Nazgul740
raw sharks are going for 500 each and the reason is 2 things... 1. autoers 2. pkers aren't making as much moola from kills as they used to... New sigzor^^
Happysniff
Great. I fished 1.5k sharks before this price drop then I became f2p. Nice going autoers, i hpe you rot and die. I can explain why pkers and making as much money: Over time Jagex have been releasing more and more untradable items that are good for pking such as barrel chested anchor neitznot helm and fighter torso. Many people now wear these and if they die, the person who killed them doesn't get their items.
TeeBeaun
I was catching sharks a few days ago and there were tons of very low levels in tut. island clothes all catching sharks. It was a sea of level 7-20's, it is annoying because I would like to be able to sell my cooked sharks at a reasonable price, so I just never sell them anymore, very annoying. haqiang
i think the introduction of monk fish has something to do with drop of shark. Here is what i think. Shark until monk was probably food people just use for pk or training on some monster that does decent damage that common food like lob just isnt going to cover the damage. Lob until monk was probably the training food, everyone uses it to train cooking and combat. With monk fish being introduced as a cheap price of 300 gp each and 16 heal, why would u want shark other than pk? -you barrow with sara brew, - you DK with sara brew, - you train on fire giant or slayer task using monk fish - if u train on low levle monster lobs are cheap enough with no need for shark for anything, demand drop and as increasing amount of autoer its inevitable that shark price will drop. jin_sakura226
yeah cuz there is a constant useage of sharks and a lot of pkers/players who do burrow or quest constantly buys them.. Well since a lot of people are going for 99 cooking the raw sellers sell them cheap and well when they get it cooked they are trying to get rid of it fast and so they lowered their prices.. Me on the other hand pretty darn mad about the lowering of the prices -_-..but i m glad i been making a good profit when they were 900gp each. Oh yeah sellers i think u guys should sell higher.. since it's a very demanded product. We control the market really and i m still selling at 700gp+ to 800gp sometimes 1k for small amounts =) wanna play ??^_^ total=1650+ =)time pass by so fast -_-

britonlongbow
I'm pretty sure the reason that they have dropped so drastically over the last week or so is the " Orca leak " everyone was gearing up to catch orcas so they started selling all of their sharks. Supply and demand says there will be extra sharks. And more people selling than people buying means they have to lower prices for someone who might not have bought them to buy them Plus autoers do have something to do with it

Dazzuh
i believe that last weeks article covers this topic fairly well, the fact that macros are in the game, so many of them!!!, also plays an important role in the low price.... id really like to see some charts and graphs of the "key" items in the economy, namely BS, nats, sharks, lobs, yews, willows, and other raw materials and their recent price drop, or gain. I have also been thinking of ways to remove massive amounts of money from the economy. Ways like a J mod, creating phat sets secretly, and selling them. The economy wont notice a 10 or so more sets in the economy, and at the same time, the economy is being drained something like 10 billion gp. The J mod would delete the account, along with the money, thus removing a massive amount of money... ^many people will dissagree with this because of the fact that rares should not be created. This is also only an idea to remove money from the game. Key items to the economy are.. pretty much nature runes. Nature runes have the power to high alchemy. You can fletch 81.000 yew longs to lvl 99 fletching. But that is an expensive joke. If nature rune prices sky rocket to 400ea.. Then all of the sudden, fletching will not be so popular anymore. Same goes for crafting D hides. Also, sharks and lobsters are very important. And so is the Pure Essence market. I still do not know why there aren't any runecrafting-bots out there yet?! I mean, there is a lot more money in nature runes then there is in sharks. Or blue d hides. And nature rune prices do not change that much, because of the high alchemy prices. So those prices will hardly go down! O darn it! shouldn't have said that nature rune autoers :ohnoes: Unless they use the abys .. then I them, free glorys. chaos rune autoers \ About to be pked.. Much more complicated to make seeing as you spawn at random places in the abyss and they will need to constantly buy glory amulets charged because i don't see any of them doing Heroes quest. TheEvilGizm0
I bought 9k sharks at 800 each, cook them, go on a 10 day vacation, comes back and realizes cooked sharks are 600 each and I just lost 200 gp per sharks I bought. If I could sell them that is. Freaking impossible because everyone is selling They finally got it right.

Huzzah
This was prob the biggest pain in my behind in awhile. Ever since I came back from a year off last summer I decided I wanted to get from 76-99 fishing ONLY sharks. You can imagine how slow this was so I of course took breaks, even had a few months where I was barly on due to irl stuff. Get part way through to 98 only to realise sharks are 500gp each. So I've turned to the dark side, gave up my goal and started fishing monks. Simply not worth it to fish sharks currently.
aznmidget448
Yeah, now the autoers spread to the sharks. malo2
But with Skill Cape Hunters wouldn't you think they'd raise a little for players wanting easy skills like Cooking and Fletching. Yet there are many, many, many Level 3 Yew Woodcutters in F2P worlds and Yew log prices have raised 10 gp ea recently. Any thoughts on that?thats exactly why they're dropping, since when can you get xp with cooked sharks? everybody just buys out all of the raw sharks and cooks them, so then theres a bunch of cooked sharks left that nobody wants. xvillexvalox
Im surprised this happened... I now have more sharks than monkfish. I used to use monks for training, and I bought 500 of them for 600 each a week or two they came out, now I am down to 50 monkfish, and I bought 150 sharks for barrows for only 650 ea yesterday \ (Then I got a dharok's axe) \
