As I posted this on RSC already, I thought it might be fodder for a bit of discussion here.

 

 

 

BanSimilar to other gods like Zaros, Armadyl, Seren, and Azzanandra (sp?), Bandos sits as one of the minor Gods of RuneScape, mentioned latest in the most recent newsletter.

 

 

 

So I put two two and three together, and looked back at where we might find clues about his existence.

 

 

 

From the ever-difficult-to translate Chaos Elemental's Ramblings in October (PftH) of last year, we get this.

The ogres have been petitioning Bandos for a while for a new look fortress, and this December they will get it! He has agreed to give the city of Gu'Tanoth a lick of paint and a spot of spring cleaning, so keep your eyes peeled for a general area improvement of this mysterious, yet rather thuggish place.

And finally, our latest BTS, which got me thinking about why he's so important in the first place:

 

 

 

Incredible loot, ancient boss-monsters, extinct species and one of the most graphically intensive updates of the year will leave you begging for a nice simple goblin to kill. DonÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t worry! There are even some of them in there, with the rest of the Bandos army.

 

 

 

Now, while neither ogres or goblins are particularly dangerous foes (the ogre mages the clear exception to this), it makes me wonder what Jagex might have in store regarding those rewards linked to Bandos, the apparent god of the Ogres/Goblins.

 

 

 

I'm thinking large (two handed) weapons, most likely. Very slow, also.

 

 

 

I'm also a little disappointed not to have seen/remembered lore of him in the Watchtower/BCBH/Zogre Flesh Eaters/Goblin series of quests. Does this also mean that Goblins and Ogres share a common ancestor? They both are stupid creatures. Is runescape evolution at work?

 

 

 

And do you even think that the new dungeon will shed light on any of these mysteries anyway? I always found playing with the weapons themselves was more interesting than searching for the lore behind them!dos, the ogre and goblin god?

 

 

 

By the way, isn't it interesting how the Chaos Elemental always is spot on in what's coming, though we'd never know it at the time?

I would assume Bandos has something to do with Orges as, if I remember correctly, Orges are mentioned in the book on the top floor of the Kegedim (wow I butchered that name... the underground dwarf city)library.

Wow, nice find on the Chaos Elemental letter there. I like how it all seemed like random drivel at the time, but looking back everything it mentioned turned out to be some sort of update we'd be getting. That's pretty cool.

Well, in the return of the HAM quest, the goblins did talked about their god and how he drove them to war by force, so maybe that's it

I'm pretty sure that the God that's mentioned in the Goblin book is Bandos also, though it doesn't actually NAME his Bandos, merely "High War god of goblins".

Which makes me wonder about the relationship between goblins and ogres. It would seem, then, that they share a common enemy in the gnomes, but that is unsaid.

Bandos=Big High War God. Goblins serve the Big High War God, Ogres serve Bandos. Goblins& Ogres are Bandos's minions. Bandos most likely do NOT serve zamorak(Evidenced by the fact that the goblins mention "the BIG HIGH war GOD" and the "god of Dark Fire" and Zamorak fits the "God of Dark Fire" description well, and this leaves (evil gods: Zaros, Zamorak, Bandos) Bandos (Zaros "dead")(Zamorak other god), and Bandos is called a GOD by the goblins), but zamorak "zombifies" dead ogres and makes them HIS minions.

given the fact Jagex stated its gonna be "probably the biggest update of the year" i am expecting nothing less then an upgraded/advanced Barrows,which also means new sets and/or items.
