Wii doesn't even count IMO. It's not next-gen. Graphics suck, 3rd party game support is awful. It's an Xbox or PS2 with a nunchuk controller. Casual gamers and parents are going to buy it for there families because it's the cheapest thing out there and fun for the whole family. No hardcore gamer is going to pick a Wii over PS3 or 360. Seriously...how many things can you do with Mario?

Since when does graphics make a difference? Crap is still crap whether its in high definition or not am I right? I'm really getting tired of people like this, I mean if Barbie's Pony Adventure had good graphics they would call it hardcore gaming, its completly rediculous.

To tell the truth the Wii is probably the closest to Next gen gaming than either the X-box360 or the PS3, I mean unlike Microsoft and Sony it seems the Nintendo is actually going in a new direction of things, while they are working on graphics and memory Nintendo has been working on ways to actually change gaming rather than go down the same old path that everyone has been on for years now.

I have nothing against traditional gaming but you can only go so far with it.

For now I think as far as true gaming goes, Xbox will come out on top(Due to its extensive library which Nintendo and Sony would have a very hard time catching up with in number as well as quality), Wii will be second(Seeing as the new gameplay is going to take some time to actually show its true potential), and the PS3 will be last(Small library, almost no decent exclusive games, only thing they have going for them is graphics, and graphics don't make decent games by themselves, sure it will go up in quality as time goes by, but so will the others).

Actually if you look around hard enough you can get a PS3 for 350 bucks and that comes with 5 BD movies. You gotta sign up for a Sony credit card to get it but, anyway...it's an option.

360 and PS3 will battle it out for quite a while. I still think Sony sells more consoles than MS in the end but that doesn't mean they win. MS better get there hardware issues under wraps tho or Sony will win. MGS4, Killzone 2, FFXIII, LittleBigPlanet, HS, Uncharted, GT5...those games are going to move consoles. MS is going to be around tho til the end no doubt. I don't own a 360 and don't ever plan on it but I like having them around...it's good for competition and in the end the gamer wins.

Erixson, thanks for the heads up on the $350 PS3 thing. I just signed up for a Sony card (Why not, anyways? Doesn't cost me anything.) and hopefully they'll approve me and stuff before the offer ends...In 7 days. I'm seriously doubting I'll be able to get one by then, but I *am* hoping. :P I always said I'd never buy a PS3 until they were cheaper, so...Here we go...It's cheap.

I can't see PS3 winning. It's the most poweful system but the bad line-up of games is going to bring it down. Halo 3 alone could be enough to bring Xbox to the top. In order for PS3 to have a fighting chance they need to produce a game as big as Halo 3 with the ability to have a large online community like it.

Resistance is already a great game with a great online community. You will always find a match. And there is always loads of people playing it.

I wonder why people are saying that the PS3 will not come out on top because they have a bad line up. The console hasn't been out for a year. And it will most likely be for another 6 years (minimum) before a new console will arrive. You don't think they'll release any good titles within those five years? How many 'must own' titles did the 360 have the first year it came out? How many good WII (that means no Cube games ported to Wii) have there been released? Exactly. The entire game arguement seems useless.

Oh, and didn't the 360 get another beating with those stearing wheels. All of them had the risk to explode while using them or something? Brr. Just when you thought driving in a computer game couldn't take any lives.

Because the PS3 is expensive

$600 for the PS3. $280 for the 360. $250 for the Wii.

The PS3's price is not competitive at all and they're already losing a lot of money

Some of had a little smoke coming out of them, not explosions I'm sure. But what was widespread was the burning smell, apparently people thought it was some new tech that simulated burning rubber.

lol you are lucky to buy a PS3 at $600 it costs sony about $800 to make them. Who cares about the price, if you can't afford it doesn't make the console bad. PS3 is the best console.( in my opinion)

What are you blabbering about? I'm saying PS3 won't rank first because it's expensive. I didn't say anything about it being a horrible console

What's funny is that the PS3 is an inferior GAMING console no matter how much they spent or sell it for. The 360 is just better. It's been tested against the PS3 over and over and the 360 always wins, even if it's only by a 'smidge. The only reason the PS3 is so expensive to make and sell is because it has that [developmentally delayed]ed [wagon] Bluray player in it, because it's Sony technology, and Sony had to find a way to push it. Too bad their losing there, too, though...It's just funny how people think that because it's more expensive, it must run and play games better. It doesn't. Not necessarily, anyways. Like I've said here before, it was tested against the 360 when it launched and the 360 ran all the games they tried better than the PS3. They looked better and stuff. The PS3 is more of a home entertainment thing...You CAN play games, but it seems they made it 70% about games and 30% about other junk it does like play movies, whereas on the Xbox, the fact that it plays movies was just a bonus and it's focus is wholey on games. Sony themselves have even said indirectly that it wasn't just for playing games. They tried to get it registered as a computer system so they could cut shipping costs. They failed, but they still marketed it as some "computer" system.

Why do you think people who attack the 360 only attack it's hardware failures? Because that's the only thing really wrong with it, and even then, it isn't all of them. Mine, for instance, hasn't broken.

What's sad is that they could have made an awesome console if they skipped that whole Bluray junk and just put more useful stuff into it. But even that wouldn't of helped, apparently...Xbox360 has 528MB of shared RAM, the PS3 has 256MB of two different sorts, meaning they have to pick and choose what they can put in the game and what they can't...Either graphics or sound, they can't do both. PS3's interface thing also takes up like 80MB of that or something I've read, and the 360's takes up like 40. This is very, very bad for the PS3. The PS3's games are inferior to the 360's because they're forced to be.

