Im fairly disturbed by this... Most people would find this unthinkable...

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- Five fifth-grade students face criminal charges after authorities said four of them had sex in front of other students in an unsupervised classroom and kept a classmate posted as a lookout for teachers.

 

 

 

The students were arrested Tuesday at the Spearsville school in rural north Louisiana, authorities said. Two 11-year-old girls, a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year old boy were charged with obscenity, a felony. An 11-year-old boy, the alleged lookout, was charged with being an accessory.

 

 

 

"After 44 years of doing this work, nothing shocks me anymore," said Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley. "But this comes pretty close."

 

 

 

Authorities said the incident happened March 27 at the school, which houses students from kindergarten through 12th grade. A high school teacher normally watches the fifth-grade class at the time, but went to an assembly for older students and the class was inadvertently left unattended, Buckley said.

 

 

 

The class, which had around 10 other students, was alone for about 15 minutes, he said.

 

 

 

"When no teacher showed up, the four began to have sex in the classroom with the other elementary students in the classroom with them," he said.

 

 

 

It took a day for authorities to find out about the incident. A student who had been in the class told a high school student about it the next day, Buckley said. The student told a teacher, and school officials notified the sheriff's office. Detectives began questioning students Thursday.

 

 

 

School officials did not return calls seeking comment.

 

 

 

The students, who were not identified because of their age, were released to their parents after their arrests, Buckley said. They will next be arraigned in juvenile court.

 

 

 

A message seeking comment from the district attorney was not immediately returned.

 

 

 

Buckley said it was unclear what penalties the children could face.

Indianapolis - For months it's been a well-kept secret. But now Warren Township Schools confirm a disturbing case of sex in the classroom. The illicit activity has parents concerned and a district at a loss for words.

 

 

 

Shop class gives students a chance to learn outside of the book. But at Warren Township's Raymond Park Middle School, two students engaged in illicit acts in view of goggled eyes.

 

 

 

13 Investigates was tipped off by a disturbed resident who writes:

 

 

 

"...during school hours in a classroom with an experienced teacher present, two sixth graders completed the act of intercourse...at least ten students were witnesses. No disciplinary actions were taken against the teacher... All teachers were told to keep quiet."

 

 

 

Middle school students having sex in a busy classroom while a teacher is present? Warren Township Associate Superintendent Jeff Swensson confirmed it's true. It's been kept under wraps since November.

 

 

 

The principal at Raymond Park Middle School would not speak to us about the incident or parents concerns. The superintendent in charge of middle schools in the district also backed out of an on-camera interview and instead provided a three-sentence statement:

 

 

 

"Two students were involved in inappropriate conduct in a lab class last semester. We have investigated the matter and taken appropriate action. The school corporation considers the matter closed and will have no further comment."

 

 

 

Associate Superintendent Jeff Swensson told Eyewitness News off camera the teacher didn't know what was going on because another student acted as a "look-out." But once the teacher discovered the behavior, immediate action was taken. Swensson says the students involved were recommended for expulsion. But he did not say whether the board followed that recommendation.

 

 

 

Warren Township School Police were not aware of the incident and say no report was made even though the children were recommended for expulsion.

 

 

 

We sought comment from all seven Warren Township School Board Members about how this case was handled. No one was available to speak with us.

but still... i'm honestly not suprised by this. I know of plenty of people who had sex at that age. not while at school though ... but yea.. 11-13yo's going at it, not new.

I'm not surprised about the ages at all, kids are having sex a lot earlier these days. The only thing about the story that really shocked me was that the classroom wasn't even empty. :-s

I had sex when 13, not proud of it, but in front of the class, with an 11 year old? Smegging hell.

That means the 13 year old boy failed 3 times or atleast 2. Usually those are the trouble makers..

I'm not all that surprised, to be honest. It's been done before and will in the future. The only thing wierd about it is that they decided to do it in class, in front of all of the other kids. I'm wondering if it was planned or spontaneous...

In my own opinion, however, there's also a serious case of child abuse here. Not necessarily by an adult, but these kids subjected that entire classroom to a scene which could potentially cause some psychological scarring.

 

 

 

I disagree with pressing criminal charges, though. Let the school, their peers, their parents, and their peers' parents give them the hell they deserve.

I actually laughed at that for a bit Zonorhc, you nailed it.

 

 

 

Any punishment a court gives them will never touch the kind of hell that will most likely come from their peers and parents from a long, long time.

I read this on the WoW OT a bit back. Of course, the smartest thing said in that thread was "How did it start? I mean, did one kid just yell out lets have sex!"" while another poster decided to say "I wonder what all the other kids were doing?"

 

 

 

 

 

It's a pretty messed up story though.

It's the teacherÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s fault for leaving a classroom unsupervised for 15 minutes... and how come the lookout gets in trouble lol this story made me laugh.

 

 

 

And as I gather it were 2 on 2.. And the other children were not forced to stay in the classroom and watch them having sex...they could have just left. :-s Unless they wanted to watch them...which makes them as bad as the lookout kid and in need of being charged.
