Hey guys,

Dont you find it annoying that some people get more gratitude than others? I mean footballer get paids millions a month, and they are practically never off the tv, where as some people work hard, or die for their country, and they may probably be on the tv for about 30 seconds.

Example: Ronaldo is on the tv at LEAST once everyday, where as there are people in iraq fighting for their country, and they are hardly ever on the tv, and they get no recognition. I mean it really pi**es me off

Anyway, do you feel the same?

The only reason football players are advertised as they are is because of the profits it can bring in. The people owning these teams are even richer than the players.

Believe me, if the government could make money filming those who work hard, they would do it.

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Exactly what I wanted to say.

It doesn't really bother me to be honest, if you're fighting for your country I hope you aren't doing it to 'get famous'.

No i dont mean they should be doing it to get famous, but i think that it would only be right if people who are doing great things get more praise than people who get to play football in front of thousands of people, and get abgs of money for it, not uncluding the glamour.

Just because they are seen more doesn't mean they are respected more.

Ask any general person who they respect more, a football player or someone over in iraq right now. I would be willing to bet a lot of people (not kids mind you) would say the later.

I dont mean that i think they should i was just using that as an example. there are other things such as peoiple wroking long hours on the road (lorry driving) for not so good wages, without any recognition, where football players are mainly aragont and they always get what they want, and people still see them as heroes.

anwser this:

why do football players get plaid 10x a teachers sallary. when the footballers job requires skill...

and a teachers requires patience, love, intellegence, etc?

Ya, even though every teacher makes that, and only a select few elite football players make anything close to that.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

I'd like to see a football player last 1 week in a class full of 1st graders without anyone to help him. And people say teaching is easy

I'm sure they'd fare much better than a teacher taking a hit from a 250 lb linebacker :P

Not as hard as being a soldier in Iraq...

But anyway, just because a sports player is on television more than a soldier in Iraq, doesn't mean the soldier is less respected. Though I love sports, I still have more respect for one who is willing to put his life on the line for his country (though in terms of this war, that is a very blurry statement).

I'd like to see a football player teaching 7th grade students algebra 1/2 (if they knew it them selves.

heck, even trying to read an 8th grade class any kind of novel.... cyrano de bergerac please?

"ummm he's a guy with a long nose"

"no duh"

I'd like to see a foot ball player read a story with depth.

Wow you two are so dumb. You can't even make that comparison. Ken, they get paid "10x a teachers sallary" because only a select few (VERY few) can play professional sports, as Reb already kind of said. However, there are a lot of people who can teach and there are some now who don't have any of those qualities you just mentioned, granted they are bad teachers.

Photo, using your horrible logic, I would like to see a teacher play any professional sport. Exactly, they couldn't do it.

This is a horrible topic. I think that if someone who wasn't so ignorant made a topic similar to this like "Should professional athletes get paid as much as they do," it would be somewhat interesting.

EDIT:

I'd stuff

Isn't that pretty much what you already said? Once again, what a stupid post. It's not like all athletes are idiots. In fact, I would say a fair amount of them are actually quite intelligent. In order to play sports in school, you have to be able maintain a certain grade point average, which is often low, but I know a lot of athletes who maintain great grades a long with being able to keep up in their sport. Maybe where you live they don't. Or maybe you're still in middle school still and you wouldn't realize this yet, which is probably the case.

Not as hard as being a soldier in Iraq...

It's easier to be a solider, just more risky.

Movie stars like Johnny Depp get like 15 million a movie. Pro sports players may get 30 million in a year. You can film upwards of 3 movies in a year.

You're right that it is more risky, but I still think it's harder. Being a pro football player is extremely difficult, no doubt, for the drills, strategizing, dieting (for good physical and mental health), is tough. Even other stuff, like interviews, confrences, etc. can get pretty trying.

But a soldier must do such a wide array of things. They have to learn to do well in a gunfight, strategize in the midst of a battle, learn procedures for healing injuries (both minor and fatal), learn how not to reveal information during a torturing, all while lugging aroudn some very heavy equipment.

I suppose in the end this thread is just rather wierd, because these two jobs (as well as pro sports athlete and teacher), are just so different that comparing them is borderline stupid.

Why do people in this thread seem to think pro sports athletes are in relative abundance to other professions?

OT: Well, what thread did you expect from this guy. All I'm gonna say is this: Cry me a smegging river, Justin, and work hard enough for people to give you gratitude
