Dark Monday: Pros and Cons

This is the account of the reaction of one RuneScape player on that fateful day...

 

 

 

December the Tenth, 2007, A.D. "Dark Monday"

 

 

 

This is ridiculous. I'm flippin' out about these "up"dates. This is just too much, too soon. Thousands of idiots (I'm afraid a couple are Tip.Itters) are gonna quit, probably cause they don't understand (which I don't either).

 

 

 

I mean, yeah, we all hate RWT's, but come on. Overwhelming.

 

 

 

I will now list and discuss the "up"dates. Because I have that kind of time.

 

 

 

* The total cost of all items in a trade must be in a 3k range of the other person's offer.

 

- Pros: Fights RWT's, scammers, and those who transfer items between accounts.

 

- Cons: No more loans, financial help, or charity of any kind.

 

 

 

* Adjusting of the Duel Arena, Party Room, shops, etc. to fight RWT's.

 

- Pros: Fights RWT's.

 

- Cons: Uummm..... How? Info, please *makes grabbing gesture*.

 

 

 

* Dropped items will only be shown if they don't exceed 3k in worth.

 

-and-

 

* Items dropped in a 15-minute period will not be visible to others if their total worth is 3k+.

 

- Pros: Fights RWT's and those who transfer items between accounts.

 

- Cons: RIP Drop Parties. RIP indeed.

 

 

 

* Gravestones will appear wherever you died, protecting your items for some time. It can be prolonged if people repair or bless it (not you).

 

- Pros: Dead guy has 2-5 minutes to get his items back.

 

- Cons: RIP PKing for profit. I knew him well. Also, massive lag during clan wars.

 

 

 

* Bounty Hunter and Clan Wars

 

- Pros: First F2P minigames, new minigames, organized clan fighting, and double gambling (Pking? For money? In the Wild?!)

 

- Cons: Double gambling

 

 

 

* The "Revenant" monster ghosts

 

- Pros: Absoluteley NONE

 

- Cons: Practically invinceable, constantly hit high, waste of time, yet another thing to harass you in the Wild, more useless lag, the most-useless thing to occur on Dark Monday

 

 

 

* Shrinking of the Wilderness by 60%

 

- Pros: Fights those who transfer items between accounts

 

- Cons: 60 friggin' percent?! You gotta be kidding me! Cramped PK worlds... just... *sigh*...

Thats great that you feel a little frustrated, the same as everyone is feeling right now.

 

 

 

This Is seemingly quite clearly THE biggest change that Runescape has seen since I have been around anyways.

 

 

 

Many people are angry and upset, many people will cry, rant, and whine untill the update is fixed, yet still many more people will suck it up and play the game or realise that they have finally made the call to move on to other things.

 

 

 

Just so you know, its pointless to dwell on the first for to long, accomplishes nothing at all by doing the second, and the third is the option that everyone should be taking / looking into.

He has actually missed quite a numerous amount of both pros and cons. Yet apparently is only just frustrated enough to let everyone else know that he is frustrated, but not to actually finish venting about it before he goes to sleep.

also if you want to lend a friend a whip so bad, have them give you 1.3mil gp, if you friend doesnt have 1.3mil gp in the first place then hes probably poor enough to want to scam you anyway so nothing so far about these updates are bad.

Well, that's a big pro :). Something positive came out of this after all :)

Con: The updates themselves. As someone said in the clan chat yesterday, they should change the name to SovietScape.

yeah, and high level alchemy doesnt bring inflation at all

 

 

 

RWT's just transfered the money. id say a majority of the extra money that causes the ever-shrinking gp is high level alchemy

 

 

 

im glad to see jagex do this, any company stupid enough to try and fight something in a way that ruins aspects of its product that a good ammount of people enjoy, doesnt deserve a company.....

Pro's : pretty much danger free wild. Free green d hide, d bones, rune ore, wildy clues now almost completely safe.

 

No morons thinking this is the end of runescape as we know it :roll:

 

waaaaaaay less people around, this effects everything.

 

 

 

Cons:

 

No gifts, loans

 

only solo monster hunting now

There is less incentive to keep paying for members.

 

 

 

F2P items are cheaper so the 3k margin would actually more useful there because many items would usually stay within that margin anyway.

 

 

 

They have the duel arena now, and clan wars, and bounty hunter so benefit extremely from that.

 

 

 

More bank space = less trouble for F2P'ers with random event clothing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It just seems better to be F2P at the moment so I will probably go back to non-members soon.
