And you can get hacked without visiting dangerous sites..., if an hacker seems your acc pictures here for example, and decides to hack you, you didn't really visit an unsafe website to get hacked, it just happened.

 

And those people who get hacked and have a bankpin, most likely they didn't lost much, while those who didn't have most likeley lost their bank.

I think he might be referring to a hack name brute force.

 

I'm not going to go into major detail on what it is, but basically it's someone trying your username with trial and error of all passwords. Not only are there millions of combinations, but the person also hopes that you don't regularly change your password.

 

So yes, it's possible to hack someone just from knowing their username, but, it's very unlikely someone would go through all that effort.

Most people will have a different RSN than login name, so your point is (almost) moot. I could post a picture of myself standing in Lumbridge, spamming my password, and no one could hack me.

Pirates seem to be good at fishing, just saying.

A brute force hack wouldn't work in any instance with runescape. The limits put on login attempts on most websites have made the brute force hack obsolete. The only people that get hacked on runescape are those doing something they shouldn't be. So yes, I'll be fine without a bank pin.

Well i would use bank pin as it is not that annoying to have it, the only problem that comes with it is dying somewhere(especially Corporeal beast) where you need to come back in a short time and PIN takes away precious seconds. I have lost some money at corp due to pin code(items disappearing right in front of my eyes)...

On the topic of hacking, I got brute forced by someone with over 10k bots after 11 days of work. I was on vacation for 2 weeks. Came back, had an offense for bad language that had been found and applied as soon as I got the account back, therefore when I tried to appeal that I had been hacked, since i was on the account when the offense had been applied (but had not actually committed the offense), it got denied -.-
