November 28, 200718 yr WoW is an example of Big C creativity - changing the "shape of the box" to incorporate new ideas into what is catagorised as "creativity". Why? Because it's the most overplayed and overpaid MMORPG in the world. RS is much older. The both draw upon ideas that have been put forward already. What's your point? That's how 99.8% of the world works. Copy parts and change others. And, to be technical...as others has said: RS is older than WoW. If you prefer wow, continue forking out the cash each month. It's your life :) [bleep] OFF HOW ARE U SO [bleep]ING LUCKY U PIECE OF [bleep]ING SHIT [bleep] [bleep] [wagon] MUNCHER
November 28, 200718 yr A lot of games copy off each other ":S not just runescape You are not alone, Our Father, God will always be with you.
November 29, 200718 yr I think that every first-person shooter is copying DOOM because they all have the same weapons. With the exception of WW2 fps games... They're all the exact same. All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu...This is the truth! This is my belief!...at least for now. "The Mystery of Life"Vol. 841, Ch. 26
November 29, 200718 yr I think that every first-person shooter is copying DOOM because they all have the same weapons. With the exception of WW2 fps games... They're all the exact same. I didn't know the spartan laser, energy sword, and gravity hammer were in doom. If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person.
November 29, 200718 yr WoW should've copied RS's quest system, rather than "kill x of y" great! here's a weapon! "due to the lack of y, z's population is hungry for meat. kill x of z now." great! here's some gold. "now deliver this to the next town" and that's where the variety ends. I'm Jake Milroy
November 30, 200718 yr If you don't like it, don't play it, and don't rant about it. Also, runescape is older than world of warcraft, which makes it kinda hard to copy....
December 1, 200718 yr I think that every first-person shooter is copying DOOM because they all have the same weapons. With the exception of WW2 fps games... They're all the exact same. I didn't know the spartan laser, energy sword, and gravity hammer were in doom. My bad, I forgot to include [/sarcasm] at the end for you people who don't understand it. December 1, 200718 yr If you study anthropology you learn that everything is in relation to each other and that there are no new ideas, only recreated or redeveloped ones. Heh... I was looking for a worthy quote for my sig  Edit: Sadly the extra 47 pixels in height would put my sig over the limit. Still worthy of a quote though 8-) --- Back on topic: This is true of all computer programming. It's all derivative. This is why Patenting Computer Concepts has the potential to undermine all known programming. Which is why IBM and Microsoft hold each other to ransom with their Software Patent Portfolios. They refer to this balance in the computer industry M.A.D. (the Mutually Assured Destruction) of software as we know it. Copyright is different though and should be enforced, since that's the work of the Author (the writer of the code). Though some author's choose to share their work under G.P.L. (General Public License). It's a weird world the software industry, since it's alien in many ways to other forms of property. Of course if you attempt to exploit or break other people's software that's vandalism or theft in my books. What Jagex has done is original and conceived in their own offices, by their own staff without seeing one line of W.o.W. code. So sorry, in my books, RuneScape is not copying (or breaking copyright) of anything in W.o.W. As for Software Patents (if any) held by either Jagex or Blizzard, that's an entirely different and complex matter, dependant on impossibly complex manoeuvring of legal minds, rather than code conceived in programmers minds. Given they're the two biggest companies in the game (in terms of subscriptions) I doubt they'd want to waste time on each other given they're aiming at two completely different niches of the MMORPG market. In my view W.o.W is more like Guild Wars but with less impressive graphics, and not instanced beyond the MMOG part of MMORPG like is done in Guild Wars (making the only MMOG part of Guild Wars the Towns and some aspects of their PvP tournaments - when in spectator mode). Meh... i only have time for one game, and despite some friends and family being elsewhere in the MMORPG universe, I've stayed with RuneScape.
December 1, 200718 yr WoW is actually a knock of Everquest ;) At lot more story to it than that, but yup.
December 1, 200718 yr I still don' t know what this has to do with Rune Scape... You' re ranting about an OLDER game being a cheap knock off, and just to say, Rune Scape and WoW are like night and day... RSN:Mico1311 Combat: 82 Highest skill: Fishing 75 Playing time: From around August 2003 The guy in my avatar is Veso, a comedian mastermind.
December 2, 200718 yr rs is older than wow so rs can not be copying wow Goals achieved: lvl 99 Cooking, Fishing and Fletching.Surrey CC and Liverpool FC fan for life!
December 2, 200718 yr wow introduced ah and arenas far before runescape  Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....
December 5, 200718 yr I hate to say this to you, but there can't be 1 mmorpg's out there. Can't because Jagex and blizzard are companies whos main goal is to make profit... i think it would be a monoply if there was just Blizzard so to keep there companies going they must borrow ideas so people keep playing the game, so it dosen't matter if they copy at all omg, a lemon!
December 5, 200718 yr You know your a noob when WoW is the standard for all MMORPG's. WoW is honest to God a game that has almost as many noobs and whiners as RS. Please to God stop comparing them because if you ever play wc3 and then ask who plays WoW 80% of the people who shout "I DO!!" will be doush bags. If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature. ^^^At least I'm not the only crazy one
December 5, 200718 yr So RS2 is a year older than WoW. Wow indeed! Even a 3 year old game can lick jaGeX's RS2 world hollow. I think theres and estimated 7million players on WoW while RuneScape only has around 1.Rs has closer to 10 million players, they have 1 million paying members, rs is also a home based game company that started with 3 members working out of a basement. When blizzard made wow they were backed by vivendi a multi billion dollar corperation, they also had several succesful titles already including the already massivly popular warcraft series, so people were already anticipating the release, then they had a global advertisement campaign in cinimas and on television.. Rs was spread by word of mouth. Now which is more impressive?, a billion dollar already succesful games company which already had the highest selling rpg on the market at the time (diablo2) making a follow on mmorpg off an already massivly popular strategy series and getting 8 million members (warcraft 2 sold more copies then that)? Or the 3 guys who sat and coded in a basement and created one of the top 5 largest mmorpgs ever created with no funding whatsoever?. Now continue to talk all your [cabbage] about wow, but jagex has my respect.
December 8, 200718 yr Well id say that an mmorpg can only do so much before it starts getting like another one. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
December 8, 200718 yr I dont know if this has been stated before, and frankly i want to get it said and not waste much time reading three pages ^.^ but i digress... The graphics will never compare to WoW, the graphic updates are for nothing but to attract new players and make the game more pleasing to the eye. The Grand Exchange had been asked for for a long time, and the fact it appears in another game doesnt make it a cheap knockoff. Many games have similar components. Its like saying that one game that takes place in WWII is a cheap knockoff of another one that features the same battles ^.^ and because it has similar features it doesnt mean that it works in the exact same way. As for tournaments those were probably also asked for, and they also made up for the 3k staking cap. and rankings are just to give glory where glory is justly deserved. Frankly i dont like the WoW graphics, and dont feel like downloading a game and a patch for said game and paying much more when i can get a much better game (in my opinion) for less, and i dont have to download anything but java, which happens to be used for lots of other things.. So i dont think JaGeX is intentionally making it seem like a knockoff. It just appears that way when they listen to their players. signature
