MrMeteos
So, I recently got .5 blackmarks for telling someone to go to google images and search for a picture... IN THE BLOGSCAPE CLAN CHAT, I have no idea who would be so unhonorable to report a fellow tip.iter, but thats not the point. Why don't we get 1 warning for rules like rule 1 and 11? And whenever you appeal a blackmark, no matter what you say... they always say "We have enough conclusive evidence", did I ask? I told you what happened. What they tell you is like a perverbial slap in the face. *Sigh*... There Goes The Neighborhood...

Bobbington
At the end of the day it does not matter if you believe a rule should be there or not.... the fact is you agreed to respect it when you made an account and every time you enter the site and so thus you should expect repercussions if you don't follow it. If there was a rule that stated: "don't say Hi and use the stomp emote at the same time!" (no matter how unlikely that would be....) we should work within the rules we have agreed to follow. If you think that the rule should not be there, so that you don't have to follow it.... (which is basically what you are saying) they you should take it up with Jagex directly, but until it's revoked you should respect it. Where's your warning? the rules you agreed to follow when you told Jagex you read the terms and conditions of the site at account creation..... there is your warning. When you look at what a black mark is..... what is it? it ain't a punishment! unless it's accompanied with a mute or temp ban it is nothing more than a pertinent record that you have been WARNED in the past for breaking the rule. learn from your warning and you won't ever get punished as you won't do it. mello757
Yeah you broke a rule and therefor received a black mark. It happens. You just have to remember that although RS is a glorified chat program be careful what you say. If you want to tell someone something about a website do it in a PM. Better if you know the person and can use yahoo/aol/msn messenger. I do believe though that there is a separation between advertising a website and telling someone to go and look at something. It's the wannabe mods who report without using their brains.

Alg
...and with every rant, there are those who would rather flame the guy than be productive... what this points to is a wannabe mod. the blogscapers that are usually in the chat can tell the difference between real rule-breaking and something like that... other than that, try appealing. careful what you say though. Makoto_the_Phoenix
If you know you're in the wrong, then what's the point of arguing the fact? Didn't you read the Rules? You know, you agreed to them when you created your account... Locutus_Of_Borg
I don't think you can get black marks for doing something outside of RuneScape. Otherwise I'd say my RSN is someone I really hate then go around breaking all the rules on a different site hoping to get him in trouble. EDIT: Nevermind, thought you were talking about something else. All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu...This is the truth! This is my belief!...at least for now. 'the flamers being wannabe mods' thing is your interpretation of my post. i'm talking about two different things in that. there was probably a wannabe mod in the chat at the time, and the thread, at the time of my post, only had flames. Happysniff
does it matter wether he broke the rules or not? What noob [puncture] would report someone for telling them to visit google, which there is a link to in practically everyone's web browser? The type of person who's Jagex's bi***. deep_pain
I have to agree with most people and say if you broke the rules, well, you got to suck it up. The rule itself I think can be a bit over the top sometimes, it's obvious why it's there, and IMO I can't see how they can relax the rule about advertising websites, it's all or nothing. I was talking to a friend the other day and was so immersed in our chat he mentioned he was playing poker later. I play a lot of poker and always have an interest in where people play.. how much they play, if they play for real money. So like I would IRL ( Rules went out of my head for a second), I asked which site, this was in public chat luckily he remembered the rules and said he couldn't say, me still being dumb asked "why you scared I'll come win all your money :p", to which of course he replied it's against the rules to advertise a site. I've played the game 6 years not had one black mark, Would I think it fair that after 6 years of playing as a er non-rule breaking player, that in chatting with a close friend I would be having a relaxed enough conversation that I wasn't thinking about that rule. I would be extremely upset, had my friend not reminded me, I may have mentioned the site I play on. I could have probably been reported by anyone who saw it for asking personal information anyway. I would have been very unhappy had I recieved a black mark. however as people have said, the rules are there for a reason. I would have just had to suck it up. I wouldn't get my :boohoo: out on here and cry about it... although my friends might not hear the end of it for a while :P sorry you got the marks, but that's life. Co-Founder of KoA over 18's clan. Alina
As I was reading, I stopped at a certain point. When you said why would someone report a fellow Tip.Iter. Someone reported you because you broke a rule. The Knowledge base is there for more Info on the rules, care to read it? There are somtimes no warning because the player should have known not to do it, before He/She has done it. I'm sorry that you have .5 blackmarks now, but you must suffer the punishment. Perhaps try not to do that in the future? ~Alina ~Tip.It's #1 Party Girl & Events Team Supporter~Next TET Event: A Holy Pilgrimage!Next TET AU Event: Zamorak Strikes Back Part 1!PM me if you need any help with an event. On topic, I don't think your situation really warrants a "warning". I mean, unless you say "TIF" and get reported, you broke the rules and therefore recieve a punishment. Although I do wonder why some Tip.iter reported someone because he said "go to google images".
Von_Goon
Huh, 0.5 black marks. You're lucky you don't have 2 black marks for an offence that you have no idea what for. I had this happen to me the day before the detailed black mark system. It just says "Legacy punishment". :| So you got half a mark, learn from it. It's not other players responsibility to keep you in line.
