im1knight
i have got braces about 1 month before, now i noticed something weird... after i put them on, all my teeth and turning from white to yellow..then orange.. then dark orange..almost to black.. what is that about?! i asked the dentist but they said i have to make an appointment, which is 1 week later. but now i want to know if this occurred to anyone else. becuase now i only brush my teeth harder than before. i brush like 3 times a day..i used to just brush twice.. and its still getting worse. and they are not stains, because they cannot be brushed off.. hmm what can seems to be the problem...i don't want my teeth ruined :( Quit runescape on Jan 6th of 2008, at level of 115 with around 150M worth of item in bank...however stats still remainsWorld 59, the world i loved~ Now 95% dedicated to playing Microsoft flight simulator http://www.youtube.com/user/im1knightmy youtube channel with many FSX videos i made. please leave a comment if you will

Echofish
You sure that's not just plaque? I've got braces and they don't do that or anything, try flossing it out. Ultra Unholy,Hearted Machine...
baron8000
Can you not get an emergency appointment? Do your teeth hurt? is it colour change all over or just in one place? Do you have any coloured bands on your braces? Dentist is still the best place to go though, get there sharpish.
Biabf
Don't worry too much, the dentist will be able to get it with polishing or bleaching or something, it will come off. Might be a reaction or something?
Icingdeath
Braces are a load of crap. My dentist told me I needed them badly a few years ago. Now my teeth are straight as hell...no braces or anything. They tell you that you need braces so they can get more moneys. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.

You sure that's not just plaque? I've got braces and they don't do that or anything, try flossing it out. nope..its not between teeth...its on them..and flossing wont do it. baron8000
To me it sounds too regiments and exact to be anything like plaque or decay, maybe the dentist screwed up when he put it on or something. As to the teeth feeling loose dw about it, when I had my brace I felt the same thing, it is just the teeth moving and being slightly looser. The Dark Lord
That's weird. I was hoping to get some braces this summer because I'm 15 and don't want them as an adult and I also have 2 overbites (one is just a molar in the back and another isn't noticeable, but has been slanted for a while and it has grown WORSE, so I want to get it fixed before it has some nasty consequences. I also want them because my teeth are slightly gapped (not ugly or anything) and I want them closer together because it hurts when I'm eating chicken and the meat gets caught between some of my teeth. Overall, my teeth look okay, but why not go ahead and perfect them? I don't know what to tell you though. Do you mean black as in pitch-black? As a tip: Stay away from anything that may stain your teeth or damage them further. Also don't try bleach on your teeth because you have braces and once you take the braces off, it will look weird because the area around your braces will be noticeably lighter than where the braces were. It's probably not the braces that's doing it, but I heard that if you're not careful, you can easily get cavaties while wearing them. Just brush your teeth constantly and use mouthwash and watch your eating habits and stay away from cigarettes and the like because they stain teeth. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on.
Tigra00
Uhhh, maybe I'm misunderstanding, or you're exaggerating, but you said they went from dark orange to...black? If your teeth are black, that means they're rotted out and they need to be pulled out...So I'm highly doubting your teeth are black... The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! They tell you that you need braces so they can get more moneys. Nice job discrediting the entire field of orthodontia off of your one lucky instance. I'm sure everyone else who didn't get braces and needed them at the time are glad they took the same risk. By "all my teeth and turning from white to yellow..then orange.. then dark orange..almost to black," do you mean all of your teeth, and each tooth in entirety, has turned almost black? I doubt that's the case, and if it isn't, it could just be the area of your bands around your teeth turning color.

hellbellz
Well let me tell you. It's not the braces that are causing this. :| I'm getting mine off in 2 weeks, nothing like this has ever happened in the past 2 years. Bone normally dosent have any capacity to change in any way veary quickly, and it definatly donen't have the facilitys needed to turn themselves yellow or orange, at least not via melenin. And yes I know most of that was brutly incorect grwammer but right now Im not to worried.
IGoddessI
When I had braces I sometimes had the yellowing problem but this was due to the gluing of the wire not my actual teeth. This was due to not listening and drinking soft drink when told not to with braces. Don't lose any sleep over it until you see your dentist, they polish your teeth up really nice when they're taken off and you have the whitest teeth ever for a while. The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. Well, you said your teeth were turning black. Either it's something weird with the cement (I know nothing about that crap) they use, or your teeth are rotted, which like I said, is highly unlikely. Unless you're a meth addict or you never brush, that won't just HAPPEN...Well, unless your teeth have no enamel, which I'm sure they have to in order to get braces, so... Yeeeea, I dunno' what you mean by "turning black". The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!
