GrimHams
A question that has been through my mind lately is: do you like being good at runescape? at first it seems like an obvious answer "yeah of course, if im good at rs i enjoy it more", but i'm wondering if people (who are rich) enjoy the game as much considering they can just buy anything they want. Runescape used to be a very "olden day" like game for me, where i'd work up my money killing zombies or whatever for some cash to spend on a new sword, but as you gain the ranks you start to realise that runescape isn't an "olden day" game. People buy loads of herbs for herblore, they buy fletching levels and no one seems to be sitting in a field making bread anymore which is what personally i think of when i think of runescape. Do you miss the old days when you started? do any of you want to make new account so you can capture the "magic" of being a newbie. Many would say that "magic" has gone as you know all the best ways of training, others may have made new accounts simply to "get back to basics" and play rs in a less money driven way. Comments. (i dont think this is the wrong forum but if i am wrong i'd be happy for it to be moved).
Skully
I like to be rich! Good to be able to spend money and have everything you desire
TeeBeaun
It is an interesting idea, but efficiency has taken over the game where as the best and most efficient ways to training are always used and even exploited to gain faster levels. Everyone wants the most for the least, the most amount of xp for the least amount of work.

Alex2828
I started in 2003 and back then it was (in my opinion) the peak best tiem of the game. I love the days. I thought my friend was the best cause he bought me a black long. Little things like that have dissapeared, as in a black long isn't considered a nice deed anymore, just junk. I've quit (or stopped playing) a few times, but i just returned this week (after a 7 month 'break'). I find the game just as addicitng as before but in such a different away. Before i would explore and find new things, and now that is what i am doing (catching up on what i have missed out on lately). But i feel if it wasn't for my friends playing, I wouldn't either. I've sort of drifted from the topic :P. but yes. I like being good at runescape, but there will always someone (or many people) who will be much better then me and when I first started playing I never looked at the game like that. Currently: Quit Ages Ago
Eccentric
I like being good, but not at the expense of fun. I'm stubborn, so I'm willing to pour extra time into doing things my way. I collect up all the herbs I use to level herblore, and all the secondary ingredients. I haven't spent a single gold on the road to 70 prayer (though there were more than a few chicken massacres XD). I used to cut a load of yews and burn them in front of all the dedicated wcers trying to earn some cash (I found it incredibly amusing); I still find it pretty amusing, but I like burning pyres now because I can train a myriad of skills while making a bit of money. I have to admit, I do like piles of money. Which is why I love MTK so much, I do basically nothing and make piles of money, freeing up my time to do other things. And let's be practical here, if I find a skill to be devastatingly boring I'm going to try and raise it the most efficient way possible without spending tons of money; I'm a bit of a miser, so I really dislike spending money on skills, or anything really, I like my piles. :P I don't think that ruins the game, or the mystique of the game. I think what ruins the game is when people forget how to have fun. When it becomes just about the next level or the next million gold, that's what kills it; if people genuinely having fun skilling constantly or merchanting constantly, more power to 'em. I know I don't. I pretty sure there are a lot of people who don't. It's something people have to figure out for themselves though. The reason why Runescape has been so successful and has endured so long is that it offers a lot of different experiences; there are a lot of different things to do, alone and with friends. It's really up to each person to decide how they want to play the game, what makes it fun for them.
Smithy93
I'm not there at being "Supreme" good on my main. I'm level 75. I still have a long way to go, but I do consider myself good. I tremble before people above me though, full dragon and 1000 tril and all that. http://hiscore.runescape.com/index_lite ... r=Smithy93
Bobbington
It's an intersting question actually..... Personally I would liek to be rich, as I am mature enough to know how to use it. I dont buy skills, I work for them! I would not buy a skill as fankly it would ruin my sence of achivement. HOWEVER I like to know the money/items are there! if I need /want somthing new I can get it (after putting alot of thought into it)
hohto
I personally like being good in all ways: allround high lvl skiller with high combat, enough cash to do almost anything and bank worth more than 99% of the players I see in game. My own motto is that others can do what they can, I do what I want. If I want myself a new party hat, I work for it and get it. If I want a certain level, I'll take it. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
rareghoul1
it is frustrating for me being poor as i am, but i've watched my friends play, total lvl 1700+ and 50m, i don't think i would like it. if you want something, you just type it into your screen and you get it, no sense of achievement. that's why i don't consider merchanting an honest living, you don't work for it, you take other people's money. dorington
I would like to be rich one day but not by finding a party hat on the ground. I mean I would pick it up but not sell it, same with 3rd age melee armor if I get it from clues Barrows drops: Torags pl8, Torgas legs, Guthans chainskirt

imaerehw14
Thats why people make pures. to drop trade 50m and a phat so the pure can start out staking witha lot of money? I like being wealthy. it gives me support on goals, instead of having dreams. I still have 'dreams' for runescape, but if i didnt have money, i would have a lot more of them, rather than having goals I know i can achieve, and achieving something is always good. Mischlings
Whether or not you call me "good", I love where I am in the game right now. I'm not so rich that I can buy anything on a whim, yet I have a decent level of wealth (I'd guess my bank is worth about 20 million). I have almost everything I need to do my favorite activities in the game (slayer and agility, to name a couple), and I never get bored of what I do. So do I like being good? If you consider me good, then yes, I do. If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature. piman1053
Depends what verb tense you're thinking of. The road to almost any 99 is very long and painful, but its nice to see 99/99 by a couple of burning logs O:)
InkofDeath
I wasn't happy when I had 16mill on my main. I know have a pure and lead a clan, I get my happiness from clan members and pking with them. I'm extremely poor too. ^^
Mc_comix_yo
Well, my favorite times were the young, new player, and the exact opposite, the veteran, moderately wealthy player. The middle sort of sucked, but both extremities are fun.
Xstarfox33X
I think what we are trying to discuss here is talking about the very early time of rsc I know there arn't ancient amount of ppl like myself that start playing way back then but back then, this game was seriously fun..u'll have to literally kick me away from the comp to stop me from playing... I had around 4 irl friends that got me playing, we all lived in the same neighborhood. Everyday, (during summer), we would all get on during the day and hang out. Back then, all u see is lower levels, and if u had steel, all the power to u cuz from lev 5 to 20 is a major jump. Money was especially hard to come by... literally everyone was mining back then, cuz then u can smith it into armor and sell it in the shops, and this was pretty much the only way u wuld make any money at all. There was probably 10 ppl at barbarian coal mines... and i still remembered just clicking on 1 rock not noticing that when the rock turns white, the coal was already mined. Probably took 30 to 45 minutes for a 29 load of coal. There weren't rich ppl back then, so it was rare to c anyone buy supplies...and also fishing wasn't a big money maker back then since the wild didn't come out yet..., and when it did, it was just mayhem...ppl would go to vorrack wild and not line up right before lev 1 wild, there were no pures bak then and we would al be spread out from lev 1 to lev 15 wild...the fun days... so basically, i think what makes this game fun is when u get ur friends and go do stuff in the game, and now...mostly every have 1 way of making money, then buy the raw materials themselves...heck i do it too, but it isn't fun anymore as it was 6 years ago omg talking off topic... :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes: took me a while to write that so...i'll delete it if its spam Right...
