November 16, 200718 yr Yea, it's that time of the year again. We had a best of topic earliers this year, March to be precise. But that was a little bit early, now that we're almost entering December, I think we can all make a little list. If there's any animo we might even make a little top 5 or something for M&M. So... What are you favorite albums of the year, so far? Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
November 16, 200718 yr Just downloaded Leona Lewis's new album Spirit, I'm not big fan of of Deva style music, but this one is actually really good her vocals are top notch. my second would have to be Long Road Out Of Eden- Eagles and third is Magic by Bruce Springsteen lives up to its name.. all I can think of for now A friend to all is a friend to none.
November 16, 200718 yr The White Stripes - Icky Thump Radiohead - In Rainbows Kings of Leon - Because of the Times Seasick Steve - Dog House Music Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris Tough calls, some of the last three might change, first two i'm certain about though. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
November 16, 200718 yr Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence and the Peace Dream Theater - Systematic That's the only two I'm nominating, everying else has been a little bit of a dissapointement to me. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
November 16, 200718 yr Nightwish - Dark Passion Play Genre: Symphonic Metal I know that a lot of people hate their new vocalist, Annette Olzon. I know that a lot of people think that Tarja, their old singer, was an amazing vocalist. I don't care. I never really cared for Tarja's operatic vocals, but I heard that the new singer on Dark Passion Play was good. I fell in love from the first time. "The Poet and The Pendulum" is one of the best songs I've heard. "Bye Bye Beautiful" has incredible choruses by Marco, their bass guitar player/ Second vocalist, and "Amaranth" is really catchy. All of the instrumentals of the songs are good as well (There was an instrumental version of every song on a second CD). Rating: 10/10 Thousand Foot Krutch - The Flame In All Of Us Genre: Alternative Rock I'm not going to rite a whole new review, so I'll quote myself from my article on them. The Flame In All Of Us was my most anticipated alum in 2007. The band kept their hard rock sound, but pulled it off much better. The instruments were the best of all the albums, though...it still wasn't as good as Phenomenon. It is pretty dang close, though. They have their first love song on there as well. I'm really happy because my copy of the CD is autographed Very Happy.Highlights are "Falls Apart," "The Flame In All Of Us," "My Own Enemy," "Favorite Desease," and "Wish You Well." 9.3/10 Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold Genre: Mostly Heavy Metal Avenged Sevenfold's new album is no City of Evil or Waking The Fallen, I admit. It's still an incredible album, though. I love the vocals by the drummer in "Critical Acclaim." M. Shadows, the lead singer, uses a vocoder in "Lost," and though it is weird at first, it still sounds good. "Dear God" is a country song, and I cannot get it out of my head. Even though all these songs are good, "A Little Peice of Heaven" is the best song. It is really hard to describe with words... so listen to it for yourself. 9/10 Atreyu - Lead Paper Sails Anchor Genre: Heavy Metal Like Nightwish, this band drastically changed their vocal style for a new CD. They old screamer is just backup vocals as far as I know, while their drummer sings throughout the whole album. This was the first album I heard by Atreyu. They barely scream on this CD, which I am grateful for. The guitars on "Doomsday" are really good, as are the vocals on "Honor." Though, there aren't really that many completely diverse tracks on this CD as there are on the other three. The whole CD is good, except for "Slow Burn," "Falling Down," and "Blow." Any other song is good, though I recommend "Honor," "Doomsday," and "No One Cares." 8.8/10 because of the filler. Good Charlotte - Good Morning Revival Genre: Pop-Punk...I guess. Every song sounds really different, though. There is pseudo-rapping, hard rock, and other stuff on here as well... A lot of people hate Good Charlotte. A lot of people hate every band, for that matter. I probably should stop pointing that out. This album is incredible. Obviously, why else would I be posting it in a best of thread? Anyways...They have a slightly more dance oriented sound. "Broken Hearts Parade" is very catchy, and I love the horns they use in it. Also, "Breaking Apart Her Heart" actually has what I consider to be good lyrics. Maybe my standards are low, but I don't care. Other highlights are "The River" due to its use of 2 members of Avenged Sevenfold to make a hard rock song, "Keep Your Hands Off My Girl" because of how unique the rapping is to the band, and their current single, "Dance Floor Anthem." Too bad there has to be filler in the form of "A Beautiful Place." 