I'm more of the melodic death/powermetal, general powermetal, gothic metal, such stuff. Some trash metal aswell. Generalizing: All metalbands coming from scandinavia rock. If you're looking for good metal, check in that region, especially Sweden has a lot of good bands. Now, some of my favorites: Cradle of Filth, Dark Tranquility, Diablo(!), Dragonforce, In Flames(!), Megadeth, Slayer(!) The !'s are what I'd recommend most. If you want brutal metal (e.g. crushing riffs, growling/grunting vocals, drum blast beats and [cabbage]) then you would go for things like Behemoth, Aborted, Cannibal Corpse (meh), Bloodbath, Kronos, Demigod, Aeon, Decapitated. Or do you mean metalcore? (also known as hardcore metal) I hate this stuff, but bleh whatever, some bands you can check out if you meant this are: Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, Chimaira, Trivium... don't know many metalcore bands.
