December 11, 200718 yr Personaly, I think Jagex had the right Idea. But they are falling fast... They put out to many anti-Freedoms at one time.... basicly I hate PKing but I like the treat of it being there... RuneScape has not been tossed into Oblivion like some say. Its just one of those times... Like how our Canadian Dollar is higher than the American dollar... or was.. or something like that... Technically, pking still exists, just not the old stereotypical, definition-mutated version of it. Pking is just player killing, nothing more. So, as long as you can kill a player, you can pk. Edit: according to someone else, I forgot about the SPIRIT of pking, so disregard that. Currently will be using my Oni Tsurugi account to attempt to get 99 on all free skills without spending any gp, just for the sake of doing so.
December 11, 200718 yr That's true, instead of one sweatshop worker handling ten autoers, it'll be one sweatshop worker handling one player, and a damn buff one. Accounts sell more than most set-amounts of GP, correct? So they'll clearly move on to selling accounts. I only fear what Jagex might do to stop the selling of accounts though...No, you make much more money selling GP then accounts with high stats :-w It all depends how much are accounts valued. And I haven't got a clue. If its pretty cheap, then to hell what I just said. :PThe problem with selling accounts is that it takes a long time to get decent stats, and in that time you'd make much more money by mining, wc, etc.
December 11, 200718 yr Imagine the number of level 60+ woodcutters up for sale soon :P Anyway ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ accounts don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t generally go for much anyway, and most is done using RS cash ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ i.e. a decent pure with 90+ range/mage may fetch 10M RS geepee, which is $40US. As an hourly rate to get a character to those levels WITHOUT being able to droptrade supplies is going to be pitiful to say the least ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ so I for one do not see character selling as being the next RWT problem. What may be a problem is training of your current character for RL cash. I.e. hire a sweatshop worker at $1/hr to train while you are at school/work etc and have some shiny new levels a few days later without touching the mouse. IP tracking may be able to id this, if so ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ we have nudda to worry about! If not, expect pay to train shops to be opening̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ. erm about now.
December 11, 200718 yr The problem with selling accounts is that it takes a long time to get decent stats, and in that time you'd make much more money by mining, wc, etc. All those will be botted. Examples: Selling level 50 rune miner. Selling 99 magic account. Selling level 70, 100 mil in bank. etc. The Runescape Wilderness - Meili's Blog
December 11, 200718 yr The market for buying or selling RS accounts isn't new. It has been around for almost as long as RS have been. I don't think that the recent updates will affect the market of RS player accounts, except that maybe a few RWT tries this market instead of RWT. But the most of this illegal market will probalby be unaffected. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
December 11, 200718 yr You read it right, real world trading (RWT) is now going to get worse. The updates will stop trading gold to others but now RWT'ers will switch to selling RS accounts. I don't think it's going to get worse. Account trading has many downsides for the RWT'ers and sweatshops. Accounts are generally sold at a huge discount when compared to the price of the virtual currency for a variety of reasons. Time/cost wise, training accounts for RWT purposes is not really efficient, i.e. the 'generated value' per hour is significantly lower. Furthermore, despite the general consensus, people who spend hundreds or thousands of $ on virtual currency / items / characters are the rare exception to the rule. Most transactions involve (much) smaller amounts of gp instead. I suppose there will be an increase of people who will be going to do that anyway, but it's probably not going to get anywhere near as big as RWT was. The value of my bank at its height. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 250 billion+.Most likely the largest trade in RuneScape ever. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 70 billion+.
December 11, 200718 yr sorry, but I.P. detection technology has this nailed to the ground. I don't know the details, but I do know you won't want to be buying an account ever. December 11, 200718 yr Buying accounts is a silly idea, there will never be much money in it because of one fundemental reason, the account is always owned by the person who created it. So if mr x sells his lvl 126 max account for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1000 at any time he could get that account back in about 5-10 mins, the creater always owns the account so the risk in buying an account is too high compared to buying gold. December 11, 200718 yr I don't look for trading accounts to be the next big RWIT problem in runescape but rather "power leveling" Its really the only thing they will have left. Its not a new thing either they have been doing this for years too. I miss you Justice my angel on earth and now in heaven " quem di diligunt, adolescens moritur " for whom the gods love die young. December 11, 200718 yr the bot char will be made up to ok stats in a month with all his produce and gp intact. to be sold in one transaction. some chars may have a few 99 stats. and a bank worth 100s of millions. rwt have just moved on into the final undectectibal stage. selling top lvl playerbots for big money burrrppp
December 11, 200718 yr Please people.. We play RS in our freetime. Jagex LIVES for Runescape, don't fool yourselves into thinking this hasn't been taken into consideration ..