The first price drop is a fact. You don't think they will lower the price more later on? Look how many PS2s got sold when they got cheaper. Just because a console is expensive in the first two years doesn't mean it will 'lose' in the end.

I'm willing to bet the PS2 will still be out selling the PS3 even when the PS3 has dropped in price signifigantly - why? Because in short the only real change between the two is graphics, other than that it's the same line of up games just with upped graphics to the limitation of the engine, not the hardware.

i have loads of peple say blu-ray is useless. but the fact is blu-ray is the best disc. And if you can't afford it then too bad! Just so i know tell me every bad thing about the PS3.

Too easy. Why don't you tell us everything GOOD about it?

I've also heard Bluray is better...Not sure how or why...I heard it can hold more space, or something. That's good. That's spiffy. That's super. But it isn't worth several hundred dollars no matter what it does. a DVD player is like $30. An HD-DVD player is cheap too. A Bluray player? Not sure how much they are right now, but like 8 months ago I can remmeber someone saying they were like $800.

Uuuhhh...It better have sex with me for that much money. I'm sure they're less now (the cost of manufacturing them has even dropped $100), but still.

And the PS3 hasn't dropped in price. They're having a "clearance" for the 60MB HD versions. They're trying to get rid of them. The 80MB unit will cost $600, again.

Really the reason why blue-ray is better is developers don't have to jump through hoops to get a movie or something on it. HD-DVD you need to get permission.

Either way the point everyone is trying to get off right now is that the PS3's price is too much considering what you could get. I mean, you could get a 360 and a Wii for around as much the PS3 would cost you.

Hardware wise, even though the PS3 is supposed to have superior hardware, the 360 has been winning in all sorts of benchmark tests. Madden 07 runs at 60 fps steady on the 360, but only 30 fps with actual lag [bleep]e drops on the Ps3? How can you explain that, considering it is the same game?

I'm looking forward to seeing what they can bring. However sony does need to act fast because a lot of publishers are moving over to do games on the 360 instead. It makes them a lot more money to develop a game for both 360 and PS3 instead of just the PS3, and thats really hurting the PS3 (who wants to pay more for a system that has a lot of the same games?)

Pretty much Sony needs to build back up their rep, they are getting a lot of negative plubicity lately.

I've had enough of you saying "It's a fact," I had to go through people when I didn't provide evidence, now you'll have to provide me with evidence or you're just being completely biased.

Not only that, but I provided everyone with evidence (in the PS3, wii, or 360 thread) of the PS3's faults, forget so soon?

(Comes back a couple of seconds later)

henman, just to let you know before I begin, I don't care if you disagree with any of this, I don't care if you think any of this is wrong, and mostly, don't give a damn if you complain. This goes for everyone also. Now...

[hide=Critical Reviews and Stupid Claims from the Company]For many sane and popular reviewests, apparently they must have gotten bad PS3's, or why the hell would they give bad reviews? Hmmmm.... :-k

Howard Stringer, you have a problem. Your company̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s new video game system just isn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t that great.

Ever since Mr. Stringer took the helm last year at Sony, the struggling if still formidable electronics giant, the world has been hearing about how the coming PlayStation 3 would save the company, or at least revitalize it. Even after Microsoft took the lead in the video-game wars a year ago with its innovative and powerful Xbox 360, Sony blithely insisted that the PS3 would leapfrog all competition to deliver an unsurpassed level of fun.

Put bluntly, Sony has failed to deliver on that promise.

Measured in megaflops, gigabytes and other technical benchmarks, the PlayStation 3 is certainly the world̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s most powerful game console. It falls far short, however, of providing the world̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s most engaging overall entertainment experience. There is a big difference, and Sony seems to have confused one for the other.

The PS3, which was introduced in North America on Friday with a hefty $599 price tag for the top version, certainly delivers gorgeous graphics. But they are not discernibly prettier than the Xbox 360̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s. More important, the whole PlayStation 3 system is surprisingly clunky to use and simply does not provide many basic functions that users have come to expect, especially online.

I have spent more than 30 hours using the PlayStation 3 over the last week or so and may have played more different games on the system ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã

Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D

Clearance sale, price drop. Same story. You can get it cheaper. And when there is a new version it will be available for less money after some time as well. And when you can buy it for less money more people will buy it. So the story remains the same. It's logical that they're not releasing their new version inmidetialy with a price drop for it. It's just a matter of time. Microsoft didn't do that with their Elite either.

What's your point? I can't believe you're making excuses for a corporation.

Still no competitive pricing.

So what if the Elite didn't drop? You don't need an Elite to play 360 games. But you do need to pay 500+ to play PS3 games.

I've had enough of you saying "It's a fact," I had to go through people when I didn't provide evidence, now you'll have to provide me with evidence or you're just being completely biased.

The thing with the 360 Elite is that it has more fetures, including a 120gb hard drive, hdmi port, and a few other things. It is worth the extra cash over the premium. It has dropped in price since release, $30.

What Sony is doing on the other hand is dropping the 60GB model and releasing an 80GB for $600 with the only thing changed is more hard drive space which cost them maybe $1 more. Theres also a rumor going around that they are now using software emulation for ps1/2 which if true, would save them money and cost them less money to make than the 60GB.
