BabyPunchers
its worth it, many, many tasks can be guthaned and the ones that dont are over quickly usually. Also with the facemask theres a nifty little trick. I dont know all the details so i'll let someone else tell you. Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color] Formerly RobinHoodie. Master_Smither
don't waste your money on guthans. You would pay way less for the food needed for 93 att+str. Xeones
I ask you this: Would it be worth it to buy Guthan's and do this method? Or do the Slayer masters assign so many tasks that require certain armor that I shouldn't even bother getting Guthan's?

Olbritishchap
I find it very effective, sure you get the occasional task that can't be guthaned, but most of them can be. So go ahead if you have the money, and if you don't like it, sell it.
Mat
used it from 60-84. 84-85 i used food, never had to bank in any of my tasks (high def ftw) i was 94 or 95 def at 84 slayer so... Ya :) . And 33% is not a good idea for most monsters, 50% is good. ALWAYS CARRY A A LOB/MONKFISH/SHARK!!! Guthans can be mean sometimes

sk8_tolivv
I'm pretty sure it would be a good help considering 85 slayer is a long way. I don't receive that many tasks that require me to use "Slayer items" I personally have never used guthans for slayer just because I don't want def exp

transcript80
Guthans is worth it, especially the way you intend to use it. as said, get bones to peaches if you haven't allready. Remember that most tasks can be burthorped if they are not "Guthanable". Just trade them in! But the Shilo guy and Chaeldar do not assign many tasks like that. I consider myself lucky when I get dust devils (facemask) or aberrant spectres (nosepeg) for they have great (potential) drops. Other data was removed when acoount got hacked... romu000
And 33% is not a good idea for most monsters, 50% is good. ALWAYS CARRY A A LOB/MONKFISH/SHARK!!! This point is very important, especially if you are training on a way wich the monster is not weak on : lowest hit = lowest heal. Guthan, if you can afford, is worth it : - you keep time (and money then) training instead of banking. - At 100+ cmb, Durarel start to give some huge tasks that need to stay as long as possible. - with surch an expensive gear : take care on lagg and health. the 50% thing depend on your HP, guthan state, def... and monster. Be careful ! - it is definetly not a good idea to guthaning in smoke dungeon. You may have to think a little different. You can slay the best missions (xp wise) to 85 slayer with the outfits you can have.... guthan is not the solution sometimes and use only combat ways that raise the combat skill you want. Then mix/cut your train on melee fighting pets to complete your combat achievment. Giant Skeletons is one of the a good spots to ever lasting, switching to guthan where you are in need of health. This way, you will also have fun wich is the best thing from slayer. Oh baby light the dark side...
cat666
Guthans is well worth it. The drops you get will pay for the repair cost. Abby Spectres, wear prayer gear and bring 4 prayer pots. You will get 4 ranarrs in most trips. Dust Devils, use bones to peaches. Black Demons, some can Guthan them but I still pray on them. Waste of a prayer pot but the XP is great. Basilks/Cockatrice - Guthan heal on the Pyrefiends if you need to. Bloodvelds/Infernal Mages - Use dragonhide but switch to Guthans to heal. Banshees shouldn't be an issue but heal on Crawling Hands. Kursaks/Turoth - skip these. Think thats it. Basically just think what other monsters are nearby. If that fails prayer. Trust the Gene Genie! Way to go in insulting someone who thinks out of the box-of-I-need-Guthan's-to-be-cool. Pah. I'm 10k xp away from 92 slayer, never owned a set of Guthan's. If you use your designated slayer master, you rarely need to bank for food refills. Guthan's is great for camping, but slayer has small tasks often easily done in one go. I'm not saying you should not use Guthan's, but I find it's quite obsolete. For slayer, anyway.
cat666
If you use your designated slayer master, you rarely need to bank for food refills. Black Demons hit hard, you cannot tell me you rarely need to eat on a task of 180+ of them. I see people 120cb+ using prayer/Guthans there. Same with Kalphites and others. Trust the Gene Genie! cat666
Oh heres some maths. Guthans = 7mil For 7 million you get: 10k sharks @ 700ea 35k lobsters @ 200ea However with fish you have to bank, Guthans lets you power through assignments. Guthans may need to be repaired, but this cost is easily offset from the drops. Once you have Guthans you need never buy food again. Trust the Gene Genie! Matok
Once you have Guthans you need never buy food again. :shame: common mistake. First, there are slayer tasks that cant be done using guthan. Second and most important, if you want to practice slayer effectively always bring some food with you (and pots ofcourse). The main reason is that guthaning slows you down. Once you put on your guthan you have to take off your mask ,which means you loose the awesome mask effect +other attack bonuses(from unequipping your weapon) . I always take food when on tasks, and use my guthan every now and then. So yes, guthan is very handy for slayer but i wouldnt recommend relying solely on it.
