Raw and Cooked Shark Price Drop?

ImpulsiveJet

Recommended Posts

I have noticed recently in World 2 and in Edgville Banks in crowded worlds that Sharks are going for around 675 ea. Now I just noticed this recently but I thought it was only a few weeks ago they were still around 900 ea? This might have happened over time without me noticing but does anyone have an explanation for this drop?

But with Skill Cape Hunters wouldn't you think they'd raise a little for players wanting easy skills like Cooking and Fletching. Yet there are many, many, many Level 3 Yew Woodcutters in F2P worlds and Yew log prices have raised 10 gp ea recently. Any thoughts on that?

Supply and demand. Many fletchers want yew logs, and each player, to get to 99 from 70, needs an average of 81,000 (with stringing).

i believe that last weeks article covers this topic fairly well, the fact that macros are in the game, so many of them!!!, also plays an important role in the low price....

id really like to see some charts and graphs of the "key" items in the economy, namely BS, nats, sharks, lobs, yews, willows, and other raw materials and their recent price drop, or gain.

I have also been thinking of ways to remove massive amounts of money from the economy. Ways like a J mod, creating phat sets secretly, and selling them. The economy wont notice a 10 or so more sets in the economy, and at the same time, the economy is being drained something like 10 billion gp. The J mod would delete the account, along with the money, thus removing a massive amount of money...

^many people will dissagree with this because of the fact that rares should not be created. This is also only an idea to remove money from the game.

Meh, being an avid pker, kqer, and just using alot of sharks i dont mind the price drop.

But I would blame the price drop is the fact that once people hit 94 cooking, they basically buy sharks to 99. After cooking, they have to sell the sharks, and with thousands of people doing it, thats a HUGE influx of sharks getting shoved into the economy.

This should sum it up very simply. About one month ago there was a mass ban on many many green dragon autoers. Since those were banned, those people now have to auto a different way to try and get even close that amount of money. Since there is no easy replacement skill in terms of autoing for this they needed to take up something close in a similar value. This would be sharks when they were at 1K each.

However, a month ago there weren't near as many autofishers. Thus, it was halfway decent money I'd suppose if a person had about 2 autofishers on at the same time due to ways I'm not going to discuss on the same computer.

The new autofishers had to level up fishing some, which took a bit of time to train up even with autofishing. Combine that with a lot of merchants trying to make a quick buck with buying cheaper sharks, and you get why it was so long before the shark prices started dropping down. Since, autofishers are making less money...the chances are that eventually they'll realize what bad money that's becoming, and then some of them will start up on autowoodcutting...Granted that's a pretty lame idea, but if they were to use a few tellies or magic trees from construction...I guess it could be pulled off.

All in all this should shed some enlightenment about how many autoers there actually are on RS. The people that used to pk the green dragon autoers of course already knew that though

I quickly got myself to 99 cooking just as they dropped. I ended up making a profit buying raw sharks at 600 each, and selling cooked sharks at 650.

Key items to the economy are.. pretty much nature runes. Nature runes have the power to high alchemy. You can fletch 81.000 yew longs to lvl 99 fletching. But that is an expensive joke. If nature rune prices sky rocket to 400ea.. Then all of the sudden, fletching will not be so popular anymore. Same goes for crafting D hides. Also, sharks and lobsters are very important. And so is the Pure Essence market. I still do not know why there aren't any runecrafting-bots out there yet?! I mean, there is a lot more money in nature runes then there is in sharks. Or blue d hides. And nature rune prices do not change that much, because of the high alchemy prices. So those prices will hardly go down! O darn it! shouldn't have said that

<.<

nature rune autoers :ohnoes: Unless they use the abys .. then I <3: them, free glorys.

chaos rune autoers \' About to be pked..

i know people will think this is a bad idea but it will raise prices, there should be a limit for how many resources a character or IP can gain daily that would stop the autoers getting so many wouldnt it?

Take a look at fishing guild that would sum it up for you. As for people complaining about more people getting 99 cooking now. Does it really matter, people want skill capes and they see 99 cooking as an easy one, doesn't mean you need to put them down.

With the new "monkey" safe macroing program released 3 days ago I can only see this going one way..

I curse JageX everyday for not taking macroing more seriously.

Good, shark fishing is awful moneymaking and xp anyway. I may just get 99 cooking one of these days.
