fgfuyfyuiuy0
Well, today I was in class and I found a flash drive plugged into my computer. It was 4 Gigs and I know it wasn't right, but I decided to take it #-o Well, I got home and plugged it in. Everything popped up, that being a bunch of old projects for this class. I skimmed through and saw a word document titled "Words". I opened it and my mouth dropped. It had all his personal info. Meaning Wells Fargo account name, password, codes, PayPal account username/password, EBay pass/username saying which account he had hooked up to it. Everything. I am really scared. I know I need to return it, but I don't know what will happen to me... They'll know I took it, but I feel bad for the guy. His personal info is lost and he knows someone has it. Luckily for him, it's me, but I still need help. Anyone have any suggestions? Really open minded right now. Seriously, if you are going to post how much of a douche bag I am, I already know. I feel terrible. He must be freaking. I only thought it was a flash drive with some projects on it. I <3 Gears of War 2. Nero
Just return it and say you took it to make sure no one who would actually steal it would take it. Vienna Raszyn Warsaw Klushino
Catnip1337
You did the right thing. He deserved to lose it because he didn't take it with him. Now the info on it is yours. I say you should buy something nice. He had no right taking all his personal info to school.
Errdoth
Just call him up (with the number in that file, I guess) and tell him you have his flash drive, just to calm him down. Last.fm Signature Overlays
Nom
Catnip, you have got to be one of the most spiteful and negative people I've ever heard talk. On topic, you should really turn it in. Probably a good idea to find out whose it is and tell them personally that you didn't take any of the info. Set his mind at rest.

I say you should buy something nice. He had no right taking all his personal info to school. Haha, thanks for the laugh. Seriously though, just return it to him. If you have his number, you might want to call him up. If you can't find him, I'm sure your principal would help you out. The guy will probably freak out and change all his passwords, but otherwise I'm sure it will be fine. :)
hells_mishap
You're over reacting I think. Just return it and say you found it laying around. By the way your title was I thought you were gonna say you found kiddie porn or something on the flash drive.
pfilc23
definitely return it...if you don't want to face him, just take it to the Lost and Found.
Rebdragon
What the heck are you worried about? Just give it to the teacher in that class, say you found it misplaced, and he'll return it to the kid during his class. Christ, I know this is your first time being a hardcore theif, but not only do you not plan to do anything bad with the information, but they can't even know that you do know any of the info. For all they know, you accidentally grabbed a flashdrive you thought was yours, but really was someone elses, took it home, realized it wasn't yours before you did anything with it, and just brought it in the next day. Honestly, what's with the fuss? How long have you had this thing to make you freak out this much over nothing? Catnip, you have got to be one of the most spiteful and negative people I've ever heard talk. I know. Isn't it great :P ? Brandon_7
Just give it back as soon as possible. Use one of the explanations posted above. So what if it's a small lie. Just get it back to him as quickly as possible, he could very well need it for work or school. You keeping it for any longer than you have to could really be making it worse. McGuff1
I am really scared. I know I need to return it, but I don't know what will happen to me... Return it is the right thing to do. It was his mistake to leave it behind and he shouldn't have left that info on it. I would thank you but others could be outraged at his own mistake. Humans are very unpredictable. Is there a lost and found you could slip it into anonymously. That would resolve any fears you have.
Phil
Agree with Rebdragon. Nothing to be worried about. If you do manage to talk to this guy, tell him not to be so stupid in the future. Next time someone might actually use the private details.
indy500fan
He wont be mad at you, he'll be happy you found it. That is, unless he was just gone for a minute and went right back to get it, but it wasn't there anymore. You could give it to lost and found, but someone else could get it then. I would say the best thing is contact him personally.
Nom
I think he's more worried about the state of mind that the owner is in. I would be scared out of my mind if I lost a flash drive with that much stuff on it, and when Fgfuy returns it the owner won't even know for sure whether he will use the information he saw or not. So yeah, it might be a bit troublesome when he gives it back. You still definitely need to give it back and reassure the owner though.
rushrock
You have a right to be worried, and I'm sure he'll be relieved to get it back. No problems! :)
Lenin64
You're over reacting I think. Just return it and say you found it laying around. By the way your title was I thought you were gonna say you found kiddie porn or something on the flash drive. I thought he would have a mega-virus or something :P But yea, return it. Say you found it, which you did, looked at it thinking it was yours (which may or may not be true, i already forgot most of your first post :wall: ), you found out it wasn;t yours, and you need to return it. If you know the kid, give it back personally. If not, and his phone number is on there, call him up and tell him what happened. If he gets mad because he thinks you might use that stuff, tell him to change it (you can do that with PayPal, right?) Command the Murderous Chalices! spikerkid
Dropping it into the Lost & Found isn't a good idea. Some other person could just come along and take it. Aye, if I went to the lost anf found and saw that i'd take it and be like sweet mine now. Then when I put it in my computer i'd get all the info. Lost and found really isn't a good idea to be honest. Try and find the guy, if you can't find them atleast delete the account info and stuff before putting it in the lost and found. adam_ross0
Just face him the next day and tell him you have his Flash Drive. When you meet him to give it to him, tell him you didn't even look at his information as soon as you saw that it was personal details, and that you returning the flash drive in the first place is a sign of trust that you are being honest when you say you won't use that information. If he's still kinda worried, just tell him to change passwords. I'd also tell him to keep a more careful watch over that stuff, and don't pack around all of your personal info unless it is absolutely necessary.
