the older you are the better?

Featured Replies

Well over the years that ive been playing games on the computer and xboxlive i have had much experience at playing against other people. I have noticed most of the time the older ones are the better ones, it seems like this is also true in RS. My guess is the older you are the longer attention span you have. So i'm just wondering what your guys opinions on this is?

well yes the longer attention span u have, but more of a life u have, little kids who play this normally have no life if they are quite a high lvl noramlly

because they understand work=success, little kids get everything given to them but older ones need to work for what they want, it show in games(begging)

jking jking. as he did hit the nail on the head, adults know the gameplay a lot faster, and they're more educated.

Couldn't have said it better my self. And believe me. I just sat here for 7 minutes, trying to make an example or something for it.

I think most of you are overgeneralizing. When it comes to runescape, your status depends on how much time you have. Most kids have more time to level than adults do. I could go on but this article addresses your exact question specifically and refutes a lot of common arguments explaining why kids in rs aren't that bad.

I say the older the better but not all the time.

But you can say that for about 80% of the time...For Runescape that is.

As you said...In xbox live pretty much 85% of the community is an [wagon] lol.

"Older" is always relative. However, maturity is a constant. The fact that older players tend to be more mature surely helps most, but undoubtedly even a young RSer can meet the match of the oldest.

Other issues come into play of course: game time being one. (Which is relative during summer, but consider bed times are no issue for those out of HS... with no real jobs...)

The biggest reason that older players do better is that they're simply smarter. Or better yet, WISER. Experience in any game (including life) cannot be bought or cheated. It has to be earned.

'Nuff said. :-w

RSN: Greedom1 | QP 248+ | Combat 116 | Total 1920+ | Skills 95 craft, 99 farm, 88 herb, 91 mage, 85 slayer

Values? What do they mean?

yeah right. you force me 1 hour with a 7 year old who plays 24/7 or 1 hour with a 35 year old that plays 1-2 hours a day. im not much of a statistic man but i know a good percentage of them are ignoring the lil kiddie here. time controls the status on the highscores maybe, but barley with the population.

i enjoy older peope (16+) the older they get, the more civilized they become. its easyer to understand them most of the time too, considering they havent been warped by the current education system (i have been obviously) but i really dont like to talk to people that use the typing language i have to decipher. idk why but older people are less egotistical on runescape too, always helping and whatnot. they are more organized in my opinion and it seems and older person will use there time alot more productivly then a younger runescape player would. i dont think the skills are they hard to figure out, but older people can just plan, multi task, think, and work better honestly.

just me.

Its the opposite for me now the longer i play the less fun it is...

Just an average player with a horrible name...

Obviously

1. you have more free time

2. you're smarter, and can apply yourself more

adults have more free time then kids?

Its probebly more free time than attention span. When you are 12 and 13 im sure you have a parent or someone yelling at you to get off the computer and do homework/go play outside/etc. when you get older, more free will and more choice in ones life = do what they want. so older people have more time to play runescape.

The vast majority of adults, even though they're not being yelled at like kids are to get off rs, actually have things in life called responsibilities. To suggest that adults have more time for runescape than their children do is ridiculous. Adults have full time jobs, and when they're not working, they're taking care of their kids. The only people who have this excess of time you're talking about are people 18-24 who haven't really solidified a family or anything yet.

The bottom line though is that kids are the ones with the hours and hours of free time. Kids mostly are the ones who get the high levels. And high levels are incorrectly correlated with maturity/age. People then assume all high levels to be intelligent, and when they're not, they get frustrated and then make some rant about how bad the community is. Sure, a lot of adults have high levels too, but most adults are online a lot less so they have to manage their time on rs a lot more efficiently.

Well the saying is maturity comes with age, so most the time yes, the higher level'd players ( Combat and Skill) are usually older, but sometimes that isn't the case.

not to mention adults generally have quicker reflexes...The only differences is older players may have other things going on for them compared to younger players who can spend all day on runescape.

Yes of course the older you get the better you can organize which means that older people (16+) though they have less time can organize what they do so they make the most of it.The younger ones (11 and below) who have more time don't need to organize. (even if they could) However for those who are in between (me) we can play for hours on end and we have the inteligence to organize ourselves while making the best of the long amounts of time we have on the computer. \'
