Thank you tip.it for the board splitting. Would it be a good idea to remove post count from the forum? I believe tip.it has always promote quality > quantity posting and since posts in such threads does not seem like quality posts. Some people may also posts on such threads for post counts (which I can't deny doing so before).

If people are already saying they are gonna stay out of the sub-forum, was it a success? Yes to some, but really, if it doesn't last, as in the sub-forum receives no replies on a daily basis, will it be removed, then a rule gets put in? :-s

Pardon the religious reference... but Oh God, I hope that a rule like that doesn't happen! I dive into stuff like this every once in a while, wanting to learn about other players of the game.

I meant as in, its dead more then CD or Graveyard is, or gets worse then that. If users still use it, it shouldn't be deleted. =S

I am still seeing a lot of threads that belong to Questionnaires forum appear the main general discussion. It seems that authors of such threads do not actually pay attention to the new forum existence, forum users still prefer to make such threads in the wrong forum. Would there be any suggestions to deal with this? Maybe mods should just lock the threads instead of moving, but again it is still extra work for the mods. :?

When I saw, 'it happened', I couldn't understand what had happened at all, and I kept looking at General, then someone said new sub-forum, or something, and I looked for that, and I found it. 8-)

 

 

 

Point is, a lot of users may not even know its there, where has the new sub-forum been advertised, besides being right in the face of the users? Also some users may not know that their topic is a questionare topic...So in General, make another copy of the sticky in Questionaires and put it in General...?

Ok so 1 month has passed. I don't think the situation of the number of topics that belong the subforum has improved. Today alone i spotted 4 topics that don't belong in the main forum. Maybe it's time we do something about it?

Yes. I agree. It seems that the people that create the misplaced topics don't even know the subforum exist. Something could be done to make it more noticable, and more clear cut as to what goes there. Yes I know it is very clear cut now, but some just don't seem to understand the name of the sub forum. :XD:

 

 

 

Edit- instead of calling it "questionnaires, polls, surveys", maybe i something along the lines of "what do you think" should be added to the title/description? I notice most of the threads started, then moved, to the new sub forum usually contain "what do you think" in the title (or something similar to "what do you think" in the title :P )

I hardly even notice the sub-forum. The colours of the text are cool colours, and really just make it feel like it isn't there. Perhaps change a text colour to red, or yellow, to make them more visible when users scroll down. Like the description of the forum could be red/yellow.

Even though the best solution is just to report the topic like any other topic that is posted in the wrong area. :-#

The line "Welcome to tip.it" was sarcasm. I mean't to say: "That's the way it goes here".

We will never get to a point where everybody knows about the subforum and posts in it correctly. How long has the Help & Advice forum been around? Ages. And do we still see questions being asked in General Discussion? Yes, but we don't see anybody complaining about that. If you report the misplaced threads, they will be moved to the proper subforum. And if they're not, PM me and I'll do it myself.

General discussion is perhaps my favorite thread, but I have to say, There are far too many speculation threads, too. I don't think they actually do anything, either. NO ONE ever guesses things right, and there are far too many nooby posts. I think we could make a speculation sub-forum.