9.2/10 Maroon 5 - It won't be Soon Before Long Genre: Pop This CD is really easy to listen to and really good at the same time. The instrumentation isn't legendary, but it makes me happy to listen to. Much better than Songs About Jane. The highlights are "Makes Me Wonder," "Wake Up Call," "If I never See Your Face Again," and "Won't Go Home Without You." Sorry I don't have anything else to add, just every song is amazing on the CD. 9.7/10 ...Yeah. Those are the CDs I listened to most that came out this year. :P
November 16, 200718 yr The White Stripes - Icky Thump (don't really like but was amazing album) Nightwish - Dark Passion Play All from me for now. Tif 360 MGC Leaderboard
November 16, 200718 yr Poison the Well - Versions Between the Buried and Me - Colors Both absolutely amazing albums in my opinion. Obviously bands should progress in their style from album to album. For me, both of these bands made leaps and jumps in the direction that I wanted them to go musically. But anyway, aside from those, I haven't actually been checking out many new albums this year. I should be fixing that up later this month though, so I'll probably repost with some new albums. Cool.
November 17, 200718 yr Sonata Arctica - Unia It was a bit of a dissapointment in comparison to some of their other albums, but nonetheless, it's an epic album. Dark Tranquillity - Fiction I'd forgotten about this one. DT are an amazing, influential band, and this album is a reflection of their maturity.
November 17, 200718 yr 1.Darkest hour // deliver us Where to start with this one, this is a band that has been my favorite for many years, and still is..amazing band that never cease to deliver, quality stuff with every single album they release..and this was no different. while the genre of this band isn't easy to pinpoint, the quality of every single thing they try is amazing. John henry decided to play with his vocals a bit,and the end result was perfect..the guitar players mike schlaubeum and kriss norris managed to display their most impressive guitar work till date, and looking at the previous releases..that was a hard feat indeed..and the lyrics are top notch as in every album. best album of the year for me,without a doubt. personal favorites from the album:tunguska, paradox of flies, fire in the sky, deliver us. 2.Swallow the sun // hope. excellent doom / death metal album..their previous album wasn't bad at all,but they just took it up a notch on this one..hope is exactly what you won't feel after this pile of despair crashing over you after you listened to this album. 3.Reverend bizarre // so long suckers. the last album (as their title so appropriately implies) of this legendary Finnish doom metal band..and like their previous releases, this is freaking orgasmic..shame to see these guys go,but what a way to go. 4.Dark tranquillity // fiction. The pioneers of melodic death metal return, and with style at that..while the other pioneering melodic death bands all chose to turn it down a notch and head for mainstream fame (*cough* yes i'm looking at you in flames and soilwork)..dark tranquillty continued to do their thing and make excellent music..while my opinion is that they have never released a bad album, this album takes second place in my favorite albums by this band. (number one being the gallery, which can never be beaten). that is all for now. edit, forgot three lovely albums releases this year. 5.Devildriver // the last kind words. to my big surprise, this one ended up being one of my favorites..i have never been much of a devildriver fan,but this one got me by surprise..guitar players really decided to shred it up and take you by the cohonas..my hat goes off to you sir dez farara. 6.Paradise lost // in requiem. While these fellows haven't really been putting out anything good lately, this album was definitely different, they decided to go back to their roots and they did it well. 7.Amorphis // silent waters. My favorite album by them, enough said.
November 17, 200718 yr United Abominations by Megadeth, and Systematic Chaos by Dream Theater. Both pretty good 2007 releases... It really has
November 17, 200718 yr Minus the Herd by Ion Dissonance. Brutal. Chaotic. Dissonant. Awesome. Can't say I've bought many 2007 releases this year.
