They are triggered events that are fired when you are performing certain actions. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel ... Or is it just the front of an approaching train! As to the best of my judgement MOST (not all) in-game actions, such as getting a log from tree, hitting a monster, opening s door, clicking to move, have a option open to them. This option in the coding would be along the lines of picking a number from a list of say 500,000. Within the list of those numbers you'd have say 250,000 whihc commanded it to proceed with action. the other 250,000 would tell it to trigger the event script (whihc then would have its own selection system etc) Sure this may not be exactly how its done, but its the kind of system a java applet would use. Meaning it isn't totally random, but more down to luck of where on the list u land each time. Hence sometimes u get none and sometimes u get lots. I see loads more randoms (for both me and other players) when cooking in rogues den. I assume this is deliberately done in order to deter bots. I mean come on any good macroer would program to do randoms, the only people randoms are hurting are the ppl that actually play the game. I mean come on i get around 5 randoms a day while rcing at the zmi alter. Do they think that macro's have taken the time to do the lunar quests? taken the time to get 61 crafting for the quest and decided to rc at the ZMI alter instead of say nature alter? If these work this way, it's not hard to imagine that others work similarly. That would explain why, back when I did a lot of mining, I got the frog princess all the time. Now, not so much.