December 11, 200718 yr I don't look for trading accounts to be the next big RWIT problem in runescape but rather "power leveling" Its really the only thing they will have left. Its not a new thing either they have been doing this for years too. Powerleveling won't happen in Runescape, what is the point, tell me what advantage you get now from being a high level, for starters it takes too long to get to a high level, and the rewards are so poor. Look at wow for a moment, to get to level 70 power leveled takes approx 20 days playtime, at level 70 the game is transformed and you can then go for the big items, do the big raids and instances, play in the best PVP battlegrounds. There is nothing for a level 126 to do, except say woot im lvl 126 and then carry on cutting logs or fishing. Pking, merchanting gave players the choice to play the game differently, I was a skiller really, nothing in RS never gave me the incentive to get a higher combat level so i left it at 104, I keep checking back to see if there is somthing new for me, but atlas nothing. Since I left RS in Jan, i have leveled 2 toons to 70 in wow, i have grinded REP for diffferent factions, played tons of PVP games and love the goals you can set. One thing in runescape I used to love was that feeling you got while you collected a clue scroll in the wildy, not knowing if someone was stalking you, and the feeling of relief when I got back to a major town with my loot, or sitting upstairs in a wildy castle with my son downstairs as bait luring people to come attack him then jump down to try and kill them but all that has gone overnight. Guys there are plenty of other games out there, and you will be surprised how much you will like them, give wow a try and keep RS on the back burner until they fix the issues that have caused all these problems. Good luck :) Quit Runescape 10 jan 2007 - Playing again 2012
December 13, 200718 yr RWT sites are already offering to put gold on your account by using it to get the gp. I don't know if it will be successful but they are already moving forward to what they think the new RWT will be. The Runescape Wilderness - Meili's Blog
December 13, 200718 yr RWT will still exist, maybe a little less strong, because, of what was said before, a high/mid-high level account with 85+ wc and a loaded bank would sell for not only the GP value, but the skill value too. Why not beef it up to 110+ combat and much more, would sell for a pretty penny. 99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th
December 13, 200718 yr RWT sites are already offering to put gold on your account by using it to get the gp. I don't know if it will be successful but they are already moving forward to what they think the new RWT will be. Only a fool would agree to that. I think having a player in one country play, then 10 minutes later log back in a thousand miles away will set SOMETHING off. RWT is feasible. But not profitable. There are plenty of bot account with millions on them right now. We'll see these being sold. But after they are gone I doubt we'll see an army of toons being botted up. Without a way to tweak their new toons they will have to work for every gold piece and every experience point. If you try to bot it all there is a VERY good chance the account will get banned. This wasn't a problem when you could have dozens of accounts, as long as a few got didn't get banned you made money. Now if the account gets banned they lose everything. Nope. Some RWT will stick around, the vast majority will go to easier pickings. "Here lies one whose name was writ in water."
December 13, 200718 yr Account selling: The gold farmers can raise new accounts with maybe ~70 in every skill. Unlike 70-99, it's a lot easier to raise, and still sells for a good amount of money. There is around 1-2M on the account, from the skilling. Then the gold farmer just sells it to some idiot ready to pay for it. Then, what happens? Not much, just another lvl 60 in Runescape. Chances are the person who bought the account will quit because all the achievement aspect of the game is gone. Chances the person is new to the game, since they don't got a main account yet. The person might not like teh game after all, and just quit. Powerleveling: Used for 80-99 a lot I suppose. This is more annoying, because the boastful idiots ready to pay for a 99 will start bragging and being a general annoyance about their levels. But it's still not that bad. 2480+ total
