve of rs. Someone who doesn't pk/stake/merchant. and why is that? pking is just fine if people dont whine, staking is not bad either and merchanting wel i could see your point there but its not bad i do it myself to =p. we just take smal amounts of stuf and make it a hughe pile and sell it to people making 2 people happy (the seller and the buyer because of quiknes) and me or the other way around buying much and selling to small buyers who wouldn't get because many people dont sell smal amounts. ( btw i got a eye on a very fast way of money making wich i aint gonna tel =p it would ruin it, yep if i merchant i get al bad)

Voldmort0
I'd balance Combat with Total lvl and Wealth. Depending on what the person does, I'd take the capacity and skill of that person to do what he does the most into count too. Muscular_Ape
Good players can be good in alot of different ways. I think the main thing is being experienced and helpful. I'm not saying LOL99ALL, but have some experience with the game, decent stats, a few years of playing and to top it all off; being a generally nice person and helping others when they can. I'd like to think I do my best to be a good player :P

Robot919
In my mind, a good player -respects other people -tries to help other people if they ask for it -has respectable stats -doesn't complain and spam a lot -doesn't act like a noob and annoy everyone -is a team player in mini-games
Triquos
trustworthy loyal respectful popular skills - depending on what they are (e.g. runecraft, takes lots of determination, agility takes lots of effort etc. etc.) courage honour those are what i think makes a gr8 person the best player i think in rs is cyrano74 (no not because of his/her skills) he/she helped me in wildy by giving me food after escaping from a dds guy wanting my food at wildy agility course from another world. he/she didn't have to and could have killed me to get rid of me (pkers usually love killing people with nothing on  ) but cyrano didn't do that, and gave me food which was really nice of him/her.
