It was posted a while ago, thanks for bringing it back up. It was really nice what the editor did with the AA editor, it looks exactly like runescape. I'd really like to play that map. :P

 

 

 

And by the way, the title is misleading, runescape is already 3D :wink: . Perhaps it should be more like "Runescape- awesomely better graphics and in first person."

Jagex should try to do something like that, the system requirements couldn't be much further than counterstrike, which about 90% of all computers play perfectly.

they had a poll last month for specs on pc, like ram etc, but most people put "I don't know" i'd rather lie about my pc and make it sound rubbish so it doesnt make it lag MORE than it does already. :P

I take back what I said entirely if he did this in his spare time BUT over a course of 3 years amounts of spare time are the conditions .

thats really neat, we'll never see it in RS though. One of the really appealing qualities of the game is that you can play it from anywhere, and on a small screen that is java based, and can run on slow computers. I think that if it was changed to this and full screen that a lot of people would move to other games because:

 

1.) they cant run the game

 

2.) they think WOW, GW, etc. are better but they liked this feature of the game.

I think they should upgrade the "high res" mode into something more 3D like this, and make the low res into how the current high res.

The beauty of Java is that it was designed to be easy to use and accessible, however because it relies on a virtual machine as a trade off it is comparatively slower than other languages ie C++ which is the main language used for games programming today what this engine is coded in.

 

 

 

For graphics to be like this Jagex will need to completely rewrite the game and change their business model and target audience demographic. Currently RS runs from a browser and is predominately aimed at the lower age demographic who has less cash to throw at higher end PC gear, which will be needed to run this sort of environment smoothly.

 

 

 

You can bet that membership fees will also be substainally higher due to higher costs involved with operation and development so I doubt we will be seeing a revamp in graphics anytime soon.

If it's not done in java, jagex won't do it.
