insane
For all I know everybody kid of grows up with it here. It's not like you feed a 8 year old kid drunk. But you give him a sip or something because they're curious. And when they're a bit older 12/13, they get a glass of beer or something on a special ocasion. And everybody basically starts going out at to caf̮̩̉̉s at the age of 14/15 (in my surroundings at least), and there they drink, beer, or way too sweet (not as in tasting good, but tasting sweet/sugary) liquor. I don't think it done me much harm. Maybe (well, make that deffinitely) a bit of a beer belly, but I'll get over that. I drink every day by the way. Not drunk though, one or two a day. Oh, and I don't drink to get drunk. It tastes good. Contrary to popular belief, a beer belly isn't caused by beer. All it does is make us more susceptible to eat bad food like pizza, macdonalds or whatever. Haha, c'mon all you drinkers, you know it's the truth. God knows I don't think about salad with a six pack under my belt. :P Isn't there alot of carbohydrates in beer?
darksonic45
My parents are against cigaretes, drugs, alcohol. Problem is, my brother is doing 2 of the 3. Now I'm not a tattletell, but something as serious as this should be told... Only thing, if I told my parents it probably break their hearts seeing as they like him more then. (Back on topic) I, myself, have never taken a sip of alcohol. Peer pressure ftl :shame:
LeonardMart
i am ok with it, as long as you do it for yourself, not to "feel cool" or "be mature". i am 15 and i drink myself occasionally, and i must say that i have never barfed because of being drunk and my hangovers are just light and short-lived :P most of my fiends drink with me, some of them are alcohol-phobic, my parents are alcohol's #1 enemies, my sister loves beer, my grandpa forces me to drink beer, etc. by the way, last time i tried to kiss a hot girl being drunk, but she threw me to the floor  Click my main sig to see my fakes :D Proud to be Mexican, yay! Rebdragon
I don't approve of underage drinking, but I see no harm in drinking responsibly with the presence of adults. When kids go out purposely to get drunk and abuse alcohol, it makes me feel sad to think that at 14 years old you can't entertain yourself in any other way. The age limits are there for a reason, regardless of whether you think they are too young or old. Age limits aren't doing much to help. Here in the US, 19 year old drunk idiots are still the leading cause of car accidents, even though the legal drinking age is 21. As has been said, parents should slowly introduce their kids to alcohol, probably just by having wine with them on occasion. I mean, who's a better person to share a first drinking experience with to get to know how to properlly drink and when to stop- one's parents [at home], or their friends [at a party]? I want to drink in college, but I'm too much of a goodie tooshoos (sp?) to do something illegal like that -.- . The Dark Lord
I believe getting drunk is irresponsible as well as breaking any law that forbids it. True, the 21 age limit is [developmentally delayed]ed because why not 18? You can smoke or use any other tobacco products at 18. What is different about consuming alcoholic beverages? If I were to drink, it would be wine. I would drink it in moderation and drink very little amounts at a time to preserve it for a long time. As for beer, whiskey, and other liquors, I believe they are degrading. In my opinion it shows no pride for your body and red wine is even healthy for the heart. jackalope14
My parents intentionally let me drink a sip of beer when I was young because they knew I would hate it. And I did, and still do hate the taste. But with my brother their little strategy back fired because when they gave him a sip when he was young he loved it. Now he tries to get a sip of their beer whenever they have it. Good job parents.
insane
But wouldn't the amount of alcohol you drink and how often you drink play big roles in that too? Usually studies give you general results. Obviously other things play into it, but generally speaking, the earlier you start, the more problems you'll have.
fakeitormakeit
I'm agaisnt underage drinking unless you take like a finger of wine and then dilute it in 7UP or just take alittle sip or something but I am totally agaisnt when people start getting drunk and they are like 14. Echofish
We always have a bottle of Lambrini or Martini in the fridge or laying around. Every now and then, I get take a sip after dinner if my dad says I can O:) I don't drink to the point I get drunk. I'm only 14 and I'm pretty sure I've passed the legal limit once. No_OnE
I'm against it but I'm against alcohol all together. I wish nobody would drink. But then, alcohol has caused my family too much grief so I have a reason to hate it.
SanFranciscoGiants
I unfortunatly know how it is... You're not the only one, my dearest pappy has put me off drinking forever. soldier_side
my stance: I don`t really condone it but I`m not going to stop my friends from doing it.. I just yell at them and call them stupid, as much of a hypocrite that makes me. I used to get drunk.. during school. really a stupid move, but I didn`t get caught. that still doesn`t mean that it was okay though. my ex bf (someone who I still care about dearly) also cheated on me while drunk and most of the time when I think about people drinking I remember how I felt. -.- my friends: they don`t care.. it`s usually seen as okay around here. parents: let me drink sometimes, but if they knew about how many times I have or that I`ve done it with friends, they`d kill me. ..then again I`m 18 years old. I`m not sure about what the age range for most people is on here. I also live in the usa, so the 21 year old drinking age applies to me.

Lovelydude
When I was 18 I used to go out and get blind drunk. I used it to escape my problems because I didn't want to deal with my best friends death. I now can only sink a couple and then switch to soft drink. Tonight is an exception it's my 21st :P You have a valid point warrior, some people will learn from their mistakes, others wont. Some kids don't consider stupid things they do while under the influence mistakes. D:
warri0r45
Last time I saw some actual studies on underage drinking - which was in relation to a seminar when I first started at uni - they mentioned a considerably increased set of risks assosciated with how early you start drinking. For every year of age you subtract from when you start drinking, the risk of future health problems, including alcoholism, is increased. Supervised or unsupervised drinking. :P You ever figured out how many burgers a beer equals in terms of carbonhydrates? They've been showing the comparison on TV around here and it's kind of frightening. Fair cop, I'm probably wrong there. I'd happily take a look at figures you have them as I don't think I've ever seen nutritional information on the side of a beer. :P #-o

Nero
A little drinking on the weekend isn't a big deal for me. As long as you don't do stupid stuff that gets you in trouble (with either your parents or the cops) it's fine imo. + I live in Canada, pretty much every underage person drinks Vienna Raszyn Warsaw Klushino

kido14
I think a lot of people who are saying "underage drinking is okay as long as you are responsible" are just naive. They think they can handle it when in reality they often times probably can't. I mean I'm no expert on alcohol and I've never been drunk, but I'm sure a lot of people can't really help doing dumb things when they're drunk. Granted, people do stupid things on alcohol but people I hang out with are, for the most part, responsible. You learn to realise drinking because you enjoy the drinks and to socialise while concious is more fun than drinking to get hammered beyond belief. It's not exactly like other drugs where there is a definate one-size-fits-all result. In other words, not everyone downs half a carton and feels the urge to go pee in a cop car or jump of a roof or whatever. Even when drunk, most people I know of realise that's a total party ruiner. magekillr
agreed warrior. i usually drink to socialize...with a few exceptions the exceptions were my first time when i didn't know my limits AND it was graduation. the other times were after a long test week (like 3-4 tests in 1 week) and i just needed to relieve some stress. and the final time was the end of freshmen year. every other time i just drank to socialize...and 8 times out of 10 i was taking everyone home lol.
