October 30, 200718 yr I found this thing while i was walking to lumby. i never take the goblin route so obviously I had never seen this tree before. What is it? is it some kind of glitch? or is it's purpose to attract bots? give me your thoughts. if you've seen it before, what did you think of it. The internet: A place where the men are men, the women are men, and 13 year old girls are FBI agents. looks like WoW's interface. Were you too lazy to read 3 posts above or too stupid to comprehend it?Brothers and sisters, I have none, but that man's father is my father's son. Who is that man?
October 30, 200718 yr It've been there since rs2 beta :|.. Nothing new, just a plain tree that you can't cut down. That's not the only one.
October 30, 200718 yr Said tree has existed in the game for nigh on...three years (four in December). It's not meant to be chopped down or be an NPO, it's just there to look nice. Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.
October 30, 200718 yr Hmm... I wonder if that is the mightiest tree in the forest... Just my little joke. It has been there for a long time.
October 30, 200718 yr Author So you guys think it's only there for decoration, like the statue near Port Sarim? That doesn't click in my mind, though. (not saying that you're wrong). It just seems like a bad choice. a lone tree that can't be cut down surrounded by others that can. What's the point? decoration? for every tree you cut down, there's another two to be seen. runescape has it's fair share of trees. it doesn't make sense to me why it was put in the game. now that i think about it, i remember seeing this tree when i was a low level player, just starting out. i though nothing of it only that it was weird. So yeah, it has been here for a while, i guess. October 30, 200718 yr Hold it. The statue in Port Sarim ain't decoration. That's part of the Holy Grail. Doesn't make much sense though, to be putting a non-touchable tree into RuneScape. But then again, if it made sense, I probably wouldn't appreciate the aesthetic look that it gives. October 30, 200718 yr It surely not is to attract bots, because I can only see the trunk in low detail, and I don't think they play in high detail Master of Firemaking since 10-11-2007 Yes, I QUIT! =] Master of Woodcutting since Christmas 2007Completed all quests - Completed all achievement diaries.
October 30, 200718 yr There's trees like that all over rs, including some pale tree ones in karamaja. Its part of the decoration of the game. Saying that decoration has no purpose just consider do all the flag, torches, wall hangings, chairs, benches, flowers and bushes serve a use beyond decoration? As for the statue near Port Sarim as said above it is part of the Holy Graril quest - to find the entrance to the fisher king's realm you have to find the location where the gazes of all 6 of those statues meet. October 30, 200718 yr I'm pretty sure there is one of those in the front of varrock palace. There used to be one (two?) in front of it, but they took them away when they updated Varrock. If you see it cut down, it's because you can only see the top when you have high detail on. Yes, I have nothing better to do then look at fancy trees . It is impossible to exaggerate the unimportance of almost everything.
October 30, 200718 yr Jagex was gonna use trees like that for a new skill that involved Player Owned Treehouses but they scrapped the idea because i told the Player Owned Proper Houses were much easier :
October 30, 200718 yr I noticed that yesterday too and was walking under it and stuff...Maybe they should set a hug option to the big tree  /FG/First thread post to when I joined the family.[hide=Insert rant here]blahblahblahLIFE[/hide]

I meant that a tee as a decoration in a forest would be pointless.. Not all the flags and standards and stuff. i find that those add to environment of the game. but i can't see how the tree does that. oh, and i didn't know that statue had a purpose. you learn something new every day... October 31, 200718 yr Maybe they should set a hug option to the big tree  haha good idea  Are you kidding me? Then all the autoers in training would start hugging it instead of chopping it down! Then no more autoers behind Lummy Gen store! November 2, 200718 yr Hmm... I wonder if that is the mightiest tree in the forest... Just my little joke. It has been there for a long time. try using a herring with it its just decoration, there are some in the palace at varrock (or atleast used to be, haven't looked since the update)
November 2, 200718 yr Theres a heap of em around, theres one near ardy...i think #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
November 2, 200718 yr they are all over the place, you just don't notice them because most are smaller.
November 2, 200718 yr Probably just a bad piece of coding, or part of a quest for fairies Boom! Dead Shot
November 2, 200718 yr I remember it did just appear one day, during some random update. Perhaps it does not display in low detail, hence the "sometimes chopped" theories, coming from low detail players who never see it?
November 3, 200718 yr I've noticed that tree to, and it doesn't have any options except "cancel" It's been there for a while, give a forest a feel really. How many big trees you see around here?
November 3, 200718 yr I pass this tree all the time and wonder why its there, yet we may never know. sometimes, it is chopped? And to this, if you play in low detail or move your camera to the right spot in high, the top will be removed just like any building or such.. As of right now I believe this tree has no real purpose.
November 3, 200718 yr There are two outside Varrock Palace. Hmmm.... I need a new siggy, get round to doing it later. Probably.
