ExcelBlue
Isn't it kinda of cheating if somebody just tells you they'll give you a rune helm to start off, and then another person gives you a sara kite? Hey, i'll recreate the exact topic, wooden shield -> Blue partyhat, but i'll have my friend give me a blue partyhat! I win! The optimal.

Hey, i'll recreate the exact topic, wooden shield -> Blue partyhat, but i'll have my friend give me a blue partyhat! I win! I'm sorry, but how is this "cheating"?! I just don't understand why so many of you are claiming me to be cheating?! Am I secretely taking a look at your answers in the Exam Demon random event? I have opened the idea to people to trade an item for the current item in order to achieve something no one has been able to, people saying I'm cheating for personal gain of only 20m... why? Have you not read my previous posts? I don't to gain a couple of GP, I'm just trying to achieve a task which many of you have said is very hard. And the community will benefit from it anyway if the task is managed. Anyways, I'm back online so if any traders want a Sara Kite just send me a PM :) . Jackstick
The man with the red paperclip didnt get his little buddies around to help him by giving him more valuable items. He did it himself. Heck I could end your goal right now if I was nice enough to give you a free santa hat. Now if you actually managed to take the little steps in this process, then it would be real. The idea is to independantly reach your goal. If you have your friends help you, its really no different from getting friendly donations. Now you may disagree with this, but I believe that somewhere along the line of trying to turn a wooden shield into a santa hat, the average John Doe would get anxious and sell something else in order to make his goal faster. If you really want to be recognized as "that guy who turned a wooden shield into a santa hat" then you have to actually do it by trading random users. tomdavies90
sorry but announcing your doing it kinda ruins it. :P heh Urrm no, the original people who did it didn't have one thing, advertising, the reason the guy got from a paperclip to a house was through media, without it he would've gotten nowhere. Sig by me....
elementz_m
forums are by far the easiest way to do this. he is not getting his friends to do it, he's asking everyone to join in. if i wanted a sara kite right now, as opposed to [something else i have], i could offer to trade for it. i'm not his friend, i don't know him. it would be a simple trade, same as happens all the time in runescape. it's also fairly obvious he's not doing it for the money. look at his sig. see all the money and the santas? and this would be a horribly slow way to make money. also, to all of you who've said that he should do it and THEN tell people about it, you'd say he was lying. it would, perhaps, be more interesting that way and it would be possible to prove it with screenshots of reasonable-looking trades but it would be much easier to give up that way. I think I do have a valied point that no one in their right mind would trade a rune full helm for a sara kite, ou blatently new this person or the person you traded knew you were doing this and helped/ Other more talented people have hinestly gone from a egg to a santa hat through merchanting skill. das
The value increase is a bit sad and its more like donating than actually trading. Basically the way I see it is you want a free Santa, and don't want the trading to be hard or long, a 10 gp item into a 30k item...which is 3000 times more valueable to a 300k (10x more value) item is no where near small increases, in fact its a massive increase percentage wise. Beckett magazine did a similar thing with sports card's turning a $10 bill into a 10k+ collection, the link is here http://www.beckett.com/estore/news/?s=1 ... ett&a=4228 That is worth reading about, reading about "oh, I traded a wooden shield for a large than sara kite then guilded legs to a Santa is something no one will care about reading. "Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."Abraham Lincoln

das
I don't want a free santa you deluded idiot, to say you're a mod you're not a very good reader, try reading the whole thread, come back with something interesting to say and give me an enticing flame post to read k? I don't want a santa for myself, get to grips with it. I read the whole thread and noticed how quick and harsh you were to defend yourself with names like idiot and other insults almost every time someone said you posting here was "cheating" or that the trades were very unbalanced etc .. Never once did I call you an idiot and I only agreed with a very large community voice that you seem to be fishing for publicity Judging from the replies i read. you started on this thread with a wooden shield and due to generous donations and no real trading or merchanting involved you got to where you are now, had you of not posted, would you of even hit the 30k mark? let alone the 300k mark? In fact if you paid attention I gave you a link which shows "trading up" except it was done in the real world and those people got deals often because "Collectors needed cash". Thus the only way for you get a santa to my understanding is three ways 1) you're going to use this post hoping for very kind and unbalanced "Trades" so you can brag in the future "oh but I traded a wooden shield for a santa. When in reality, You got one gave to you by virtually swapping lower end junk (in comparison a rune large is junk, compared to a kite, and even an easter egg is a junk offer for one santa) for your santa, making your goal a hollow victory and nothing really to brag about, unless you are doing this because you desire a santa or want a free one, then you have accomplished your goal, but this current trend to me is nothing worth bragging about. 2) You're going to get tired of posting bump because people have no desire to support someone based on the attitude displayed in the previous posts to any naysayers or the fact they are too poor and unable to help you leaving you with a 30 page thread that gets "bumped" because you have either burned your bridges or your fanclub is too poor. 3) you are going to wisen up and realize you do not need this forum to get the santa because you take the effort to actually "trade" up and get what you want. and then when you post a say for example 700+ trade log in getting your santa...people will respect you and you will have something to brag about, But at the current rate i see this as nothing more than a oh, i'm posting to get a santa and attempting to look like i am a legendary trader when instead you ride off of people's kindness which in my view, is nothing to brag about If you do decide to keep swapping with what you have currently you have two real options, Hoping for desperate people needing that TT item for a set or costume room hoping they overpay due to need or converting that 300k into GP and using it to buy small "Deals" of players needing to sell something badly. "Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. bbalking
Well you initially started by basically saying I'm the same as "Pl0x gimme 10gp" begger. And going on to say i see this as nothing more than a oh, i'm posting to get a santa and attempting to look like i am a legendary trader when instead you ride off of people's kindness which in my view, is nothing to brag about when I haven't once bragged about being a "legendary" trader or claimed that you have to trade 10x higher than the previous player. Oh and about the point that I will make this thread into 32 pages of bumps is wrong, there are flamers like you who will do the job in a more interesting way than a simple 4 letter annoyance. hybrid2hell
Sorry, but too many people try this as a way of getting some free stuff. And the 800m in your sig? Gl anyway.. Burzuk
I think what everyone is trying to say is this is too much based on tip.it's people generosity...it doesn't matter if you knew them or not Wooden Shield for a rune large isn't a fair trade because of the gp value same for the sara kite. I'm not trying to say you can't make it, but instead I would like you to actually merchant for the santa. Don't flame people for being naysayers because if you believe you can do it then nothing else matters. Just do it fair...btw if i were you i would start all over again but this time not accepting freebies and merchant within the game. Don't flame me k? :ohnoes:
