Some people are saying party hats are the best item. What is really the best item in RS?

best in what aspect?

 

Most expensive, best defense, best looking, etc.

With it you can buy any other item multiple times.

As far as all round usefulness and importance goes, its got to be the Whip. It's an essential piece of gear.

Party Cracker hands down, as hohto said.

To be honest, an overrall best item simply does not exist.

 

There is a best kind of item for every seperate aspect. In addition to this, what you might find to be the best might be seen as not that important by another player.

 

Street prices also play a role. Party hats and other rares are sold at a ridiculously high price, whereas they are worth 1gp in the general store. This also applies on many many other items.

I'd go for the item with the best attack/defense stats but sadly enough I don't know wich one.

Easily could. Just trade drops/raw materials gathered by yourself to drops/rawmaterials gathered by the others.

gp,with gp you can buy several party crackers.although party crackers are the most saught after item in game.

it is possible to find much of what you just said respawning in different places. like bronze axe in falador and other stuff. :P (man this was a useless comment)

some rly good points but you start with net so theres ur food then go fight and you get herbs then you get 99 herblore off herbs :? then you make sara brews and what not then fight high lvl monsters(get 99 slayer),get rune boots whip d chain d legs med d shield then go fer fire capeand then with the items you get you stake and get cracker!!@

Id have to say Knife, Wc Axe, Harpoon, and every other item that helps to you getting the other important item(s) gp
