deejay_hr
I'm rather surprised no one mentioned this game. Hellgate London is a FPS/RPG made by Flagship Studios. Flagship Studios is a team of game developers mostly comprised of ex members of Blizzard North, the team that made the Diablo series. Some of them are legends of the gaming developer community. Here's a description of the game from the official webpage. [hide=It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 2038, and London lies in ruins...] From Flagship Studios ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ creators of the award-winning Diablo̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâî series and the fathers of the action role playing genre ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ comes HellGate: London, the next benchmark in the evolution of the RPG genre. Combining the depth of traditional RPGs with the frenetic, visceral feel of first-person shooters, HellGate: London offers infinite replayability with dynamically created levels, monsters, items and events that gives each player their own unique hack-and-slash experience. A post-apocalyptic London has been overrun by hordes of terrifying demons, leaving the city desolate and scorched by hellfire. Those who were unlucky enough to survive now gather in the only sanctuary left, the Underground, banding together in order to gain a foothold against the minions of darkness and ultimately save the bloodline of humanity. It is no surprise that these sole survivors come from three of society̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s most elite factions, each of whom are masters of a robust number of skills and weapons essential to demon-thrashing. The Templar, a secret society preserving the rites of the original Knights Templar, mix futuristic technology with ancient artifacts to create powerful weapons and armor perfect for short-ranged and melee attacks. The Cabalists are students of the dark arts and edges of science which often leaves them standing right on the line between good and evil. Their mystifying spells make them suited for mid-range combat. The Hunters are mysterious, highly trained ex-military operatives who lay waste to their foes with hyper-advanced weapons that blend theoretical science and the latest in technology ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ and their bullets can come from almost any distance. HellGate: London delivers an amazing gaming experience to PC gamers of all types ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ delivering the eye-popping DX10 visuals demanded by the hardcore, and scaling to ensure the masses of casual RPG players can still get the best performance on older PCs. Key Features * The RPG Authority ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Flagship Studios was founded by the core creators of Diablo, one of the biggest PC gaming franchises in history with over 13 million units sold worldwide ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ they are the first, last and only voice in the world of action RPGs. * Beyond RPG ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Experience new layers to the traditional hack-and-slash forumla by experiencing the action RPG from the first-person perspective and through nontraditional character classes and playstyles. * Have it your way - Three unique factions with their own visual and gameplay style, offering something for every type of gamer, whether they prefer the longer-range blasts of the Hunter or want to get up close and personal with the Templar. * Infinite Replayability ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Dynamically generated levels, chance events and massive quantities of randomly created items makes for infinite replayability -- no two experiences will ever be the same and every game will be it̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s own unique event. * Mad Skills ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Each faction has three character classes that contain a wide variety of skills and spells that are fully customizable. * London Calling ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Explore post-apocalyptic London, even darker and gloomier than usual. From shattered cathedrals and landmarks to the ancient ruins buried beneath the shell of a once-great city, players will need to scour all of London in search of the unknown. * Misery Loves Company ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be a glory hog ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ fight online. Gather with friends or recruit strangers in Underground stations and venture out into mean streets of London together to erase the Demonic threat. * Hell Never Looked Better ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ HellGate: London features all of the latest next-generation technology to deliver a true, DX10 experience, while being fully scalable for optimal performance on older PCs. [/hide] The game isn't out yet, it will be released on Halloween. However, I've been an alpha tester, and I'm in the beta testing now, so I can tell you the game rocks, and it will rock even more once it's out. I never really found out what it was (cost wise) other than a free/paid version.

deejay_hr
Well, all testers are bound by the Non-disclosure agreement, which means I can't tell you a single thing that isn't already public knowledge, or on the website. I can however say that the game owns. :D Just need to wait till December. :P Need a countdown? Don't know where to find one? http://www.pending.me.uk/Retired TET leader. Zonorhc
Good that they're taking advantage of DX10... However, I have to note that the main selling point appears to be their "brand new RPG experience" - which to me sounds like what's already been done by games like Deus Ex, Oblivion and System Shock 2. But hey, Diablo meets SS2. Can't complain about that. I swear it'd get better sales if it was a Warhammer 40k game, though. fedex340
Ya i was kinda surprised that no one mentioned this or assassin's creed (maybe they did i didn't look very hard : ) I don't know which one out of these two will be better. Assassins creed brings something into the gaming community that no other game has ever, or at least in my lifetime. It has changed the way you control your character* (will this way stick, maybe, maybe not) and hellgate london just looks awesome. In general this year has been a good year for gamers. Halo 3, Fallout3, Assassin's Creed, Hellgate, not to mention countless of others (note: some of these games havent been released again) So ya, after re-reading it it seems as if i'm writing in a topic about assassins creed, lol :) but hey, that game is good too. * you control your character by each button controlling a certain body-part, like on a 360 controller, a would mean move left legs, b would be move right leg, etc. This is a very, very, brief explanation of how you control your character in assassins creed.