November 17, 200718 yr This isn't fair. Wu-Tang's album isn't dropping for another 3 weeks. Nas' in 4. Though I'm sure that they'll end up my favorite albums, my favorite album so far has been Jay-Z's American Gangster. Great beats, flow, and lyrics, good ol' fresh-outta-Marcy Jay. Some runner-ups at this point: Eardrum -Talib Kweli Graduation -Kanye West Strength & Loyalty -Bone Thugs-N-Harmony 4:21 The Day After -Method Man
November 17, 200718 yr I think the only two new albums I listened to this year were the OSTs to 28 Weeks Later and Battlestar Galactica season 3.
November 17, 200718 yr I haven't heard all the albums released this year that I want to, but standouts are: Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero Saul Williams - The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! Type O Negative - Dead Again Machine Head - The Blackening NiggyTardust probably takes the gold.
November 17, 200718 yr Only albums I really cared for were: Radiohead - In Rainbows The White Stripes - Icky Thump AFI - I Heard A Voice I can't wait for Daft Punk's Alive 2007, It will probably end up on my list also.
November 17, 200718 yr Babyshambles - Shotter's Nation Ian Brown - The World is Yours Radiohead - In Rainbows They're the only albums I've really enjoyed I suppose. Myths of the Near Future by the Klaxons too, but I just can't justify putting that in a 'best' list. I'd say Andrea Bocelli's Greatest Hits too, but I don't know if that counts. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
November 17, 200718 yr Author I can't wait for Daft Punk's Alive 2007, It will probably end up on my list also. Yea, it's fantastic! I was there at one of the concerts of the tour. And that show was amazing, when I heard that CD it constantly got my goosebumps. The opening is brilliant. You've seen one of the shows as well? My personal top albums of the year are: 1. Ry Cooder - My Name is Buddy Cooder continues his musical journey and this time he goes back to the roots of American music. The music itself (that you can label as 'experimental country') is so enchanting, and together with the stories told by Ry you really go to another world. Of course Ry hasn't lost his other touch either, so the stories about the old America of the '30s are full of critique on society and government back then and now. 2. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible I wasn't really a fan of Funeral, it sounded nice, but it didn't really do me much. But when Neon Bible came out I gave it a spin right away. After hearing it at work I inmediatly bought it, and for the next couple of weeks it couldn't stop listening to it. From Black Mirror to My Body is a Cage there isn't a single track that isn't good. Ooh, those organs on Intervention, Win's desperate voice on Antichrist Television Blues, the end of No Cars Go and finally the end of My Body is a Cage. 3. Neil Young - Live at Massey Hall '71 Yea, it's a live album. And it's not exactly from 2007. But it got released in 2007. : This is perhaps the best release of 2007. It's so incredibly good. It's hard to explain, you'd have to hear songs like Love in Mind, to hear how good it is. Have fun. 4. Grinderman - Grinderman Ooh, now that's something else. Cave took some of his Bad Seeds, and instead of making another album full of beatitful balads, he made something a little different. It's dirty, and it leaves all those little kids listening to "The HEAR IT![/b] 5. Justice - Cross Better than Daft Punk? Genesis (openingtrack) 6. Daft Punk - Alive 2007 Best concert of the year for me. Too bad I couldn't find any youtube clips to do it any justice. Guess you'll have try the CD. :P 7. Editors - An End Has A Start 8. Mavis Staples - We'll Never Turn Back 9. Kanye West - Graduation 10. Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
November 17, 200718 yr DJ Khaled- we the best awesome CD, lotsa great tunes Doctor of Dental Surgery-2014Medical Doctor-2018?Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon-2024?
November 17, 200718 yr DJ Khaled- we the best awesome CD, lotsa great tunes We The Best had like 1 good track, the one with Bone Thugs. The lyrics were awful, the wordplay stunk, the topics were boring mindless stereotypical ones, and it was the pinnacle of what's wrong with hip-hop nowdays. :shame:

Guess you'll have try the CD. :P Ive seen them twice this year and both times have been amazing. So much energy and so much fun! Definitely one of the best shows ive ever been to in my life. If you have never been to a Daft Punk show here's just a little taste
